I'm a young adult living in this town. Been here about two years, not leeching off the Gov. Not causing trouble, not dealing drugs, getting people pregnant or any of the things that apparently this town suffers from.(Found a hyperdermic needle on mainstreet btw real classy.) so what am I supposed to do? get drunk? I mean there are like two bars and a park.

You are off to a good start. Now take your young energy and apply it to making Malone a better place. There are many things that need to be done in Malone. Volunteer work, politics, community organizing. Malone was and can again be a great place to live and raise children. It will take young people with vision and energy to make it happen. Don't give up on living in Malone, she is a gem that just needs a little polishing to return to her former glory.

Attend school functions (like the wonderful but poorly attended jazz band/swinging sounds concert last night. Go to local sporting events, the Red Barn Players plays, the YMCA, various cabaret concerts at the two art stores. Take a course at NCCC or BOCES. Volunteer for Hospice, at the hospital, the History Museum. Get involved with Rotary or Kiwanis. Learn to ski or snowboard. Play golf at the Highland Greens simulator or the real thing in Malone of Highland Greens in the nice weather. If you want to travel, within an hour you have high quality college sports, lectures, concerts, and performances and Lake Placid. Within 2 hours you have Burlington and Montreal.

If you look, you can find just about anything you want, then you will have made contact with like-minded people and up you go.

One thing, do not let the posters on this forum tell you what Malone is. They are not interested in exerting the effort needed to accomplish anything. They'd rather blame their lot in life on someone else, instead of doing something to improve it. So to make themselves feel better, they'd rather bring everything down to their level-it's easier to complain than it is to act and take responsibility. this village is not what they claim it is, but neither is their life.

Like many small towns in the US, it is a village with some problems, but as limblips said, it can be a great place to live and raise kids. there is a carde of people who are working hard to elevate lie here. Find them (and they are not hiding) and you'll find plenty of things to do.

I think this is probably the first post on here that hasn't been fouled with negativity. Good on you "limblips" and "yes".

It's pretending to be a child again. Creepy!

I suppose it's a good thing that all those directionless kids have such towering models of virtue, because, hey, you never know what kind of trouble they could get into, otherwise.

I think this creepshow could be a teacher. You'd better be watching your kids.

If possible, when you are sober/clean could you explain the ramble you posted?

But,that person needs to understand that the powers must approve of what a person is doing. When it comes to what is going on in Malone.

Feel sorry all you want. Feign outrage all you want. It doesn't change the fact of the deception that's being perpetrated in this thread.

Or the creepiness it absolutely emanates.

If you want to talk about something, why on earth is it necessary to hide behind the guise of a child? The point being made immediately becomes secondary to the deception.

No, this is NOT a child. I believe it's a teacher, and a female.

And it's also very obvious that several of the posters here are the same person.

And I'm telling you... watch your kids.

What do you like to do? It might be a little difficult to find at first, but there are many social and recreational opportunities that can match what you like to do. It doesn't have to be tied to alcohol or drugs. It doesn't have to be limited to team sports. You are one of many in Malone and area searching for something positive to do.

I am assuming you work so why not drop a hint or just outright ask if anyone knows of opportunities that match what you like. Musically inclined? Lots of informal jams going on. Stop into Dick's Country Store and ask.

Love the outdoors? The list is endless and many others your age are out there.

Lots of volunteer organizations would love to have someone young with lots of energy join. Ask around to see what you can find. Or just ask your coworkers where you might be useful with your talents and skill set.

Good luck.

Oh yes, and another opinion from someone who lives in MONTANA.

If any of you people are really so nostalgic and positive and all, why did you leave? Why do you so strongly feel the need to convince someone to do what you, yourselves, could not?

Malone is a pit of political corruption and economic serfdom, that permeates every aspect of life here. Glossing that over practically guarantees NO change of any kind. Any kid with anything whatsoever on the ball LEAVES... and the dregs that are left stay and BREED. Until that cycle is broken there is no hope for any kind of positive future whatsoever.

Not one bit.

Once again you need to have your medications checked. Why you suspect that I live in Montana is beyond me.

Let me be clear - I do not live in nor have I ever been to Montana. I am not the person you suspect.

It amazes me that a positive thread can turn so negative in such a short time due to the paranoid rambling of one or two. It seems that they are willing to go down with the ship rather than lift a finger to bail to stay afloat. If everyone took the suggestions given to this young person (whether or not you agree as to the source, the suggestions are good and positive), there might be some hope for this community. Instead, they whine and complain that there is no one left of any quality here, so what is the point? Those who complain the most, and refuse to allow any positives on this site, are the root of the problem. They like the negativity, and rather than get off their lazy butts and take action to improve the situation, they make excuses here.

you can't do anything in Malone because you live in virginia-and don't lift a finger there. you say outside people need to get involved, but you refuse to. so really, why would you tear down someone from out of the area who's trying to do what you tell us needs to be done. looks to me like you want malone to be in the pits-maybe make you feel better.

Tuesday-I live in Malone. the locations tamp next to my name tells where my internet is routed, not where my pc is located.

straightjacketeer-do not listen to the naysayers. like bullies, they want to tear others down instead of lift themselves up. follow the suggestions of the positive people and you will find malone is a village and town with lots to do now and a lot of groups looking for help from energetic folks like you sound to be.

Same proplem in the school systom in Malone, board powers pulling strings, school keep going down hill,????
The Flanagan , what a joke. how much money tax payer has paid, for something that will not work in that location again.

You just need to go to Montana and confront Nancy. That is the only thing that is going to get you off this! It is much better to move forward than to stay in the past. The loss of Comlinks is a tragedy, but we have to move forward and do something positive. If you feel you cannot be effective, then organize some people with a goal in mind if you can muster a positive thought. Stop trying to bring everyone down just because you're too timid or too lazy to make a difference. I'm surprised at your attitude, after the posting you made about the flag in the prison camp. I guess it was just a bunch of words to you.
That's what I'm trying to tell you, thy do not play by the same rules you do.So you can not move on. Get THAT!!!!!!

No xdrunk--you cannot move on. We all have and we'd like to help Straightjacketeer move on with us. If you have nothing positive to add to this thread, please add nothing at all. There are many other threads where you can prove how unbalanced you are. Please go to them and leave this one for those of us who see and are working for the future.

You need to change your approach to life and Malone. You need to find something positive (in your life and in Malone) and support it with all you have in you. You are constantly knocking Malone and full of negative comments. You are not helping Malone and if you are a recovering alcoholic you are not helping yourself with negative comments that you can't let go of.

Regardless of the topic, you only see the negative. No doubt there is much wrong in Malone but it will not get better by trashing everything and everyone. Pick something positive and make that your goal. Stop beating up everyone and everything and try to be positive about something - anything - or just stop posting - your present approach helps neither yourself or Malone.
