The Mayor is out of control! There is no way to justify this. I have not read the thread and I am sorry if I stepped on anybody who wrote the same thing I am about to write but why in the world would any of the people living outside the city limits want to join a corrupt city like Manchester? Look around you, it's all full of cronyism, nepotism. The city is dysfunctional. Who in their right mind would want to join? Not even the employees that the Mayor has in his office live in city limits. Why would you need a police force when most have a gun in their possession? What does the city offer? Here's the good news because I know it's going to pass, I know King George will have his way because he rules with those that vote with him and not serve. The good news is now is your chance to change the whole city around and vote every one out, just don't ever forget and find good people who believe in freedom and liberty and get those people out of office. Taxes is a form of slavery, they have you working for them, they no longer work for you. I tried to get people to understand but as I can see it's too late. You had to object long before this, you had to let them know you were always watching. Sorry, I can't join to help, I got busy with my own fight and loving every minute of it. I hate to say it, and I don't like doing this but I told you so, how many times did I find myself alone with just a few police in the city council meetings? Don't ask, good luck! You can find me on facebook, look for "Stand with the Sheriff" By the way if you don't believe me when I said to join me look at my past post. I tried, God knows I tried to warn you. I know where they got this idea and it's all part of a bigger plan to have more control of every aspect of your life. I am warning you now, I know what's coming and you are not going to like it. Psst... They don't even care if you move out, there are people in this country and you should know this by now that should be alien to you and me, it's not what our founders wanted. It's not American. Some of you were focused on the wrong things that you thought were so important, that was just a smoke screen.
No matter who is in office you are still going to preach your Doom & Gloom theories, you would never be satisfied. This country was built on tax dollars, everyone knows that. I've got an idea for you: Get a job, Pay your taxes, it's not so bad, I do it every day. Stop impeding progress, who wants to live in the dark ages with you...not me. And by the way, don't forget to take your medicine. It will slow down those schizophrenic tendencies.

<quoted text> That is reaching real deep. I seriously don't see businesses coming to Manchester just because they have a little more land. Manchester can't round up more than four or five sober people to work. The only thing this annex move will do is make a lot of hard working people pay a lot of money to the city so some thugs can fill their pockets until honest working people get tired of it and vote thm out and the FBI picks them up.

As it is the city appears too small, population-wise and area-wise, to attract the types of employers both the city and county need.

216 Main, you're obviously receiving benefits from the current mayor. Your only purpose for posting on tis thread is to insult 214 Main. If you have a problem with him, you should talk to him face to face and stop being a coward.

As for this annex, it won't happen. Any counsil member who votes yes to this will be voted out. The people who this issue affects are standing up against the elected officials. They better remember who they work for and it most certainly isn't George Saylor. On a personal note, I hope King George does push this thru so all can see how corrupt the current mayor and his committee is. They work for the people, they can't pass this if the people oppose it. Those within city limits now should consider property value, police and fire service being decreased due to expanding. This action benefits nobody. This proposal was created to clean up bad investments made by the mayor and city counsil. The obvious solution to the city's problems would be to sell Y-Hollow and the golf course. I wonder did the current mayor ever consider lowering taxes as a way to invite businesses to locate in Manchester. Simple math, more jobs equal more taxes.

No, he doesn't live in Manchester. He owns commercial property in Manchester Now who is the as shole? His tax money contributes to George Saylor's salary along with all bad investments made by the elected officials. He even contributes to paying for services such as garbage, water, police and fire protection. I believe he has the right to be involved with every issue concerning how the tax-payers money is being spent.

You are the coward, where's your name. You're not very intelligent if that's all you got from my post. I spoke about change, working, contributing to our community. It's a shame that people are so eager to stop progress & put down people who are trying to help this place. Again, this country was built by tax dollars, why not work & pay your fair share?? Anyway you need to get on London topics & worry about their problems, we don't need your fixed opinions. And by the way I am not confirming any affiliation with the mayor or any city council members. People like you think anyone who opposes your opinions is getting something in return, Wrong!!! You should do some research on topics before posting something on here that you know absolutely nothing about!!!

Every one that includes you to 216 main needs to learn what the city can do with ordances they can in act if they expand. I could careless about more liquor and beer joints which is what this is all about. In a city charter they can when they annex linit the size of buildings, the type of building and if they so choose even the color of the paint on those buildings. They can limit number of pets one owns, have leash laws in affect, even lighting you have on your place. These are just a few of things a city can put in place if they choose so, its up to the people if they want annex or not, should never be in the hands of a few business and a political group. Your idea of progress 216 main must mean everyone agree with you or else they are fools, sorry if alcohol was the progress we needed then might as well make drugs legal they sale more of them then anything else.

You don't need to confirm who you're affliated with, just keep posting. You seem to have issues with outsiders so let me clarify for you in simple terms, I'm no outsider. Nobody wants to stop progress, we want to stop more bad investments and more corrupt elected officials. Tell us all one thing that George Saylor and his committee has done to help Manchester. I don't think anyone opposes paying their fair share to improve Manchester but.....liquor stores just won't do the trick for Manchester. You can continue to spout your ignorant rubbish however, I don't think you have any room to criticize those of us who aren't getting benefits from the mayor. You may call George God but....he's just a public servant who was elected by the citizens of Manchester. He works for us and as for you, I'll be waiting for you to tell us the one great thing George and his committee has done to improve Manchester. Reminder, you're the one who posted imsults toward a commercial property owner. Why don't you put your big girl panties on and talk to his face. You better be careful as to what you say and who you insult. Your next mayor and his committee may hold grudges. I'll go on record as saying, electing George Saylor was another big mistake. I'll bet my education level is far greater than what you have. Now, go back into your lil corner and think real hard so you can tell me the one great thing George has done for Manchester. I won't expect a quick response since....George has done nothing for Manchester. It may be easier for you tell all of us the great things he's done for you.

On another post titled Fire and Police, they are talking about starting impeachment for Saylor. I do not live in Manchester and I never will but it sure seems like Saylor is doing things to spite the people who disagree with him. I have family in Manchester and it does look like Saylor has done nothing during his term to improve Manchester. The voters got the wet vote, Saylor did not. Y'all should look at your mayor and tell him that you want to see results of improvement. LilMsHadEnuf is right, y'all need jobs to make improvements. The only reason he wants to make Manchester bigger is to get more tax money to pay the outstanding debts the city owes. Nothing will be improved, the money will be used to pay for the mistakes they already made.

I would appreciate it if you would stop defending me. I don't know you and I don't need it. I don't like what you tried to insinuate on your post. I didn't get it at first but after reading it twice I think I know where you are going with it. I don't care what the Mayor or anybody does in their personal life. The Mayor knows full well what I pay and this little person doesn't have to know. Please don't defend me again, I don't know you and never have and never will. This is not about me, it's not about those calling me names, I don't care what they call me. Thank you.

Oh please Mr. 214 Main don't flatter yourself by assuming that I was defending you. I was merely defending a fellow tax-payer whose forced to pay taxes on commercial property that we can't sell, rent or profit from. I sincerely get angry at those who assume we have no business opposing the mayor and his committee since we don't live in Manchester. Those same simple minds have attacked me on similar threads. As for your opinion of what I may or may not have tried to insinuate, that's my business and your opinion on my insinuations are as welcome as the annex of Manchester. On a personal note, you sir are making an arse out of yourself. Now sir, you are excused. I simply don't have time to tolerate your mini melt down.

The proposed annexation appears to be no more than an attempt to get a larger citizen base (tax base) to help pay for the expensive mistakes made by former city administrations. The legality and finality of the WNT/Y Hollow purchase has left the city in need of increased revenues. The money paid thus far to the previous owners of the Y Hollow land has essentially only covered interest with the principal largely untouched. This project from "Father God" will haunt the city for years to come.
When a city government chooses to annex a larger area to spread good works and resources to a larger population for the benefit of that population it might be considered a benevolent act but when that annexation offers the new citizens nothing but increased taxes it is more akin to a weed spreading roots into fertile soil to promote it's own twisted growth.
