Sorry but there are many what ifs in this horrible incident, but blaming parents is not the way to go. My daughter grew up with both girls with as much sorrow as is there isn't room for blame.

This girl, used poor judgement when operating the car, she killed and maimed other people. Is there a lesson for others here,,, I hope so, if another young person sees what happened here, and it prevents them from an action that hurts or kill others that will be a positive out come of this horrible tragedy. Sadly when things like this happen they are soon forgotten by persons not personally involved. WHEN people do stupid and irresponsible things horrible consequences can result,, PLEASE think about what you do regardless of your age

Well why didn't the collette girl get time? I'm sure she wasn't high? Encouraging friends to do irresponsible things. From what what I hear I never would have let my kids around her. Problems with drugs, trouble in and out of school. It all goes back to parenting. Its too bad all 3 girls had to learn the hard way but adding fines and jail? Wow!! Great society we live in, kick them when their down.

Pho are you for real?!!?!? The Menke girl CHOSE to get behind the wheel KNOWING she wasn't licensed, was under the influence and the conditions were horrible. WHY would the Collette girl get time, for getting in the vehicle when she shouldn't have - a price she's paying now and will continue to. The ONLY BAD parents in this whole mess, as Judge Main eluded to are the Menkes for giving this girl access to a vehicle before she was licensed. Then the Menke mother has done nothing but run her mouth about her poor, poor baby. If these girls were 4, 5 or 6 yep I'd look at the parents but this girl was old enough to know better, just spoiled and catered to enough to not care cause mommy and daddy will ALWAYS fix it. In my opinion she didn't get ENOUGH jail time, and her parents should be charged also. They would've if the weapon had been a gun.....

well I agree Tanya should have gotten something out of this but I also think the collette girl should also be charged for having and using drugs .if any one elses child gets caught with drugs they are pulled into court what makes her so special ?Because she was hurt in the accident?this was a horrible accident and something Tanya will live with the rest of her life so that's punishment right there .Wake up people stop pointig fingers at who is to blame they all decided to get in that car that day i'm sure Tanya didn't drag these other girls to get in they chose to go knowing they were all n the wrong for doing what they did.and as for collettes mother saying her daughter can't even walk well she does a good job walking around walmart with no help .yes she was hurt and has to wear a helmet and went through alot after the accident but be thankful she survived .like I said this was a tragic accident that should not have happened but it did and 1 person is not the blame for it all .they all were .people need to be praying for the families instead of pointing fingers .pointing fingers doesn't help anything it's done and there is no way to turn it around and i'm sure if it could be Tanya would .but she can't so people put it to rest and stop accusing it could be your kids in this same situation .sometimes people make the wrong decisions .no one is perfect i'm sure everyone out there incluing myself has done something in the past they should not have only what they have done did not end like this .

He is still selling dope,, needs the money to support his habit. Life is so terrible for these poor spoiled kids that they just don;t care about anything but themselves and their good times... Symptomatic of the society we have created.

Are you crazy? First of all possession of marijuana is a ticket! Second, when you choose to drive a car you become morally and legally responsible for the occupants regardless of what they are doing! Third, why did her parents give her a car before a license? I personally feel she didnt mean for this to happen and if she could she would take it back. However instead of just saying sorry her family has started campaigns to blame others and make excuses...its ridiculous. I dont think she will ever make probation being taught by her parents that she can do whatever she wants...i feel bad for her too. Her parents should be guiding her in the right direction but are too ignorant to do so. She should not have been happy and laughing going out of court...if i was responsible for taking my friends life, i would gladly take what the judge gave me, with sadness and regret!

Time for what?????? and as far as parenting....Tanya had to be brought to Brushton Moira because Momma could do nothing with her while trying to homeschool. Peer pressure isnt illegal but poor a$$ parenting and driving a car without a license while hopped up on marijuana, speeding at 55 and crashing into a tree, killing the passenger is a felony!

Ok so I am gonna state A FACT I feel justice was served in that court room for the tragic accident that happened on december 7th 2011 WHEN ALL THREE CHILDREN willing got in that car, Tanya did not hold a gun to those girls heads, Tanya did not make them do drugs, Tanya did not plant the drugs on the other girls, They ALL WERE aware of what they did and were doing when they got in that car and Tanya sure as hell did not say I am gonna get into an ACCIDENT and severly hurt two of us and have a life of another taken, The people bashing Tanya need to remember these were teenagers kids they all make poor judgment choices they make mistakes and they learn from there mistakes just as we all did when we were younger. These Girls were like any other teenages, stubborn, knew it all, and were untouchable NORMAL TEENAGE KIDS and whom had all rode around together plenty of times NONE of the families had a problem with it but when a tragic accident happens every one pin points it to the Menke family, Why did they give there daughter a car, Well same reason why alot of us parents give our kids cars when they get there permit, to practice and not have to use our own cars THE MENKE FAMILY DID NO WRONG THERE AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED.

Tanya has had to deal with the dirty looks, being called a murder, a killer, and even had a student point his hand towards her making a gun shape pointing at her and saying pow.. really at school no less, What happened to no bullying in school, not to mention what are the parents teaching these kids for them to be so hateful.. it disgusts me what is wrong with you animals..how would you feel as a parent if your child was treated like that..would not feel so good on the other foot now would it, The Menke family has had to help there daughter cope with that tragic day every day, She too suffers from nightmares waking up yelling brooks name, and dealing with all you animals whom show so much hate for an ACCIDENT that happened NOT A CRIME..

.she was served with a life sentence having to face that every day of her life that was number ONE for her sentencing of the other 32 things that was served to her. No one has the right to say she shows no remorse for what had happened she feels inside she is HUMAN she goes on with life every day smiling on the out side how ever inside is torn apart unless you have been in her shoes NO ONE has the right to judge or say how she should feel, I personally know Tanya very well and she is one stronge girl and has to be for all the stones thrown at her, The Menke family has been through hell and is suffering just the same they to have had to cope with the accident, The loss of a family member/freind of the family, as well as another who suffered injuries and is currently still recovering, there loss of there house, the pain they go through with there daughter's mental suffering, The nasty comments of all the negitive people, The news paper, Right up to having to sit behind there daughter as she read her paper she had wrote and had to read in front of the judge, and about 100 people that sat in that court room and as well as the other two families SINCERLY CRYING saying how she was SORRY for all the pain she had caused and her mom and dad could not even console her, how would you people feel if that was your child any normal parent would be hurting inside, but see there again the paper makes her sound heart less and never did they put the whole story in the paper just the part they wanted to, while the other two families had there pages printed in the paper, I also felt it was important for the Collette's mom to speak on her daughters behalf but felt that only parts of that were true and I felt money was more of the plea, I remember back when the school had a benifit for alexis her mom stated she was thankful for all the money the community had donated that they raised enough to where she could be finacially stable to care for her family so that she did not have to work so she could take care of her daughter....so how can you ask for 18,000 for loss wages... and how she has to sit in a certain kind of chair, or she has trouble with reading and writing, how is she is regular classes and manages to stay on the honor role mmm and as stated in the paper she was sitting in court with her helmet that had been decorated with stickers [FALSE ADVERTISING] her helmet was sitting on the floor and she was sitting on a court bench at one point leaning forward when the judge had spoke about the sentencing for Tanya, alexis was leaned forward with her hand on her moms shoulder...she also manages to go around laughing and joking while shopping why is she carrying on with life so happy with the loss of her best freind.DOES THAT MEAN SHE DOES NOT CARE EITHER.. No it means they are all learning how to cope and deal with this in there own way the same as Tanya. And then there was the Lyon's whom spoke on behalf of there daughter which was also needed for the healing process and there wish was granted by Tanya serving a jail sentence. So why keep carrying this on ALL THREE FAMILIES WERE TREATED FAIR..Let the Menke family move on from this nightmare stop bashing them as Tanya will be serving her life sentence with the pain leave her alone, Let Alexis recover from her injuries and move on live life to the fullest as you were given a second chance, and for the Lyon's I hope you all can move on as I cant say how you feel loosing a child my heart goes out to you but lets let Brook rest in peace.

There are so many people not getting the whole story..all that is being told is what is read in the paper. Both of the other families had Orders of Protection on Tanya, the judge chose to void them since they were not needed yet Stacie says that Tanya harrassed Alexis in school and bullied her. Don't you think that if that was true than it would have been reported?? While she was reading this Alexis was in the gallery laughing. But wait, I thought if she laughed she got a horrible headache!? And both Curt and Stacie blatantly lied about Tanya not trying to apologize..please!! And how come the papers didn't mention the young Ms. Menke's statement...choosing to focus on the lies? Don't even start on Stacie asking for tens of thousands of dollars when she chose to leave a job with full medical benefits?? Was her leaving really a choice??
