I hope this aint the truth. Spurlock has put everything he has into making this a better basketball school. He wokrs with the kids and has camps and lets all children play in a league thatll make them better and get experience. A friend of mine said it was true, but I hope is isn't.

Kevin Spurlock, coach at Clay has interviewed and reportedly accepted the job. Got a package offer, his wife a job at an Attorney's office, two of his three girls will play HS ball, one will be 9th grader, one 7th grader and a 4th grader.
Isn't he from here?
This is what they have on the topix website from inez, ky.

Good Luck to Spurlock, hate to see him go, what will all the suck-ups do now? Ronnie's had a death grip on him since he arrived, he definitely swallows, Saff will pretend she swallows, then spits. Reckon where he was when she needed him to get her ass ou of the lastest bind? Combs, Marcum, Harvey are useless. Burchell has his head so far up his ass, when spurlock brushes his teeth, he can comb burchells hairpiece (what a fake). Woods/Burchell played his daughter over better/older players. Now she is gone, last year it was hinkles, who is it next yr?

Are you kidding me? "better basketball school"....The program has went to HELL!....the program is crap, no one supports Kevin, 97% of the county hate him, he is arogant, rude, disrespectful to all players and citizens of this county.
No local business will give the team any money. I've got news for you, all these litte PEE WEE games and BASKETBALL CAMPS he hosts, all that money goes strait into his pocket. He does nothing out of the goodness for the county.
If you don't believe this, please contact the super at Pike Central, that coaching job was offered to Spurlock last year, Kevin told them he would only take the job if the county would give him ALL the profit from camps. That's when Pike Central, pulled thier offer and sent him packing back to Clay County.

It's time for a change, before the program and tradition is no longer what the CLAY COUNTY TIGERS are all about.

That's what happens when you let local politics determine how to run a basketball program. Instead of coaching they let everyone have a say, and believe me, everyone wants the coach to play only certain players or coach in a certain style. Until you get a coach that can tell certain people to go sodomize themselves, you can safely bet they won't make it back to Rupp Arena anytime soon, let alone even dream of winning another state title.

WOW!!!!! Right on you are if you have ever been to a ballgame and just watched the fans...not all fans just CRITICS CORNER you would know that this person is right on the money....The KING still rules if he likes the coach and he plays who he says then the he is loved by all and the corner and if he tries to coach his way and play whom he thinks needs to play and the King doesn't agree then the coach soon meets his end at CCHS...I am shocked that Coach Spurlock made it as long as he did!!Just wait and see who the next head coach will be (here's a hint) it's a former CCHS player and he has a new assistant who's dad is a member of Critics Corner, oh and the new coach's dad was a former assistant CCHS Coach and Horse Creek Elem Coach and he will be back on the bench as well.....Stay Tuned

That's a sad fact in many rural schools. Just watch the movie "Hoosiers" as a prime example and for inspiration. Like I said, until the day comes that they get a coach that's not afraid to tell them what orifice to get sexual pleasure out of, they'll not see Rupp Arena again for a very long time, let alone even dream of another state title.

Now, I'm not taking up for anyone. Let me say that first, I want whats best for the program. But I will say, Clay County was spoiled with Bobby Keith. Winning all the time made us think we always could. Now I'm just as big of an ACTUAL fan as the next person. This isn't UK, u can't recruit all the talent in the country. You can only play with the talent in the county.(With random transfers here and there.) We're way to hard on our coaches since Keith. BUT!! I will also say that Clay County deserves a Hall of Fame coach like Keith. Then you can get your hopes back up!!

For the most part, Bobby Keith was an example of a coach who wasn't afraid to standup to certain people in the community and tell them where to shove it. Heck, he was even once jailed in Knott County over an incident there!! Certain people ran off most of his successors, they generally didn't stick around very long.

Why haven't we heard more about the man, ROBERT MARCUM, for Head Coach? This young gentleman has a winning spirit, which came from Home Grown Clay County coaching staff starting with LARRY DAY & IVY BURCHELL as grade school coaches. LARRY SIZEMORE & BOBBY KEITH AS 4YRS high school which earned Robert 4yrs tuition free at Alice Lloyd College, with the STEPPE BROS. coaches. Robert is a man who lives and breathes basketball. He loves the game, and it messes him up to loose, and he loves his boys that played under him, when he coached the freshman team, which they won every year that Robert Marcum coached them. He loves the people in Clay Co. He works with the youth at our church and has made even our church grow since Robert has been the leader. If I had a boy I surely would want Robert Marcum to be in his life one way or other.

even though i know this is an insult to steph truth is she would be better than what we had at least she knows what it takes to be a winner, for example look at the cheerleaders now. but, now i'm not saying get steph just had to comment on the fact that she'd beat the hell out of what we had.hahaha

I'm curious to who does the hiring is it the Principal, and the site base council at the High School, or the school board and the superintendent? Will they form a search Committee or just take applications? This will be Superintendant Samples first High Profile Hire and I have confidence that she'll choose what's best for the kids if outsiders will just let the process work.

REECIA will do her best to hire the right coach for the job. She has interest in athletics as well as academics. She supports all the students and wants to see CCHS back in the state tournament.

I'm not exactly sure who has the final say on the hiring of a coach (except maybe the personnel occupying the Critic's Corner). That is a good question.

I have a funny feeling that almost regardless of who gets hired, a lot of people are gonna turn on the new coach in a hurry. They'll usually love him at first, until they don't get their way.
