How many MORE people have to die before the police start doing their job and STOPPING these speeders by radar? It is sicken drying to and from work every day because of people who do well over 65 -70 mile per hr.

Blood Alley? As a volunteer firefighter who has been to a number of these accidents on the Southern State Parkway, I can say with some authority on the matter that it is not the road's fault that these terrible accidents take place. The drivers of these cars are responsilble for thier own deaths, by engaging in high speed, reckless driving and all too often alcohol as well as drugs.

Speed is a factor but the road is not safe. Take a look at the rusted guard rails, missing sections of rail, lack of police patrol. It's a nightmare and nothing is being done about it!

There NEEDS to be more state police on ALL parkways and the expressway. I travel on these roads and RARELY see police presence unless there is an accident. Where are these cops?---Dunkin Donuts---Seven 11---parking lot napping?????

LI thoroughfares are NOT speedways. More police presence and enforcement of the speed limit and traffic laws will reduce accidents and deaths on these highways.

55 should get you there alive.

Stop blaming the Police. Do you think they would be able to stop idiots like this ? What the hell is wrong with you. If a car blows by you doing 90 or 100 MPH whos going to catch him ? BLAME THE DRIVER PERIOD.

So tell me if the rail was new, would that have saved this idiot ?? Why do you people insist on making such stupid comments. I tell you what I'll list all the people that should be blamed.

1. Blame the Police for spending too much time in Dunkin Donuts and not stopping these maniacs

2. Blame Robert Moses, he designed the Parkway and the overpasses. Maybe he shouldnt have used concrete and block for the overpass and should have made the roadway straighter.

3. Blame the Mercedes Dealer, Im guessing they never told the dirver that driving this vehicle at 100MPH into a cement wall will cause injury or death.

4. Blame the manufacturer as well, Im sure its not printed anywhere in the manual either.

Wake up you morons, I have driven this Parkway everyday for the last 15 years and Im still alive. Well Im smart enough to know if I drive into a wall I might get hurt. Stop making excuses for the stupidity of these drivers. Lucky this idiot didnt kill anyone else.

It's part of the Black Experience 2007, another bunch of leftist excuse making and mythology we ordinary citizens, black, white and otherwise have to put up with. Slavery, oppression, denial of civil rights are what's gravitating these boys to act out their defiance on our roadways. I had no idea these boys from 'Danch and Amityville were even around during the Civil War. "Waaaaahhh, waaaaahhh! I want the right to speed in my Mercedes or I'll file for reparations!"

If the roadway isn't safe, then people need to SLOW DOWN! The police will never be able to stop every individual that speeds on any roadway whether they are around or not. When you get into your car and speed to your destination, you are taking your life and the lives of others into your own hands. But no matter how many times you read of fatal accidents due to excessive speed, alcohol, drugs, or anything of that sort, people will still continue to drive like maniacs and continue to die. Seems to be a never ending cycle.

As you are entitled to your own opinion...I would like to add; perhaps the driver was speeding well in excess of 55mph, maybe he was driving 60mph, you don't know the exact facts of the case. You appear to be an intelligent person, yet you neglect to take into consideration that family members, friends, and loved ones of the deceased are also posting comments and reading YOUR comments. So continually referring to the deceased as "this idiot", on a public blog none the less, is rude, insensitive, callous, and apathetic. Despite how you may feel about the conditions of what caused this accident and who is to blame, you should have some respect...jackass.
