<quoted text>Alcohol, illegal drugs, and tobacco use have zero to do with my statements. I am not talking about backyard or jail bird type tattoos. You would be surprised at the staggering numbers of good, honest, decent, hard working, educated adults that donn tattoos. Nothing wrong with any of these people that I mentioned earlier. Judging a book by it's cover is so close minded. My husband and I are well educated, have a child in colllege, own our home, run a business, attend church and never been to jail, never committed any crimes and know many people just like us and we all have tattoos. So what. It isn't hurting anyone. You are by no means better than we are and vise versa. It's becoming a part of American culture. Maybe you should shield your children and teach them at home.
First of all I'm glad your life is so wonderful! Just because something is part of American culture doesn't mean it's good or flaunted in front of children. Drugs, alcohol, pornography are all part of American culture too! If you dress like some thug don't be surprised or offended if people think your a thug! Just because you choose to do something doesn't mean you should do it in front other people's children! Instead of us hiding our children from this or other bad influences why don't you move to California........where this and behavior that you would approve of is considered good for everyone! Just remember in a society for better or worse you are judged by your actions & your life choices. Just because you don't see any wrong in showing tattoos to children doesn't give you the right to force your views on my kids! I don't think you'd want me to force my religious, or political views on your children or grandchildren!!!

Makes perfect sense. You just want to cram your views down everyone's throat, and completely ignore the irony of your statement.

You should be in politics. Only politicians pull out what parts of what people say to try to make a point. I'll use all of your statement. You were the one who wanted me to isolate my child & home school it so you could show off your ink. If you owned a business & wanted to show off tour tattoo fine. Then I can choose whether I want to stay or leave. In a public school you need to cover them so small children don't have to look at them. If that offends you then you should teach at a private school that likes that kind of expression, they probably even pay better. You shouldn't be allowed to indoctrinate small children with your ideas just because its part of American culture. With 2 degrees you should know that not everything in our culture should be taught to small children!

I'm not a politician and I'm not a teacher. I certainly never implied that you should homeschool your kid(s). I am respectful of the opinions and ideas of others. I am not arguing or belittling you in anyway, it is healthy to have a reasonable disagreement. I keep my tattoos covered when I am working and when I am at church. That isn't to say that I am ashamed of them, but I know the stigma associated with someone who has tattoos. When I am not working or at church, I feel it is fine to allow my tattoos to show. It isn't my place to indoctrinate any child, except for my own. I don't try to indoctrinate any one else's child, period.

I have a question if there is nothing wrong with anyone having tattoos then why do educated people who have them hide them or have them removed if they can you don't hide something unless it is something you are ashamed of if you were proud of it you would let everyone see it dress like a thug act like a thug and you will be thought of as a thug don't get mad when everyone doesn't agree with you that tattoos are pretty and that everyone should accept people having them doesn't work that way

Not all tattoos are in places that could be shown in public. Not all people with tattoos are trashy. Not all tattoos are trashy. Some are beautiful, some not so much. Some have beautiful stories behind their creation, some have no forethought. It all depends on the individual. Beauty is skin deep in some situations. This is a beautifully diverse world and we are each entitled to our opinions. Would I rip off my clothes in public and scare children with my tattoos? Absolutely not! Are mine offensive, in poor taste, or ugly? No. They are beautiful and have meaning to me. Very spiritual actually. If the only complaint I had was whether or not it would be harmful to a child, then I wouldn't worry. Like I said, you would surprised to know how many people have ink that are in contact with children on a daily basis.

I know a lot of professionals, such as teachers, nurses, lawyers, etc. that have tattoos. I just so happen to be one of these professionals and I have a tattoo. You yourself need to be more educated and not so ignorant!

Thank you for your thought. I am a college educated female and I have visible tattoos. People in all walks of life that like tats have them. My sister is also educated and she has tats as well. The problem with this world right now is that people worry about what every one else is doing. Be your own person and your life will be less stressful.

if it looks trashy then it is trashy if you wasn't ashamed of your tats then you wouldn't cover them up
