Mr. Wayne Walbridge stated tonight at the School Board Meeting that "kids get hit everyday." His reply to a mom concerned with safety of her child walking to school and getting hit by a vehicle at 6 years old.

"the reality of it is kids get hit everyday" was his quote , let me translate that for you " I don"t give a flying fuck about your kids". So where does all the money they get go ???/ We pay for lunches, or the state pays for those who can't afford it, we buy an excessive amount of school supply's, and they obviously cut everything.. So where is the money ??? I smell AUDIT

As like snow days he won't cancel school if the roads had an inch of ice on then; just so he can utilize those days arund his spring vacation.

Yeah. Get people on the School Board who think the Buck stops at the top, not the bottom.

Has the system improved or degraded on his watch? He has always said scores matter. Are they better or worse?(Much worse!)

He will retire before you can fire him. He chose his successor.(Oh Oh...)

What attributes do you want in Board members? Think about it. I think the current Board sucks. We need to figure out how to elect a good one. Start with what skills they need.

There is a significant number of taxpayers in this town who are sick and tired of raising your kids.....you had them....you look after them! Maybe you avoided getting an education, you should not deny your children!

His successor is not him, not at all. That being said, I do look forward to him fixing this mess of MCSD.

Let some of the crowd come forward that heard him. It was not taken out of context. I hope the Telegram posts it tomorrow. Let the community hear what he said.

One Question, who payed for your bus rides and schooling "TAXPAYERS" both with children and without, it is more then pathetic that you would shun your responsibility to this community. It is all of our responsibility to assure a safe and healthy environment for all children. Sadly pathetic self centered opinions like yours is what got us here in the first place, To use a quote, I would rather live in a "were all in this together society" then an "every man for himself society, how about this.....shouldn't we invest in our future....by investing in our children. Luckily opinions like yours "narrow minded and selfish" don't represent the whole. That's all for now :)

I had two children through the system and they only caught the bus to kindergarden. From grade one to twelve they either walked, were driven or drove. I also fed them breakfast and prepared their lunch.
And if you want them to thrive, take away their sodas and get them walking and exercising.
Next you will be wanting the school board to start doing their washing and checking they have bathed and cleaned their teeth.
Everything I have read above is about you and the inconvenience to you, it has nothing to do with the children.

Whenever it snows and he doesn't close school, people trot out the "vacation" rumor. I noticed last year that when school was closed, people comp-lained about kids being home, finding a babysitter, and saying it wasn't too bad out. So people complain when he closes school, and when he doesn't.

I sincerely doubt he is using snow days as a way to extend his vacation.

We spoil our children, we make them dependent, we allow them to get overweight, make they lazy, and irresponsible, protect them from everything, many times imaginary dangers, and when these views are challenged, we attack the person who is trying to make changes, for many reasons and some for the good of all,, Walbridge is just a scape goat for the parents who are so insure about themselves that they go over board to protect their children,,, let the children grow up, learn that there are things they have to do that they may not like to, quit trying to make life so easy for them now that when they actually get into life they can't handle it. Life is not being coddled and protected, its fighting and scratching to survive and doing well, it called maturity and self-reliance , the earlier that lesson is learned the better.

This is so crazy it is beyond. When I went to school 40 years ago we walked. There were people around every corner that my parents- being good parents warned me about. We walked to school in the bitter cold and guess what? we were not fat, almost never sick and we learned a thing or two about bonding with friends from school who we might walk with to school and become friends with. Mr Wallbridge grew up poor. He will let anyone know that. He of all people works for the good of ALL kids rich or poor. We are lucky to live in such a small comunity were busing is available. I worked every day and had to find a way to get my kids to school or a babysitter to watch them untill they got on the bus. Guess what! that is called being a parent! So take all your hot air and negative energy and find a way other than bashing the school board.

I also believe his comment was misunderstood. And quite frankly, looking around the crowd last night and listening to a number of parents speak - not all of them - really shows the amount of ignorant parents out there! And if you are all so concerned about your child's safety - why the hell don't you start spending your time, money and energy and find a way to get your child to and from school yourself. Oh no - you just want the school district to do everything for you. I pay my taxes, blah, blah, blah. So what - we all pay taxes. And yes - I had 3 children go through the school system and yes, both my husband and I worked outside the home. Yet, we seemed to manage to transport our children to and from school every day without using the bus. And all you parents who keep saying that their child isn't capable and doesn't know how to cross the street, not run after a toy in the street, etc.- try doing your job as a parent and teach them these basic life skills.

Sounds like you better dust off your pen and sign up to be on the school board. There will more than likely be a couple positions up for re-election soon. But then again, why would you do that when you may want to get paid some big bucks and work per diem for them in the future!!
