Ok candidates, supporters, family or whoever, let's hear it. What is each candidates plan on how they are going to budget and spend our tax dollars over the next 4 years? The county budget is posted in the Manchester enterprise, so every candidate has had access to it. What is each candidates ideas for what they are going to do over their first 6 months in office? If you are a legit contender, you should be able to answer this. How are you going to get more money into the county for all these things that are wanted done? Like jobs, things for kids to do, and other things from their plans. Mudslinging, personal attacks, name calling is second to what each candidate claims they have to offer the taxpayers. It doesn't matter that they are a "good guy". What matters is what they can, will and plan to do as county judge. So, let's hear some plans!!

I never expected many people to get detailed about the election. I've decided to make an attempt to speak with each candidate. I will have to track most of them down myself, only one has came to my holler to work for votes and that is kind of surprising. I spoke with another in town the other night. I will share what they have told me with how they will be the best choice for county judge. I am asking other voters to speak with the candidates also and let everyone know what they hear about what they plan to do.

After speaking with Joe Asher, he doesn't seem to have any new plans for how he manages and leads the county. He stated that the issue concerning the swimming pool is a city issue and that the county has nothing to do with rebuilding and financing that situation. Basically all he could say was, people expect more from the county than it is able to provide with the limited budget it has at this time. The county is not responsible to provide entertainment for it's youth, it would just lose more money with trying to keep up a big community center, that is a risk for private individuals to make. He didn't have an answer for why the county would build industrial parks, when they don't have any takers to build any type of industry here to supply jobs. Basically, it doesn't look like he has any plans to do anything different. Just continue as things have been going for the past 30 years. At least he didn't promise to bring the fabled Route 66 through clay co, like every county judge has promised since 1990.

I'm hoping to speak with some of the other candidates over the next few days. I'm hoping they will be able to be legit with what they plan to do. It would be nice to have at least some of their supporters get on here and speak for them, they should know what their favorite candidates have in mind on what they are going to do.

Why doesn't the county allow the community building on Greenbriar road next to the ball park to be used for youth entertainment. To my knowledge the only purpose for this building is be rented out and cost people of this county for its use. Electricity is high but it does not cost 300.00 worth of electric for a day's use. The county judge should look into bringing something into the building at least once a month for youth entertainment. This should be an issue for the next county judge.

I agree with you and I would also like to add that they block the parking lot next to the building even when it hasn't been rented so that people can't park there during baseball season or when they are having other events at the ballpark. I believe we pay taxes and we should be allowed a decent place to park.

If, according to Judge Asher, the swimming pool is a city matter and the county has no responsibility with its upkeep, I want my county tax money back! I pay both city and county taxes, and have the same rights to county services as those living outside the city limits. Correct me if I'm wrong but the swimming pool is not limited to city residences only.

I agree and that has created a very dangerous situation because now parents and fans and their kids are having to park in the VFW parking lot, the Burchell Field parking lot, and on the edge of the highway and are having to walk on the edge of the road to get to the fields. Very lucky someone has not been hit by a vehicle yet. Very limited sight distance along that stretch of road.

Americans tend to hold the President responsible for overseeing job creation and economic progress in our country. Countians likewise look to our own chief executive to provide similar efforts.

Many cities do budget for facilities and services such as parks and recreation. Larger cities often partner with private interests to construct public arenas as well as conference and convention centers. Schools, libraries, industrial parks along with workforce development and training centers are usually publicly financed.

I agree with you. Very good points. Our problem on some level also come from lack of local private interest willing to take the risk of putting the money out there to partner with local gov. When it comes to these types of projects in other counties and cities are they raise money through more taxes. It would be great to see some honest, well meaning deal between our local gov and private interest.
These are the types of issues the candidates should be discussing for us all to see and hear. None of the candidates give us any insight what they think or really plan to do. That's why I started this thread, hopefully they could learn from the voters and give us some reasons to vote for them. Thanks for that reply.

You are right its not limited to city residences only. What does the swimming pool have to do with the city anyways? It's not in city limits is it??? I don't know maybe it is, but I didn't think city limits went down that far....If the swimming pool was repaired and cleaned up, and the right people running it, it would do good. When you let something run down, never update it, people will quit going to it. That's what happens to most business around here, they start new and clean, then when not took care of they get nasty and run down, and nobody wants to be around where they might catch something because of the neglect of keeping the place clean.

It's a shame the swimming pool has never been fixed yet and the Mayor has said for two years grant money was coming in also. You should see how bad the Rec. Bldg. looks on the inside also, it is a mess. Needs a lot of work, the city has let it run down to. I also blame the city council , they have a voice and a vote so if they haven't spoke up in two years I say not one of them deserves to be elected back in. Lets get people in that's new and ready to stand up and not afraid to speak up and change things. So vote for new and let's make a difference.

Companies such as a Toyota plant, recycling center, call center, data entry!!! All of these would be wonderful options and positions that will be needed long term! Get Kevin Jackson on there and he will seek out companies!!!

Here is some facts for you (1) do you realize if they expand the road from the red lights to save a lot it will be wider then the parkway.(2) I don't care who is county judge until we get a better access road , airport or rail system into clay county no large growing company will come here.(3) the last but most important thing is clay counties work force, how many of you so called experts think these people drawing a check and getting foodstamps, electric bills paid, free phones and God only know what else some idiot politician will dream up to keep them voting their way will take a job, man get real face reality. I got a question what in the heck is all these people running for a small low paying job such as county judge? I wonder if they think they be getting like in the past money slipped under the table, in back rooms or just plain con the people. They are not one of these candidates that can do miracles, clay growth depends on like everything else state growth, nation growth, its citizens and people getting a willingness to want something other then excepting hand outs from government and listening to idiots blaming someone else for there problems.

The only candidate that seems to have any type of plan is Mobley, you do not need go to every corner of this county to figure out what the problem is, everyone knows what the problems are. We need someone whose willing to think outside the box, and the only candidate that seems to be wiling to do that is Mobley. No company/factory is going to relocate here, we do not have a qualified workforce, were located in the boon docks, smokestack chasing isn't the answer we might as well face it. Agriculture is the way to go, get out in front of this hemp farming, lets get some wineries up and running get the county producing grapes. This could be the most important election for Clay County in a long time, think about who you would want to angle your children's future and who you'd want balancing your checkbook and that's who to vote for. In reality that's exactly what you doing anyway giving them the keys to a big part of your life.
