Just wondering if there is any truth to the rumor that the Monette's are in the process of buying High Falls Park?

Is there a bar at High Falls? If not then they will not be buying. They all have alcohol problems.

Boy, do they ever. Just like most of the Monette clan from what I've seen over the years.
One of these days one of them is going to kill someone and their businesses will be over after a court suit settles it. Big timers fall big time when they fall.
So sad. Too many people around here like that.

The thing of it is, when they do go, they will be taking a whole lot of people with them. All that seed money over the years, for this and that, that has been swallowed up by the Monettes and not used as intended, i.e. invested in ways likely to DIVERSIFY the economy, not just to make the 'rich' richer...

Sooner or later voters around here are going to wake up and start electing people to office who know what they're doing, and that won't mean making themselves rich and everything else worse.

They have already closed on the deal. Apparently there is an interest from the gas companies in hydrofracking and there is a great deal of natural gas in the shale in the Chateaugay area. Too bad for all the campers that will have to move.

If the people of Chateaugay, and the State of New York, ever allow hydrofracking in High Falls Park I will be very, very surprised. This is NOT Malone we're talking about.

I couldn't imagine hydrofracking that close to the border, either. There is population on the other side, and there is no way that they will stand idly by while some moron in the US creates the condition that makes their drinking water combustible.

I was approached last week by a representative from Nebors Company about natural gas on our farm. We already have turbines and think this maybe the answer to our countries energy needs. Chateaugay can use the jobs and I am willing to let them drill on my land-if the price is right!

I guess this answers the question why a natural gas pipeline is going in.

So, you'd sell your clean water, and you'd be willing to sell out your neighbors' water, too? That's exactly what happened in West Virginia, and why it's nearly impossible to sell property in some places now. You hear that? NO value. Check it out. Wind turbines are one thing, this is something else entirely.

NY is not WV. We have standards here, even in the north country. Unless you have a permit in hand, and a whole lot of liability insurance, don't count those toxic dollars just yet, anyway.

And, incidentally: do you really believe that natural gas mined here is all sold here? Don't even. These pipelines ultimately carry the stuff to port, and you can bet your bippy that they aren't headed to Hawaii with it. What's best for THIS country is to NOT destroy our ground water and other resources for short term gain for already rich corporations. Patriotism doesn't even come into it, unless you consider that raping the land for profit is about as UNPATRIOTIC as it gets.

By the way... Poughquag, NY is in DUTCHESS COUNTY... 50 miles out of NYC, in the middle of MAJOR controversy over this stuff downstate. Most people with brains do not allow this garbage. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if that post were made by some scumbag corporate scout or salesman desperate to find enough hayseeds who don't know squat to meet a quota or something. I'm copying this thread off and sending it to the governor's office.

You have to be kidding...'nabors'. What a DOUCHE.

Did anyone else notice all the ads for camps for sale at high falls in the trader? Something is going on and I do not like the smell of it.

There is going to be different management...not a different owner. Times are tough and people are feeling the crunch. In times like this people try to get out from uner things. If you are financially stable maybe it might be a good investment to buy a camp.
