Rumor has it that numerous certified and classified employees were not rehired in the school system this year. Several of these individuals were first-class workers. Who determines who gets rehired?

The board members make that determination. For the first eight years, until a teacher has tenure, they can be dismissed at any time. Not sure about classified workers. Hope this helps.

Doesn't the principal have anything to do with it? It was pretty bad that they got signed up for training and everything this summer then didn't get rehired.

I just learned that the teacher i signed my child up for next year wasnt rehired and i am not happy about it... Its a joke the way this county is ran. The teachers that do there job don't get hired back I would like to know who makes this decision

The majority of these teachers are always rehired, every teacher without tenure gets a letter saying they won't be rehired then they end up getting their jobs back.

No Worries this has been the process for years and years.

The teacher I am talking about was told she would not be rehired. It is complete BS in my book. Very dedicated to her students and it is a shame.

this happens all the time they don't rehire teachers because of money issues but then hire someone in their place it don't make since if they can afford to pay a teacher why didn't they just leave the one that was there in the first place

This happened at my childs school she was looking forward to having her. My child loves her and couldn't wait to get in her room and they told her she would not be re-hired because of the budget but know I am hearing they have moved her to another school. Maybe they will get it lined out before school starts.

it told in the paper who didn't get rehired and who retired and who got moved if that helps you any I read it but I can't remember all of them Jennifer Farmer was moved to Manchester and it told who took her place but I can't remember and I think a pre-school teacher got moved I thought the board members and superintendent done the rehiring and moving of the teachers I don't know if the principal has any say in that or not

Number of students dictate need of teachers. Teacher performance also plays a part. Get used to it, don't do your job, you are gone!!

The 2 I have heard that were not being rehired were good teachers. I know for a fact one of them did an outstanding job with her students. I understand if you have less students then you have less teachers but when you getting rid of good teachers that are having good results and giving their jobs to someone else that is a problem!

Things are less political right now than they have ever been before in the clay county educational system, as best as I can figure a few folks who love topics around manchester are pissed off because their political connections don't mean squat anymore. If a teacher wan't rehired their was a reason for it plain and simple.
I'm proud of this board of education for finally stepping up and getting out of the way and allowing site based councils to make the best hires for our kids.
The board of education exist to educate our children not to provide jobs and economical support to the counties citizens. I for one hope that they run or remove every teacher in this county whose not doing their job.
Doug adams hired folks who didn't even have a teaching degree, over qualified teachers who needed a job for political reasons.
He changed job titles, and maneuvered and shuffled employees so he could place his cronies wherever they could make the most money or wherever wanted them and folks never said a word.

Hoolio, you have no idea what you are talking about. Yes I will agree that it is much less political than it was under Doug Adams but it still is political. I do not know all 4 people who are losing their jobs but I know 1. The one I know cares about her kids. Uses her own money in her classroom and spends countless of extra hours in her classroom. I pray that the board realizes that they are doing this teacher wrong.

I do agree with you that many teachers need put out that dont do their job. The problem is most of those teachers that dont do their job now have tenure.

Also I guarantee that a certain "big wig" at the boards daughter receives one of these job openings
