Let me tell you Manassas is not a very nice place its very congested and the gang thing is true but you know you get good and bad everywhere you go you may want to ask yourself if the people who responded are real estate agents tring to make it sound good.If I was you I would also take a look at a town called WARRENTON,Marshall,Linden, mayb e even Culpepper county you dont have to live in Manassas its mostly low income housing and very rich people on the outskits if you dont like feeling like a sardine dont go there oh and traffic getting out of Manassas is bad too

Manassas, Dale City are both good places to live. I currently work for Kloke United Van lines in Manassas, driving from Triangle, VA. There are many new homes in the area and the prices are falling. If you have any questions about moving to Manassas, please call 1-800-289-0332. I'd be more than happy to help you.

I've lived in Dale City and Triangle VA. I work in Manassas. Manassas is a nice area to live and has great schools. Try Manassas Park. If you have any questions regarding moving I'd be more than happy to help you. Call 1-800-289-0332. Kloke United Van Lines.

My advice is to commute to Manassas, better yet Prince William County. Prince William County is very stale, people all dress alike (khakis) and are basically intolerable of others. If you like diversity, prince William county is not it. Lots of white folks who are scared that "other" are infiltrating their God fearing communities. Check out Fairfax County instead. Lots of diversity, strong communities, low crime rate etc. The folks in prince William County all look so sad and serious.

I have to say that I am appauled by these comments. Yes, Manassas isn't super super ritzy but it used to be amazing! The immigration thing is going to clean up this town and you will see! There are very bad areas in EVERY state. Manassas is no where near the DC area (in regards to crime). I do not live in Manasssas anymore, by choice and by job, but it will always be home to me. There are many pretty areas in the PWC area. Check out all of the beautiful homes off of Stonewall Rd. and some of the gorgeous homes in Sumner Lake near Plantation Lane. Manassas isnt all bad. Good luck

Btw - toward the person from springfield. Springfield is disgusting. Its dirty and filled with the absolute worst of the worst (regards to people). Don't spend anytime at Springfield Mall unless you wanna get mugged or raped.

Finally, someone sticks up for poor little Manassas. I agree Manasas is not the most glamorous place to live but it has some really nice middle and upper class neighborhoods along with the "ghetto" homes that have been so unfairly referred to. I grew up in the Alexandria/Springfield area and would no way trade Manassas for Springfield. PWC schools are great and not nearly as crowded as Fairfax County. Talk about traffic, you can't move in Springfield almost anytime day or night because of the congestion. The only reason that people get the impression that there is so many immigrants in PWC is because of the amount of publicity the county is getting over the immigrant crack down. We don't have anymore problems with that than Fairfax county. Regarding moving to Warrenton or other counties west of Manassas, where do you think all the PWC immigrants are going. I'd think twice about moving west if you're opposed to living next door to immigrants. Besides this nation was founded by immigrants. Some of you people need to get a grip. What are you afraid of? These people mostly want the same things you and I want. A safe and happy home and family. Get a life.....I'd rather live next door to a hard working immigrant family than some of the lazy bums that were born and raised in upper class families in the good old USA. Anyhow, for anyone thinking about Manassas, it is a nice place to live but like everywhere there are places that you would be better off avoiding.

Seriously, Manassas is not ghetto no matter what people might tell you. There is one spot Georgetown South that used to be extremely gang infested in the early 90's and early 2000's there were some problems but it’s gotten a lot better in my opinion. There are a lot of immigrants but you can’t compare NOVA to Los Angeles or any other highly illegal immigrated area in the us. Get real. You remember the guy that got his penis cut off? Yeah he was from Manassas. I believe it was the Lorena Bobbit that cut her husbands penis off and threw it in the street. Anyways Manassas is about as exciting as a trailer park party on Friday nights. lol. Try Alexandria, Falls Church, Arlington ect for a better/ fun place to live in Northern Virginia. Or move to D.C. sure crime is ridiculous but there is plenty to do that’s where I have lived for the past 5 years now.

Just don't move to Manassas it sucks. Its boring. I can't beleive they call that place a city.

I saw someone mention Kingsbrooke in Bristow. If you have any interest in using the community pool, then DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER KINGSBROOKE!
The only pool is monopolized durng the evening hours in June and July each year by the swim team. And the kids on the team do not even have to live at Kingsbrooke, ie, their famiies do not pay hoa dues year round. The kids fill up the pool at 7 pm several nights a week, and they have the pool exclusively between 8 pm and 9 pm most nights - the POOL IS NEVER OPEN FOR HOMEOWNERS AFTER 8 PM, BUT IS OPEN FOR THE SWIM TEAM AFTER 8 PM EITHER 5 OR 6 NIGHTS A WEEK. At 50 dollars a month for HOA dues ( and they have gone up from 35 dollara a month to 50 dollara a month in just the 2 years I have lived here), one would expect to be able to use the pool.
If you still want to move here, then be prepared to see piles of trash on the curb 2 nights/mornings a week. Some folks have had to eliminate the use of the nice big garbage cans provided by the trash pickup service because the HOA complains if the garbage cans stay out too long. So expect trash to be piled up on the curb sans a garbage can on the 2 days a week that trash is picked up.
As far as Manassas and PW county are concerned, if police activity is any indication then there is plenty of crime to go around and it probably will never be too humdrum. It is not unusual to see folks milling around late at night - seems to be lots of car breakins - and one day in broad daylight I watched a young man push a gun into the pocket of his jacket as he walked across a field. Plus the sniper that killed folks while pumping gas actually killed someone near Bull Run at the intersection of I234 and Balls Ford road. I was one of the first folks to know this since I drove by here shortly after it happened and witnessed all the yellow police tape.
So never a dull moment. Come on down!!

Glass half-empty?

Once the school years ends, the swim team practices at the community pool before & after normal operating hours. During those hours the swim team pays for the pool operation. Most swimmers ARE residents of the community.

I'm sure there are some very safe full service retirement homes where they take the trash out)you can move to outside the county.

We live in Haymarket & love the schools. How old are your children? I have one at Mountain View Elem., Bull Run Middle ( the best as far as I'm concerned )& one at Battlefield High. Schools are what's inportant to look at as far as I'm concerened & there is some big differences in this area. Good luck!

Haymarket and Gainesville are close to Manassas and nice places to live. I bought a new condo in Haymarket last February. I really like the area!

While there are some parts of Manassas you want to stay away from - there are some really nice and cool areas of Manassas. There are some pretty good restaurants in Manassas, particularly in the Old Town section.

Our problem is finding a place/town/city to live in that is not so expensive but that is close to his job in Manassas. I tried looking on a map but its not really any help. We dont want to be in the middle of nowhere neither. Any input, ideas, Suggestions, photos would be greatly appreciated. Welcome to the area! I personally live in Bristow and I absolutely love it!! It is very very safe and you don't have to worry too much, there are some bad areas in Manassas so be careful...if I was going to live in Manassas I would check with Raven's Crest apartments, Tangelwood Apartments, or Rosemary Ridge...all very nice...:)

Honestly, there are soooo many apartments for sale right now that a lot of people are looking to rent their townhomes, houses, and condos so I would contact a real estate agent and see what they have available!:) Happy hunting!
