Regardless of how socialized and trained a dog, we must remember, it is an animal. Animals exist with the survival of the fittest mentality. They snap sometimes, truly unfortunate for all that involved.
Thank you I agree he brings that dog for a walk everyday. and its a super nice dog never has done any harm. It snapped cus the other dog was being a pest.

I'm not trying to blame either parties here but the 10 year old child should not of been walking a dog of that size by himself to begin with. I feel bad for both families as one lost their pet and the other might lose theirs as well. The fact of the matter, doesn't matter the breed, is that the dog was tied up in it's own yard and was attacked while tied to a chain, it's not like it could run away. I've read all the posts on the malone telegrams site and the owner even states that the attacking dog kept attacking even after the dog was already dead. I do not blame these people one bit for wanting this other dog to be put down. Like I said, it does not matter the breed, it could of been any type of dog that attacked another. I know if my dog attacked and killed another dog while it was tied up at own residence I would surely put him down. Thank god this was not a small child or toddler. And all these people saying that the pitbull should not be put down should put themselves in the other family's shoes. If this had happened to them they would surely be demanding that the attacking dog was put down. Not too mention half of the people on that site don't know how to spell or use any punctuation...it looks really good for their arguments.

Oh my, will you ever regret saying that. Before you criticize other people's language skills, be sure to copy your post to a word processing program and spell/grammar check it.

many cities in america have banned pitbulls in city limits, and towns as well. its just plain ignorance to have a pitbull as a family pet, especially with young children in the family. their have been countless cases of pitbulls being in families often for a few years, and then one day, for no apparent reason, the pitbull snaps and decides to rip a childs face off. having a pitbull as a pet is as stupid as having a grizzly bear as a pet. if you live outside of a town or city, or own a junkyard, fine. otherwise, its plain ignorance to own one in a town or city. i see alot of scrawny 20 something year olds walking around town with their "pitbulls" on leashes. most of them couldnt even control their pitbulls if the pitbulls decide to get away and attack another animal or human being.(its basically a lame attempt to overcome ones feeling of an inadequete level of manhood).

Maybe you could explain what your point was in your response to me. Slow down, take a breath, get your thoughts together and type very slowly.

well the owner is quite vocal on facebook stating that he has handraised this dog since it was a puppy, bringing it to work with him everyday. So how do you explain a well raised and socialized dog simply attacking a small breed until it reached death, tied to a leash with no way to get away from the powerful jaws and strong shakes? The truth is this breed is overall aggressive and people just get them to show how cool they are! Get a job instead...I would respect that more!
I happen to have a job and have had my dogs for 10 years and 8 years. I am not or have i ever been on drugs so no not all pit bull owners are. I also wanna state that pitbulls were not bred to become fighting dogs ignorant people made them that way. About the powerful jaws what about rotties, german shepards, boxers? I agree alot of pitbull owners are irresponsible but all dogs should not be punished for the ones who were raised wrong

From what I read the "other" dog was tied up out back.. not near the sidewalk.. How is that being a pest? An adult could have handled the pit and gone on down the street.

Wow, someone actually had the audacity to say the little 20lb victim dog "made" the pit bull "snap" because it was being a pest. They admitted it themselves, that pit bulls have the very real propensity to SNAP.

The same argument could be made against those silly women who get raped, they have it coming when they wear a short skirt, right? Good argument there, Unknown, you just proved how ignorant pro-pitbull people are.

The little DEAD dog was tied up! Talk about shooting fish in a barrel, the poor thing couldn't even escape. Rather than bark back at it or run away, the pit bull did what it was bred to do, and it violently tore the little dog apart with its MOUTH. Imagine the surge of fury and rage it takes to kill another dog like that.

The parents of the kid walking the dog should be prosecuted. The dog probably outweighs the kid, is a well documented vicious breed, and they allowed the kid to parade it up and down the street aggravating a little dog who was responsibly TIED UP. The little dog barked, as all dogs are known to do, but whereas the little dog was marking his OWN territory, the crazy pit bull is the one who snapped and murdered.

Don't forget that, there is a saying "dont bite the hand that feeds you" and no matter how nice a pit bull may be to its pwn family, they have the real ability to snap, they are dangerous to everyone else and should be properly contained.

If a farmer let its bull or stallion run all over the place it would be the same problem, if a kid was walking a bull around on a leash, same thing! its putting people and other peoples animals at risk. When you own something dangerous, with a mind of its own, it needs to be locked up, for other peoples protection.

The family that owns the pit bull is a classic example of stupid ignorant trash owning an animal they are too stupid to understand, too irresponsible to manage. Just read facebook.

Just saying 03: you say that they were not bred to fight but that ignorant people made them that way.

You're right that the breed didn't *originate* as a fighting breed, but once people started using them FOR that, and began breeding the champion fighters to create more champion fighters, then yes the pit bulls we see today WERE bred for fighting and killing.

The thing that gets me is that pit bulls are ugly! Big joker mouths, ugly little pig eyes, just an overall ugly, mean, plain looking dog. I can understand why people want goldens, collies, labs, aussies etc because of their looks. It leads me to believe that the reason the dog breed has survived (and runs rampant) is because people want them for a reason, and it isn't their looks.

Any pit owners here: can you honestly say you don't feel proud of walking a fearsome dog? When I take my lab to the lake and he fetches toys as far as I can throw them, people love to pet him and watch, he's a fun, obedient dog. I am proud that he's mine. Girls with their chihuahuas in purses, are proud of their little babies.

Everyone is proud of their dog. What makes you proud about owning a pit bull? You want to defend that they are big Teddy bears and its all in how they are raised, but ask yourself, if you are completely honest,, isn't your pride wrapped up in the fact that people are AFRAID of your dog, that it IS dangerous, and that you feel powerful and cool with it by your side?

No one that has ever met my dogs have ever been scared of them. My dogs are also very obedient and smart. I also have children and they are best friends with all my animals which also include 3 cats which sleep with my big babies known as pitbulls. I agree that in this circumstance something should be done about the dog killing another one but there are rescue centers all over the world that would help the dog instead of killing it.My son was bitten by a pug were was all the fuss with that? there wasnt any because it wasnt a pit. How fair is that? I will always stand by what i say and its not all pits that are bad just like not all people are bad but there are many that are so should we all discriminate people because of there heritage or color?

In Malone Pit Bulls get a bad wrap because they are frequently seen being drug around by the "wannabe" gangsters who like to go around looking tough while they are selling their mommy's "percs". In these cases, the dog almost always have a higher IQ than it's owner.
