How Mitt Romney Suckered His Fat-Cat Donors:
Mitt Romney didn't lead Barack Obama for a single day of the campaign in Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight forecast, the Princeton Election Consortium's forecast, the Rand Corporation's model or the Electoral College forecasts offered by poll aggregators like Talking Points Memo and Real Clear Politics. The base may have shrugged that off as widespread and systematic “bias” on the part of pollsters and numbers crunchers, but campaign hacks are news junkies and while they could have believed a comeback win was possible, the notion that they saw it as a sure thing – sure enough that Mitt Romney didn't bother to even prepare a concession speech – just doesn't pass the smell test.
If one believes the insiders' accounts, the Romney campaign was basing its strategy on its own “unskewed” internal polls. CBS reported that “their internal polling showed them leading in key states, so they decided to make a play for a broad victory: go to places like Pennsylvania while also playing it safe in the last two weeks.”
A more likely scenario emerges when you consider how Romney's campaign was financed, relying on a small pool of very deep-pocketed donors. As Michael Scherer put it back in July,“Mitt Romney is struggling to get everyday people to give small amounts to his campaign.”
#43037 Nov 19, 2012
By September, almost 90 percent of the donations to the Romney-aligned super-PACs – which were doing the heavy lifting in terms of advertising – exceeded $100,000, according to the New York Times . Only 23 percent of the campaign's donations were under $200 (compared to 56 percent for Obama).
And by the time the conventions rolled around, it looked like the money was beginning to dry up. In September, the New York Times reported,“Mitt Romney entered the final months of the presidential campaign with a cash balance of just $35 million,” and was “racing to find new large donors.” The Romney team “grew so short of available cash that his campaign borrowed $20 million and sharply curtailed advertising.” When that report came out – as Romney and Ryan were “racing to find new large donors”– Nate Silver's model gave them just a 23.9 percent chance of winning. By the end of September, the likelihood of a Romney victory was down to 15 percent – hardly a good bet for a gambling man like casino magnate Sheldon Adelson.

As Bob Biersack, senior fellow at the Center for Responsive Politics, told CBS, the GOP's big donors “have to feel a little bit embarrassed,” which is “not a common experience for them. They'll have to evaluate how they spent the money and what might be a better use of that kind of resource." He added that "it'll be a harder sell" for Rove and other big-money bundlers the next time around.
With so many big dollars at stake, it would have been disastrous for the GOP's fattest cats to catch on to the fact that they'd been conned; that the campaign had intentionally exaggerated Romney's chances in order to keep the cash flowing. So a few of Romney's senior staffers went to a couple of reliable Beltway reporters and sold them a story of a campaign that had been utterly shocked to have lost – as shocked as they'd be to discover that there's gambling in Casablanca.
That scenario is far more likely than the notion that they were completely suckered by their own rather obvious spin.

President Øbama says, "The path we offer may be harder, but it leads to a better place."
But how much more debt will this country have to accumulate before we reach that better place?
A better and peaceful world is possible — a world where people and nature come before profits.
That’s our vision.
We are the Communist Party USA.

President Obama took office in the first quarter of 2009, when median household income was $54,797.63. As of the last quarter of 2011, median household income was $52,377.21.
This was the interval Mr. Zandi suggested using to check Mr. Romney’s statement, and it shows an income drop of $2,420.42. That’s not $3,000, of course, but it’s still pretty bad.
One could also reasonably argue that it might be more appropriate to use the quarter before Mr. Obama took office as the baseline, rather than the quarter in which he was sworn in. In the fourth quarter of 2008, median household income was about $55,380.17.
Starting from that quarter gives us a decline of $3,002.96, almost exactly the number Mr. Romney cited.

Welfare At All-Time High Under Øbama
A record 5.4 million workers have applied for federal disability checks since President Obama took office, according to a news report that cites recent government figures.
This is straining already-stretched government finances while posing a long-term economic threat by creating an ever-growing pool of permanently dependent working-age Americans, the report says.
Since the recession supposedly ended in mid 2009, the number of people who have applied for disability benefits is double the job growth figure, according the report which includes an informative chart.
In just the first four months of this year, 539,000 joined the disability rolls and more than 725,000 applied for the federal benefit.
That means nearly 11 million people are on disability, according to the Social Security Administration.

Under Obamacare, Medicare Double Taxation Begins in 2013
( CNSNews.com )- A provision of President Obama’s health care law imposes a second Medicare tax on investment income for Americans classified as wealthy, effectively raising taxes on investment income and taxing investors twice.
The provision, a little-known part of ObamaCare, levies a 3.8 percent Medicare tax on investment income for couples making more than $250,000 or individuals making more than $200,000 a year.
The tax is scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2013.
Currently, the government levies a 2.9 percent Medicare payroll tax on all wages, with half (1.45%) paid by the individual and half by the employer.
Beginning in 2013, couples making more than $250,000 (or individuals making $200,000) will have to pay an additional 3.8 percent Medicare tax on any investment income (unearned income) they might have.
#43044 Nov 19, 2012
Note that, because the government is not a wealth-generating entity, the more it spends, the more resources it has to take from wealth generators.
This means that the effective level of tax here is the size of the government and nothing else.

Twice As Many Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan under Obama than 8 years of Bush – No Outrage
There have been 1954 U.S. soldiers killed so far in the Afghanistan war according to icasualties
1324 of those Deaths have occurred in less than 3 1/2 years under Obama while only 630 of those deaths occurred in 8 years under George W. Bush
WHY NO MEDIA OUTRAGE?
I remember when Bush was President the Liberal Media stations and news outlets had daily updates of the number of U.S. Soldiers killed with pictures and everything. Now It is almost hard to find out how many soldiers are dying every day because when a soldier dies now it is not on the front page or sometimes not even reported at all.
I am not going to get into any discussions of whether or not wars are right or wrong. The point of this blog post is to show that the media is clearly showing their bias and hypocrisy by no longer Bashing Obama over the deaths like they bashed Bush.
THE MEDIA IS PROTECTING OBAMA
The media apparently does not care about the Soldiers or about how many were dying. If they did then they would have continued attacking Obama over the rising U.S. Soldier death toll.
The media only reported those death numbers under Bush because they wanted to try to indoctrinate the general public with negative views of Bush. Now that Obama is in office, they are backing off and trying to protect him from negative attention from the rising U.S. Soldier death toll.
Over twice as many U.S. soldiers have died in Afghanistan under Obama in 3 1/2 years than did under Bush in 8 years! Have you heard any major news station of media outlet say that? When is the last time you even saw a death toll number with made up milestones?
Where are all of the anti-war protesters now? Why no big rallies?
This tells me that these groups and the media never really cared as much about the deaths of the soldiers as they cared about just hating Bush and trying to make him look bad.

BUSH TAX CUTS VS. OBAMA STIMULUS
President Barack Obama is presiding over what even CBS News admits is “the worst economic recovery America has ever had.” During this “recovery,” unemployment has been over 8 percent for 43 months in a row. The President has tried to spin his way out of these numbers, recently announcing,“Today we learned that after losing around 800,000 jobs a month when I took office, business once again added jobs for the 30th month in a row, a total of 4.6 million jobs.” While not perfect, he admits, this performance is better than what we can expect to see under President Romney, who wants to return, says Obama, to “the failed policies of the past,” that is, to “the same tax cuts and deregulation agenda that helped get us into this mess in the first place.”
The idea that George W. Bush was some kind of deregulator is easily debunked: as Obama himself admitted,“I have approved fewer regulations in the first three years of my presidency than my Republican predecessor did in his.”
But Bush did indeed cut taxes, most notably in 2003. Did that policy “fail”? How did it’s results compare to Obama’s record?
It’s true that the private sector has added 4.6 million new jobs over the past 30 months. But during the 30 months after the Bush tax cuts went into effect in August 2003, the private sector actually added even more jobs – 5.3 million according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Current Employment Survey.
Moreover, the new jobs added under Obama have been lower-paying jobs, reducing real median household income by more than $2,000; the Bush tax cuts, in contrast, enabled the private sector to add more jobs while simultaneously increasing real median household income, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, Race and Hispanic Origin of Householder — Households by Median and Mean Income: 1967 to 2011.
As a result, under Obama in the last three years, 2.7 million more Americans fell into poverty. In contrast, during the three years following the enactment of the Bush tax cuts, the number of Americans in poverty actually fell, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, Table 2. Poverty Status of People by Family Relationship, Race, and Hispanic Origin: 1959 to 2011.
In addition, during Obama’s first three years, more than 11 million more Americans went on Food Stamps. That’s more than four times as many as were added during the three years following the Bush tax cuts, according to the USDA Food and Nutrition Service, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Participation and Costs (Data as of August 30, 2012).
When Obama was inaugurated in 2009, he inherited a record budget deficit, due to a substantial drop in revenue from the recession, combined with Bush’s massive TARP spending (which Obama voted for in the Senate). Nevertheless in the four years since then, Obama has managed to decrease this whopping deficit by just 6 percent. In contrast, by increasing revenues, the Bush tax cuts over four years slashed the deficit by 60 percent.
Despite this surge of revenue created by the Bush tax cuts, Bush has been (properly) criticized for failing to control spending, thus increasing the national debt. In the four years after the Bush tax cuts went into effect, Bush (and the GOP Congress) increased the debt by $1.6 trillion. Yet Obama has managed to top him, increasing the debt over a similar period by $4.5 trillion – nearly three times as much as Bush.
By any metric, the Bush tax cuts were more successful than Obama’s policies have been. If anyone is pursuing “failed policies of the past,” it is Mr. Obama, stuck in the Great Society mindset, hurtling pell-mell toward the tax cliff of January 1, 2013.

MORE ILLEGAL DOUBLE VOTES FOUND IN OHIO, NEW YORK, AND RHODE ISLAND
A follow-up to a story from last week: the election watchdogs at True the Vote have discovered more “snowbird votes,” in which people who own vacation homes in Florida use absentee ballots to illegal vote twice – casting one ballot in the Sunshine State, and the other in their home state.
There’s nothing particularly complicated about the process used by True the Vote to catch these potential felons (double voting is a felony offense.) They’re just comparing the voter registration lists between states to find people registered to vote in both, then looking for those who really did cast ballots from both states in prior elections. Given the simplicity of this technique, one has to wonder why citizen watchdog groups have to pitch in as amateur sleuths to crack down on absentee ballot abuse.
True the Vote reported on Tuesday that they found 34 new double voters in Ohio, 32 in New York, and two in Rhode Island since their last update. The New York double votes were discovered using a sample of less than one percent of upstate voters. Ohio is a particular area of concern, because it’s a crucial swing state, and it’s pushing the use of absentee ballots with exceptional vigor… having mailed an application form to every registered voter in the state.
“Our initial belief that we had uncovered only the tip of the iceberg continues to be reinforced,” said True the Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht.“Pew Research’s finding that 2.75 million Americans are registered to vote in more than one state continues to ring true. Unfortunately, we keep seeing more people possibly voting illegally.”
“It’s important for voters to remember that no candidate or cause is worth a felony conviction,” she added.“While some will no doubt commit the same fraud this year, we can find them in a matter of months. True The Vote calls on Florida, New York, Rhode Island, Ohio and federal officials to investigate and confirm our latest research.”
Engelbrecht pronounced herself satisfied with the steps Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted has been taking to clean up his voter rolls, but worried that the combination of “poor voter roll maintenance, emerging evidence of interstate fraud and Ohio’s new policy of absentee voting for all could create a perfect storm. The last thing we want is a repeat of the 2000 Election – this time by mail.”
But remember, according to the Left, voter fraud is so rare that we might as well just sit back and let it happen. Also, putting potential fraudsters on notice that they will be caught and punished, as Engelbrecht and her group have done, is probably just a racist conspiracy to suppress the minority vote. Even if relatively few minority voters own vacation homes in Florida, they’re bound to be intimidated by the chilling message sent by this – and every other – effort to protect the integrity of our ballots.
