I SMOKE. Now that is out of the way. I am trying to quit as well as so many others. Most of you are right it is an addiction.Just like booze, drugs, weed or anything else you gotta have.Think about detoxing yourself from nicotine,it is working for me.I was smoking bout 2-3 packs a day,and then I started detox.Day 1- Smoke 1 cigarette every half hour for the whole day. Day 2- Smoke 1 cig every 45 minutes.Day 3- Smoke 1 cig every hour on the hour.Continue to increase time by 15 minutes each day until you are totally free of nicotine. After 4 days I am down from 40-50 cigarettes a day to about 14-15 a day.It is not easy there is no miracle,But I promise it is working. Please give it a try. I'll check here daily for updates.Good Luck and Prayers to all.

Hi. Maybe we can do this together - stop smoking. I have gone "cold turkey" since Jan. 10th. About three or four times a day I really, really want a cig. The rest of the time I am busy - so that might work for me - being busy. Let's keep in touch and let each other know how we are doing.

I have smoked for the better part of my life and I am not going to lie. I LOVE TO SMOKE!!!!!!!!! They smell good, they taste good!!!!!!!!If they weren't so damn good it would be easy, huh? But I have smoked for about 29 to 30 years and just the thoughts of quitting makes me cringe....But I know I need to so I am trying. If I never quit at least 1/2 pack is better than 3.. Yea,we all need all the support we can get....

Over the years I have tried everything on the market. Over the counter and from doctors, and so far nothing has came close to helping me. But this detox thing makes sense and is working. This is the treatment a lung specialist recommended for a person with a lot of illness and really couldn't take any additional meds that would not react with what they had to take to live.

Hey, I am on day 34 - cold turkey - and like I said before - I still want to smoke about three or four times a day but I don't have any around me so I guess that helps. Hope everyone is doing okay with trying to stop.

I am also trying to quit. I have tried the patches and lozenges, but I couldn't use those. The patch hurt my arm, and the lozenge burned my mouth. I don't know if those were *normal* side effects or if it was due to me being a diabetic and it interacted with my meds. I started taking Chantix and the first week wasn't so bad, but when I moved into the second week [which doubles the dosage from week 1], it started making me feel awful. I honestly felt like I was going to pass out after I took the pill. I've kept a headache since I started taking them. I think I am going to try the detox method that you suggested. It may actually work for me. Being diabetic and smoking is bad enough, but now we're trying for baby #1...so I HAVE to quit, and the sooner the better! Thanks for starting this topic..finally something good and meaningful to talk about! Good luck everyone!!

their number is 1* 8*7*7* 9*6*6* 8*7*8*4
just call them they will ask what insurance you have which dont worry i dont have any just something they have to ask i guess, then they ask on a scale of 1 to 10 how much you want to quit etc. they get your info and mail you a waiver form to fill out and to put a copy of your drivers license and as soon as they get that they will send out the patches free of charge, and i think its like three months or something you get and you also get a phone coach that calls you as well to help, good luck to you with quitting ill be right along with ya!

Hey, today makes 36 days without a cig. I went shopping with my daughter (she does not smoke and never has) but for me it was a day that I thought about a cig. all day. Hope I can make it.

I went to the doctor and got some Chantix. It really worked for me. It does help you kick the craving. I took it for 12 weeks, you can take it for 24 weeks but I only needed it for the first 12.
I still every once in a while want a cigg but it goes away. My last Chantix pill was in like Feb. and I'm still smoke free.
