Only if u hand them over to them. There are 43 million registered hunters in the USA. It's the largest army in the WORLD! If we all ban together, we can put a stop to this shit today. 43 million. Think about it....

The reason for this amendment "the right to bare arms" was for the citzens of this country to protect itself. if ever a communist type goverment would try to take root on this soil. At the start of world war 2 the emporer of japan was offered the ideal of invading the mainland of the united states. He in his wisdom declined to do so because of his knowlage of guns the citizenship had possesed, he was not worried about the united states army, he was more worried about the amount of guns the citizens possesed.Keith is correct its about sticking together. Lately we have got lazy and let the government run our free lives. If our guns are taken away there is no blame to be put on anyone besides ourselves. JOIN THE NRA NOW !!!!!!!

Little by little they take our rights away, it happens over time not all at once so we don't realize it.. We have no privacy anymore "big brother" sees everything. Today they want to ban tactical rifles, next month, year, it'll be another type of firearm. And when people realize it, it will be too late. The second amendment is our right as free men and women to bear arms and it will not be infringed.. Will its happens now. And people say "oh it's just these bad semi auto rifles they banning". Come on now, every gun shoots a bullet, every gun can kill, when it's in the wrong hands. And it protects when it's in the right hands.

Buy as much ammunition as you can right now. I been buying Target rounds for a 45 by the thousands. 600 rounds for a 270 and 10 cases of shotgun shells. Telling you folks, buy as much as possible. There is a war coming. The second amendment was established so we the people of the united states could protect themselves from any enemy and a government take over.

If the current administration bans guns by congressional vote or executive order their only accomplishment will be to turn America into a nation of criminals. 43 million of us.

Criminals to them maybe, but not to this nation.

Exactly. With 43 million registered gun owners we will look like a nation of criminals. Tuesday Biden is scheduled to release recommendations for his gun violence task force. The Obama administration will make the changes through full power executive order. Any time there's a massacre like Sandy Hook more people jump on the anti-gun bandwagon. Obama's administration should instead focus on awareness & improving mental health for the people responsible to keep it from getting to this point. I think we're all for making changes to help this problem but they're barking up the wrong tree with their "Obama is coming to take your guns" theme. Thomas Jefferson said, "every difference of opinion is not a difference of principle."

I am sure I will get blasted (no pun intended); the Second Amendment was designed to provide a military force for a nation that built milita rosters from its local citizenry. The colonies were, in essence, independent government units, which had no money to afford weapons of its own; the right of the people to keep and bear arms was to ensure that these militas would be well-maintained. The Second Amendment was not intended to guard against a tyrannical government (and I doubt non-military trained gun owners will ever provide the kind of persuasive resistance to over the nuclear capabilities of our government). That is not to say that the Second Amendment is altogether useless though; it is quite useful to protect one's interests in defending themselves.

A large part of the gun control debate is not whether there should be a categorial and absolute criminalization of ALL guns. Rather, it is primarily about the role of semi-automatic assault rifles and whether they are necessary for the protection of one's self.

There are two questions that I think people are deeply searching for answers: 1) Can we minimize the loss of life by preventing access to instruments which cause mass casualty?, and 2) Does the interest of the people to prevent loss of life through a ban on semi-assault rifles outweigh the enjoyment and security that gun owners receive in using such rifles for purposes of self-defense or recreation?

There is ample evidence that of the 61 mass shootings, which have occurred in the past 7 years; 10 out of the 61 were committed with illegal guns. This means that 51 out of 61 mass shootings were carried out with guns that were either legally obtained or were taken from someone who legally owned the gun. The question in the debate is whether reducing access to a gun that has caused such severe damage will reduce the loss of life.

Please notice that I am not saying that it will eliminate violence; it probably won't. However, we know that most mass shooters do not look for similar semi-automatic weapons when they cannot have access to them; instead, they seek out any weapons which will help them carry out their agenda (i.e. a handgun, knives, etc.).

I am NOT making the argument that we need less guns or ban them altogether. That is probably unreasonable, particularly since we live in a country that is riddled with gang violence and drug trafficking which brings with it the trafficking of illegal guns.

However, I am suggesting that we should have a reasonable dialogue about our collective efforts to ensure that children remain safe, that gun owners can enjoy their right to ownership, and that America is a safer place.
