The announcement to proceed toward closure was made and announced, reported in newspapers and by NPR, several months ago. The decision was finally made when it became apparant, there wa no way to reverse damage already done, dig out of hole dug. When I took over as Board President (all volunteer positions) I promised we would purge the poison from the system, restart with a clean, accountable, financially sound, paired down operation.. and if not possible, we would shut it down We tried, I tried, I failed to turn it around, we moved toward a closure date anounced several months, with intent to transition all programs to other agencies and stop the financial bleeding. This has been done. All programming except the Micro-loan program closed much earlier, have new administrators and the original intent of these programs continue, with others operating them. Our buildingremains ope till end of month for holiday helpers to use for toy distribution. 90% of "equipment" as another poster mentioned has been removed for use by new agencies, or has been recovered by the state agencies who provided original funding. The building is mortgaged and will be sold to pay mortgage or returned to mortgage holder. All vehicles of value have been turned over to state funders or transferred to new agencies. 2 vehicles will go to lien holders. 2 older vehicles were sold to pay for ongoing closing operations salaries, etc, as grants were discontinued. Comliks owns no land, all went to assigned new agencies as the state decided. Some equipment for weathrization was purchased with unrestricted funds or given no value by the state and will be liquidated in a legal process out of Comlinks hands. The proceeds, and any assets found in any way whatsever will be equally distributed to venders left unpaid to date, in a legal dissolution process through a third party legal entity.
I'm sorry. A group of us volunteered to take on a monumental "fix it" job, and could not, after great efforts, repair the problem. The potential of a properly functioning, accountable Community Action Agency still held great value for the community. I am thankul at least portions will continue with other's efforts. I will continue my best to find ways to help our North Country Community in continuing and new ways in the future as will many of our board members. The North Country is worth the effort. This will be my only post here, however I am available to speak to anyone concerned in person, Phone or email.

Official statement: The Comlinks Building will be closed to the public as announced. Final closure processes securing of files, official dissolution, and all processes, including legal closing procedures, and debt considerations continue with both volunteer and legal assistance.

I wish the media would interview the good old Board of Directors and get an explanation from them?

This doesn't make any sense. Since Joe took over the agency has been extremely transparent with "the media" publishing information that was provided. An "interview" of the good old Board of Directors wouldn't provide any more information or explanations than what Joe has graciously provided.

What would you want to accomplish with your suggested interview? Help me understand.

Pretty Polly you are right Joe Provided the information but Mr Nebbercracker just likes to jump topic to topic and cause problems .Guess he has nothing better to do .Never has anything to say that is positive .People like that everyone needs to ignore .sounds like this person needs a job instead of being full of negative comments .

you have totally misunderstood my comment.....I mean the Old Board....the people who allowed and encouraged and covered up the outright misuse of the agencies funds. They were notified by the state years ago and continued to allow it to happen. Joe came in and has battled his way through one hell of a mess. From what I understand he even used his own finances to ensure payroll was met. Like he said it was just too late but still he worked to try to make everything right and moral. The old Board members, the ones who have moved and importantly the one who still live in this town, have never had to answer to the community. They go about their merry lives and seem to have no regret for what they did to what was once a thriving agency. These services are provided to the sick, the needy, the elderly, the hungry, the homeless......and now it is all gone. Causing problems??? Being negative???

OK, thanks for the clarification. I would suggest it's never going to happen and if you think so, then I have an Xdrunk I would like to sell you.

BTW - the last sentence is meant to be a joke.

And referring to earlier posts by Polly, etc., Big Tim was on the Board right to the bitter end - today. Joe Selenski is certainly transparent and working for the benefit of our community. But others held it up as long as they possibly could, then handed it off to Joe.
If you think Big Tim was working for the community, I'll donate X Drunk to the charity of your choice. I suggest Barnabus House, the homeless shelter Joe so ably runs. Tim is busy running the County - doesn't THAT make you feel confident in our future!
A lot of negative comments regarding Tim and his role in Comlinks but -- How did he get to be a county legislator? who voted for him and why?? Did he fool everybody into thinking he was a great guy? I would love to hear why everyone elected someone who is a "good old boy"???
