Does any one know why we have to pay a friging membership fee to Ky. Farm Bureau. We pay enough on or auto insurance that we shouldn't have to pay a membership fee. I see that 25 cent's goes for that sorry pamplet/magzine that they send out and that I don't want but what is the rest for?

Because KY Farm Bureau is an organization that happens to sell insurance -- not just an insurance company. The Bureau started out as a national civic group for farmers to gather support and lobby on behalf of farmers' issues. And like most civic groups and organizations, they charge a fee for membership into their group.

If you don't like the fact that this organization charges you for membership, then perhaps you should look for a company that is out only to sell insurance.

I think it helps pay for their so called free trips to their meetings and such. My family has had Farm Bureau for years. I don't agree with some of the things they do but it doesn't do much good to complain to them. I just don't agree that when one of the members on the board travels for the meetings that they are allowed to bring their spouse/partner and all the expenses are paid for through Farm Bureau. I can see the board members expenses but not a spouse or whoever they choose to bring. Some people take advantage of the trip and I think the expenses fall onto those who pay for the insurance every month. This is just my opinion. I don't know if it is used for that but I am sure you wouldn't know the truth unless you was high up in the company. I don't get my magazine from them half the time which the membership supposedly covers. Oh well. Thats life.

Thanks for the input you two. I understand a little more of why they charge a membership fee BUT I STILL don't like it. As I said I pay enough money for my auto(I have 2 cars and 2 truck's)insurance that it should be enough to cover any fee. I have been with farm bureau to long for it to benefit me to change company's. So I hate it and I believe it's a rip off but I'll guess I'll have to pay the dam thing.

What is the big 25.00 membership fee for. Is it for there Big Christmas party at the end of the year. People ought to contact the Better Business Bureau about this.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY FLORIDA CHARGES $50.00 MEMBER SHIP FEE AND OTHER STATES CHARGE ONLY $25.00. I WOULD LIKE TO SWITCH INSURANCE COMPANIES AND I WILL LOOK FOR ANOTHER ONE. UNFORTUNATELY I NEED MY BARN COVERED AND I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY OTHER COMPANIES DO THAT.
