Its 53% who don't pay taxes now beg borrow or steal.Leaves 47% paying them now, come aday when our grandkids will be wishing there relatives had not been so dumb when they have to pay back all money america in debt for, but fools of today don't care about there kids or grandkids all they think of is themselfs and that check they getting on the first. I feel sorry for then next generation they going to suffer i know for foolish people of today. Its a shame how ignorant people are, think government can pay out money forever they borrow and never have to pay it back, but what can one expect from sorry worthless people, thats prime example why clay county never grow fool that are uneducated and so sorry that they go around smelling like crap due to fact bathing is like a job to them. I heared a guy say he seen on news where they trying to make it a crime to mention work to certain people calling it discrimantion. Websters new dictionary has work as a dirty 4 letter not to be said around sorry people.

The more people there are in the city limits, the more people there will be to vote out our current Mayor next election.

Everyone needs to let their complaints be heard at the city counsil meeting. Until people start getting involved, nothing will change. The Y hollow project was a scam, anyone who knew how to use Google could see that. The problem is, our mayor and members of the city counsil do favors for their friends and family at the expense of the tax-payers. Remember, the mayor and all elected officials are public servants, they work for you. You tell them what you want your money spent on, attend the city counsil meetings and talk to them like the servants they are. They can only do what you allow them to do so speak up or shut up. Personally, I think everyone who sits on the city counsil should be voted out including King George.

Has George even checked to see how much this will cost the city to annex all this property ? It will cost almost a million dollars i thought the city was broke all this property has to be surveyed every inch then all the paper work that has to go to the state. Does George even have a clue are will the city end up in a law suit ? Oh by the way if george brings in the prison in the city limits the city will have to cut there water and sewer bill to the inside the city litmits rate that will cost the city over a hundred thousand a month has george even thought of all the money the city will lose by doing this?

What would the citizens gain from being annexed into the city?
Obviously, the city wants to include these properties so they can tax them. However, the citizen who would be annexed in, would not get anything in return.
No city water
No sewage
No different trash pick up
No different fire department service
Extra laws and regulations
The only gain would be the City police would respond further. If you ask me, the Sheriffs Department and State police are doing a fine job right now.
Your home owners insurance policy is cheaper when located inside city limits, and, if you have fire, the fire department service is paid by your insurance policy, not you. The city fire department would come to your rescue, but, outside the city limits, there is a fee. This normal procedure for most of fire departments in the state too. Your trash pick up twice a week would be cheaper than an independent trash collector and is added into your water bill. I compared my water bill to a friend's bill who lives in Lyttleton, and mine was way far cheaper and theirs did not include trash pickup.

JenJen, My current home is covered under the city fire department, so my rates would not change if I were annexed in.

Also, where we currently live we do not have the city's water connection, so we will still have to pay more for our water than the current city residents.

I do not know about the trash pick up, but I don't think they intend on offering it either to the new area's.

This is just another way for the city to get more money in taxes, because if the city expands, they will be collecting city taxes from the property owners. More money for George to waste. He hasn't done one thing to help the people of Manchester except raise taxes. As for the insurance being cheaper your are foolish, I have to pay an extra 4 percent and it goes to the city.

Yes you are right. The additional population will allow the city to open three more liquor stores. But as far as the city growing we better hope not. The last time a corporation called the city with the promise of a plant. The city council spent $900000 for a piece of property that was bought for 130000$. We cant afford that type of growth. By thw way is the plant hiring yet?

Agree, you can review the city council minutes and view for yourself who supported and voted for the Y hollow fiasco. Facts speak volumes. Growth and development is important and city land size and city population makes a big difference when you approach capital investors and potential business leaders and ask them to consider your community.

I am opposed to tax increases if they are not legitimately proposed for specific purposes. It is up to the voters to hold elected officials accountable for budget priorities and expenditures.

Adding new voters to the city can help to hold the council members more accountable. A more diverse electorate is a good thing.
