If you could please think back on what actually happend ... you left a boxer and a french bull dog out in the heat for too long. You were supposed to only let them out to potty and then give them their individual time INSIDE. Thats what you were instructed to do and you couldnt follow the directions. Certain breeds cannot spend all that time outside weather its shady or not. It was a huge liability to have an irresponsible person on our staff. Hopefully this other kennel is a better fit for you. Good Luck.

I have been bringing my dog to Wagsworth for over a year and he could not be happier. In the mornings he runs to greet all the caregivers with his tail wagging and they make us feel very welcome. In the beginning, I would periodically call in the middle of the day to check on him and even stopped by and asked to see him at play. On every occasion I was treated very well and told they wanted me to check on him if it gave me peace of mind. I can't speak highly enough about his caretakers. My dog is a big guy and I'm sure he can be a handful!

Wow! As a real attorney, a real legal consultant would not even write on these message boards! It could affect any case you may be working on. You would be fired at my firm!

I KNOW better than that! This is a LIE! The owners of Wagsworth manor are FOOLS if they don't think they are responsible for the costs incurred with a boarding animal that broke it's leg while under their care. They may not be negligent, but they a LIABLE. Just as if you had slipped on an icy sidewalk on your way out of the building and broke your hip, they are RESPONSIBLE to provide a safe environment. That is what insurance is for. They should get sued for the cost of the surgical repairs and due to their beligerence and DENIAL of any responsibility they should be sued for pain and suffering as well. SHAME ON YOU for not taking responsibility! What is wrong with people? How can you live with yourselves?

Kudos, Melissa! Very astute! Well said!

Finally an opinion based on research not the result of a problematic stay. Your observations cannot be pushed aside and dismissed by argumentative childlike rantings and name calling.

I would love to print your 'review' and post it at my practice for my patients.{For those who may not be quite as internet savy}

The number of animals that have been treated at my practice after a stay at Wagsworth versus other kennels in the area is truly astounding! As a matter of fact, there is no comparison.

In this, they truely excel. I hear the same complaints regarding treatment towards the owners.

Thank you, Melissa, for speaking up. Your puppy will definately be lucky to have found you

My Ridgeback pup has recently stayed at Wagsworth, for 14 days while we were away. He is a hand full. When I picked him up he was great. He had not had a bath, and smelled like when I dropped him off, like a puppy. He had also stayed at another similar kennel, for only two nights, and I was not able to drive home without the windows open! When I washed him the dirt that came off was unbelievable. If you tour the other local facilities, let your nose be the judge on where you would want to stay.
I also have been attending puppy schools and some private lessons at Wags, and have nothing but praise for the trainers, their results and methods have been great.
I have no association with any kennel, nor am I in any way in a related business. I feel that people who bash a business on these forums should be held liable for their remarks if they prove to be unfounded, and should always include personal contact info if they have nothing to hide. Mine is g9156@aol.com.

Our dog Stayed at wagsworth the 3rd week of march 2010. We had a very positive experience. The dog came home happy healthy and tired.

We also utilized their grooming services, and while not cheap, our dog received the most thorough grooming we have found. Well worth the price.

I would reccomend wagsworth. It is also worth noting that when selecting a place to board your dog, ask extensive questions and be honest about the behavior and temperment of your dog. That will help ensure the client, caregiver and dog are pleased with the experience.

This place is a ripoff. I thought that my dog would enjoy her stay in the silo, but instead she ended up in the emergency room. The TLC package is clearly a joke, as she was in terrible condition when I picked her up. Wagsworth not only denied any responsibility for her physical ailments, including a weight loss of 10%, but also failed to mention any issues to me on the multiple occasions that I called to check on her. Needless to say, I will never be bringing my dog, around whom my world revolves, back to Wagsworth.
Will never go there again

Binky,

Thank you for your honesty. Be forewarned-- DeeDee will eventually respond. She will belittle your experience and make it seem as it were all your fault.

Our only fault was trusting her facility and phony values.

Someone thinks that these claims are bigus without an email to reply to.

I have offered my email (jm5mc5@hotmail.com) if anybody doubted my issues with wagsworth and their care. I have offered to forward pictures, vet letters, bills and movie clips of how my two digs couldn't walk after injuries sustained at wagworth in 48 hours. And, no, they were not signed up for group play. Individual only and a silo suite.

My dogs were burned with a corrosive chemical. The wounds were left untreated, got infected and my vet was never contacted because they didn't think that an animal who can't walk is reason to be concerned.

Again, I offer my experiences to anyone considering trusting their beloved pet to these careless people. They only thing I AM grateful to them is that they pushed me to look harder for a pet sitter ---and I found the real deal! A true gem!

So, if you would like to speak to me directly regarding experiences, concerns or need a referral, don't hesitate.

I've boarded my kitten twice with Wagsworth. Once when she was 4 months old for 5 days and recently at 9 months old for 8 days.
I have been very pleased with the care that Chloe has received while staying at Wagsworth. They've given her a duplex at no charge, she was clean and happy. The first time I had her there, we came back a day early with no problem.
I've called regularly to make sure she's OK and they put the cat caregiver on the phone so I could talk to her directly.
The only criticism I have is that as of this last trip, I received a voice mail on my home phone the day before we were to pick her back up. Of course, that makes no sense given the fact that we were boarding her because we were away. Even more importantly was the content of the voice mail. Apparently Wagsworth has added a cat groomer. This groomer called and left a message that my cat was looking "scraggly" and they were having a grooming special. This was concerning expecially considering I had the Cats Meow service added, where she would be brushed and played with every day (I even brought her pink brush and toys).
I sent an email to Wagsworth expressing how offended I was that this person referred to my cat as "scraggly" (she's not, she gets brushed every day), but also indicating that if she was scraggly, it was because they weren't doing what I had asked.
The very next day I received a voice mail from Wagsworth apologizing for the content of the voice mail and explaining that the groomer was new and trying to drum up some business.
While I will be bringing Chloe back to Wagsworth as I feel she receives good care, I would never contract with their grooming services just based on their attitude.

I toured this daycare and found all the staff extremely friendly and the grounds are beautiful. I however decided not to use this facility ONLY beacuse they have no people staying with the dogs all night! I cannot leave my dog where no adults will be from say midnight until 6 am, I would worry all night.

I was recently referred to this facility and planning on taking a tour. Now that I have read all of these comments, I too was just as concerned with how the facility handled the negative comments. I have been in business for years, dealing with very agrresive clientele, never would I get into a war of words on an internet site like this. Just no way to tell what the facts are from reading all the comments, but given the response and the amount of issues raised I think we will pass. Also they do not have 24 hour supervision, I think that is negligent when caring for so many animals on site.

I have taken my dog to Wags at least 15 times. I do have to say that I had an issue with Wags and DeeDee herself. My dog got a cut above his left eye. I was never called and informed of the injury. I noticed it on my way home from picking it up. I was told by a manager that they should have called me and she apologized. She said the boy who took care of my dog went home for Christmas break to Chicago and she would speak to him when he returned and get back to me. He didnt have a cell phone? Whatever. I never heard back, so I called again. She said he still wasnt back. I called again and she proceeded to tell me that the boy was not returning to work at Wags. I demanded to speak to the owner. DeeDee called me and said that my dog was in individual play and cut his eye on the fence and they applied ointment. I told her that I wanted to speak to his caregiver. She proceeded to tell me that this young man that was my dog's caregiver worked at Wags for 1 day only, then went home to Chicago and decided he was not going to return to Wags. This was very SHADY to me. DeeDee was very rude to me and very condescending. She does not have the compassion for dogs that she should have if she chose this career. She should not have contact with clientele because her customer service skills SUCK!

Well, I am glad I researched this posh facility before we decided to board our pups there. Just the fact that the owner is combating her customers in the open forum turned me off. This is not professional at the least.

Complain Complain Complain - that's all some of you people do. You're the type of people who will never be happy unless you create drama. It's also pretty clear that competitors are posting negatively on this forum to downplay what a decent place Wagsworth is. My in-laws have taken their dogs countless times to Wagsworth for boarding without a hitch.

I don't know what side of the planet some of these nay-sayers come from, but they might profit from a referral to a professional who might be able to help them.

Now I reason the best evaluator of a place like Wagsworth is not the human who brings the dogs, but, rather, the dog that stays. I have a scotty. they say scotties will not be ignored. How true. But because of this characteristic scotties tend to be easy to read. When I bring my dog into Wagsworth, she bolts for the care/play rooms. She doesn't even say good-bye!!

Taking a wild guess here, I'd say she votes,
"YES."

I received a phone call while I was just on vacation during Aug 2012. My dog was attacked by another dog (unprovoked) during group play. That dog bit through my dog's ear. The other dog's owner paid the vet bills, but my vacation was ruined because I was worried about my dog. My dog was also there the week before and they "forgot" to give him his meds. This was the 3rd and final incident with Wagsworth. For those of you who say I am "complaining", you are right, I am! I love my dog with all of my heart and I feel it's completely fair to share my negative experiences with Wagsworth with other people so they dont have to go through the same thing! This place charges an arm and a leg for dogs to stay there and my dog has been hurt twice in their care and then they forgot his meds! Unbelievable! When he was attacked this last time, they showed no compassion and then didnt even give us a discount on his stay for being attacked when he was there. I even sent an email to them asking why and never received a response! I own a business and I would never treat my customers this way! My dog will never return there. We have found another resort that has 24/7 care (Wagsworth does not have that) and the staff are all adults and caring people and the place is just as beautiful as Wagsworth.

Just boarded our dog at Wagsworth for a week. It was a great experience for him and for us. He was well excercised, happy in group play and tired and clean when we picked him up. This is the 4th place we have tried in the last year and a half since we got our puppy. We were invited for a full tour(unlike Family Pet Resort) and found everything clean and fresh including the fields. I was able to observe our dog in group play which was very important to us. The opportunity to play in a well supervised clean field gave Wagsworth the edge for us.
I didn't find this site helpful. I too would be upset if my dog had broken his leg but this is certainly not the place to solve an issue like that!!

She is awful. I used to work there. She will not even look at a dog unless the owner is there. She doesn't care for animals. She cares for money. It may sound bitter but it's the truth. Stay away from this place. The money you spend is not worth it. They have 14 year olds taking care of your pets and making up the report cards as they go.
