anybody else getting that irritating flashing orange box at the bottom of the screen with that message? this started appearing for me a couple of days ago and won't go away. it only happens on topix boards.

i've done a little research on it and it appears to be a marketing tracking program (not malicious) but there doesn't appear to be any way to get rid of it.

i'd say just ignore the damn thing, don't click on anything in it. if you "x" it out, it just comes back with your next click.

it's a real pain in the Yupbama.

there's no problem as long as people are not stupid enough to click on "open" or "save".

it's not a virus or a trojan, from the little research i did this morning it's just a marketing tool for God knows who.

the exact message i am getting in the box is:

"Do you want to open or save load.js from loadus.exelator.com ?"

i run MS security and zonealarm extreme security (pay) and nothing raised any warnings. topix or other apps have not slowed down.

it's just very annoying and won't go away, much like your incessant references to "teabaggers".

And I DID have trouble getting into Topix earlier... and sometimes Topix does slow down. I assumed it was because of site traffic. There seems to be a concerted teabagger effort today to bash school budget votes all over New York State. These people don't have a whole lot to do, apparently. Too bad they don't make an effort like that to do anything constructive.

just an update- the "box" disappeared last night and did not show up this morning. i guess topix got enough complaints about it so they removed it.

This box has been appearing whenever I open a browser for the last 10 days or so. I decided to see what Norton thought of it, so I clicked "Save" and it was immediately blocked. So maybe it's not as harmless as some say. At any rate, I wish the thing would go away.

I had this problem and did a System Restore from a date a couple of weeks before the problem started and it seems to have helped solve it.
