there is growing concern about things happening in our government with people being in power way to long, many voters feel there should be term limits, Sen. Rand Paul spoke last week saying, " 12 years should be enough for any congressman or senator." Would people be willing to vote for a younger more proactive, libertarian/Constitutionalist, type Republican over Hal Rogers?

I am a Conservative Republican. I wouldn't vote for Hal, Mitch or Rand again if they were the only candidates on the ballot, and if I would win a thousand dollars and brand new convertible car for doing so. What are they doing for Kentucky that is so great? I wish that someone could explain that. Look what is happening to our coal jobs. Why aren't we getting any other jobs here in southeastern Kentucky when we lose a coal job? We are being ignored by our politicians. I am thinking about my kids' future. I worry about them. I don't have the means to move out of this state right now, and I don't really want to anyway because most of my family and friends live in Kentucky. I don't want to vote for a Democrat, but I certainly won't vote for Hal, Mitch or Rand again.
I am a liberal democrat and I agree with you. My advice would to be check in on the background of the democrats you dont want to vote for And of the republicans you vote for just because of their political standing. I have made my voting decisions based on the voting records of the candidates. Neither side is going to do things we 100% like. But as a mother myself, I have to say democrats are more for our children. Just personal opinion. Because of Obamacare, all 3 of my kids have insurance. I can get affordable insuarance as well :) But its not just that, its many other things that make the candidate. I'm not saying all republican candidates are bad but we are a red state that benefits more from blue state ideas (EBT, insurance, welfare, entitelments as people like to call them.) You should really research the candidates that are for coal and how they have helped coal in the past. McConnel is discussing coal ONLY because he is up for reelection. But his democrat opponent Alison Grimes is behind coal as well. McConnell only does things for KY near election time. But every vote is imperative. I beg you to research democratic ideas before you knock them all. Im a hardcore liberal but I have voted many times for a republican when his beliefs and ideas represented what would take us forward.
To be fair, my grandfather said this is not the first time coal was under attack. In the 60's basically every working man moved out of KY to Ohio and Indiana because all the coal companies were shutting down. Its an up and down roller coaster with coal companies, the EPA and the elected officials. Coal will come back again. It may take a while but till start back up and more jobs will be available. Hang in there!
