I recently found out for a fact that Malone is giving special busing arrangements to teachers children. They will not bus children k-8th if they live within 1 mile of their catchment school or 1.5 mile for High school kids. But, they WILL bus a child within a mile to their parents school! I heard this as a rumor and was in denial. Then, I overheard a parent in my child's classroom who was a teacher explain how her child was getting bused to the Middle School (within a mile) to be with her till she was done working. How is this fair? This does not meet with the Superintendent's 3 walking criteria of rules and regulations for walkers. They are giving special treatment for teachers. When I requested that my child be bused. I was denied. When I called and spoke with the Business Administrator (I asked to speak with the Superintendent...But, transferred to the Business Administrator instead). He told me that since there was a shuttle bus going there anyway and that the child's parents live outside the catchment zone and no one would be home. Well, what about my
children? Some go to the Middle School over a mile away and can ride the bus and it stops here anyway. But, my 1st grader can't ride the bus because we are less than a mile away. But, the bus is coming here anyway!! And other children who live out of the catchment zone and go to daycare after school and the daycare is within a mile have to walk!! I have seen a denial letter for someone in this situation. But, a teacher's child getting special treatment on the tax payers dollar!!! I will be at the next board meeting on Sept. 11 at 7pm at the High School library to voice my opinion. This is all a FACT! I have called and confirmed from multiple sources. They have to be FAIR AND CONSISTENT and not discriminate! They are discriminating against our community children! If you are not a teachers child then you have to walk!!

The only way this statement will have any credibility is if you provide the name of the teacher. It certainly is believable, but who is it?

I believe it is a professio nal courtesy so teachers can stay in their classrooms longer to work and help struggling students. The alternative is for teachers to rush out as soon as they can to get their kids. Once they are out, will they come back to help kids? Isn't it worth it to get more work out of those teachers?

Get over it people LIFE IS NOT FAIR!!! OMG Some jobs come with perks, Some people get hired because they are a family friend to the boss, Some kids get picked for the team because of their lastname. GET OVER IT, put on your big boy/girl panties and find a way to get your kid to school since you feel walking is so unsafe. Be it doing it yourself, getting a grandparent, friend or family member. Create a group of you guys to patrol the areas and or walk the smaller kids to school. If you spent half the time that you do on here trying to find answers instead I am sure you can figure it out

Seriously.....wow...TD needs to get a grip! You're the parent...get your kids to school!!!!!!!! That's what the rest of us working parents do! Stop complaining, and creating more drama and come up with a plan...that's what the rest of us did! Your drama is getting completely over the top! Stop creating drama and come up with a plan for your children...like the rest of us!!!! Enough already!!!!

I WORK! Unlike most of MALONE! I WORK!! I have tried even calling the local Taxi and Local public transportation because I have NO OTHER OPTIONS...I guess I can pay for teachers children to get bused instead of going to Latch Key till 5pm like everyone else. I can't even send my child to Latch key because it is open till 5 and I work till 6. Yeah I know life isn't fair because if it were fair I would be sitting like the rest of the bums and not working and picking up my child!

You think you are the ONLY working parent out there with this issue? You have no friends? No family (aunt, uncle, cousin,in laws, nothing? No friends of family? who can help you out? No other parent of a child who is getting their child that you could ask or pay to pick up yours? or if yours could walk with them? No lder children in that area that you could play to walk with with your child?

Since you say most of Malone doesn't work there must be someone you know that can help you out and you can throw them a few pennies for their time..... win win situation!!

Hey maybe one of the sex predators that is a welfare bum can pick her up! But, paying them would be considered a "JOB" LOL! Awesome idea! I asked public transportation and they have too many creeps on the bus! lol Sorry I know workers. I don't really associate with bums. Honestly my relatives all work or live too far away. I'm going to make a sign and have my child hold it begging for a ride. Hope that is ok and I don't get Child Protective Services call! I'm going to teacher her how to hitchhike! PROBLEM SOLVED! "Get over it" you will probably offer my kid candy and off she will go with you! lol WHAT A JOKE! Does anyone care about a child's welfare?

Maybe I should have used get a clue for a name since you obviously need one. I am sure anyone who works the gradeyard shift such as Co's, Nurses, Doctors, and Police are bums just because they don't work during school hours. Oh wait I left out stay at home moms, people who have retired such as grandparents and anyone lucky enough that only one person in their household has to work. I feel sorry for you in the fact that you don't know a stay at home mom AKA bum. because she could probalby teach you how to solve such problems. BUT OH WAIT.. you are the smart one because you have a job that doesn't allow you to be there for your children, live in a village that you obviously hate and "over pay for taxes".

MAYBE you dont know anyone because you are close minded and think you are better than everyone else cos you have a "job and only know WORKERS".

As far as your child no worries he/she is safe because she/he will probably grow up to be as close minded are you are and no "perv" will want to put up with them.

It is all ok because I am quitting and going on welfare. I can now have the flexibility to walk my child to and from school.

"food for thought" I'm not downing the workers. I guess I could wake up the people I know sleeping during the day because they work the graveyard shift and ask them to transport my child. I know a lot of 1 income households. I just don't know anyone in Malone who can transport her. My frustration is with the fact that Latchkey is till 5pm. I work till 6pm. I sometimes feel as if we would all be better sucking off the system because doesn't it all just satisfy the welfare? I'm not talking about unemployed or stay at home moms or dads. I'm talking about the bums who suck off the system. We pay the taxes to satisfy the welfare.

Well saying you work "unlike MOST of Malone" isnt the way to solve the problems you have. Being on here ranting about it isnt going to change a thing. Go to the school meeting about this and instead of tearing it apart (because you know it isnt going to change) put yourself out there and be ready to meet other parents/people and organize transportation. Find out how other people who have jobs are able to get their kids home etc, organize groups to walk the little ones home. Find out who has older kids in your area who might be willing to walk with your. One of those out of town people maybe able to transport your child oncee or twice a week. one of the graveyard people might be getting done work around the time your little is walking to school and be able to drop them off. Instead of complaing about something that you arent going to be able to change get off here and find solutions. If all else fails claim your child goes to daycare at one of your out of town friends so she has to be transported and pick her up at 6 when you are done work. where there is a will there is a way.

ha ha ha Is that the cover story this year? Well it would be nice to see Malone School District go up a few positions in ranking since the district is now ranked 599 out of 704 school districts state-wide.

You said it. It's bad out there now. The teachers are no smarter than most of the student they're teaching. Just look at spelling and grammar and their lack of ability to do simple math in their heads. The mandates made by each state for schooling get worse every year. Why? The present day geniuses made it to where they are with a much simpler education system. Why can't we do that now? Part of school is learning to use your head. These days computers and calculators have taken place of that. How utterly sad for us.

After reading your posts, your last sentence should read, "Doesn't anyone care about MY child's welfare?" Clearly, you expect us to take care of your kid, so you can do whatever you want to. Clearly, you don't want to even go to the trouble to talk to others to set of transportation for your child, you want us to take care of that. Clearly, you did not realize that when you became a parent, you became responsible for your child, not us. Well, deary, you are, we're not. Case closed.

I don't think they expect YOU to take care of their children. As a matter of fact there is a special website that features people like you for families to be aware of.

I walked to school everyday when I was a child and I'm just fine! We lived well over a mile away. Your child cannot possibly be the only child on your street walking. Find another child, maybe a bit older and ask them to walk your child. Give them 10.00 a week or some type of reward for doing so. Get her a cell phone and teach her how to call 911. Track phones are cheap and can be set up so only the numbers you program can be called.

Life is what it is and bitching and complaining only makes you bitter and look stupid.

It's also teaches your child that when he/she doesn't get their way they should throw a fit an stomp their feet. That's exactly what your doing on here!

If my child had to walk and I was that concerned about it, I would find a way to get them to school. I wouldn't make excuse after excuse. I wouldn't blame it on the school. The school didn't make this child, you did!

I'm teaching my child to fight for what is right and wrong and not lay down and take it. When my child is getting bullied should she just shut up and take it? When she feels discriminated against...which the kids in our community are because teachers kids are being bused....she should just shut up and take it? Is that what your saying? If something is going wrong....just shut up and take it. That is a coward! I won't be teaching my child to lay down and take it! If I feel that there are issues of unfairness then I fight for what I believe in. If I lose, then I lose, so be it. At least I tried and spoke up! I have spoken to Pupil Transportation in Syracuse who overseas busing rules and regulations. In her words it is unfair and not consistent to allow teachers children to be transported! You can not discriminate against one for another. They can't make choices like this. They can do all or nothing. Bus all kids or bus none within their guidelines. You can't make special provisions for Teacher's kids just because.

What are you fighting for? Teachers' kids are getting bussed from one school to another. Do you want your kids bussed to a certain school? If so, then it would be fair to allow that. Do you want your kids to be bussed home? That is a different issue than what the teachers are getting.

I'll repeat what I said before: This might be a courtesy to keep teachers working longer. If you "win" and make teachers' kids walk, then many teachers will choose to leave as soon as possible to get their kids. Perhaps a little "unfairness" will enable more students to be helped and the taxpayers to get more value out of their teachers.
