And here's the link to the laws pertaining to loud exhausts on motorcycles.

http://public.leginfo.state.ny.us/menugetf.cg...

Again, it's about time the village cops did their job. Prove their worth to us.

Article 9, section 381, paragraph 11 describes the laws about motorcycle mufflers.

Yeah, if I drive down Main Street with a loud muffler in my car I get a ticket, so why are these horrifyingly loud bikes allowed?

The good thing about it is that all of you will be deaf one day sitting on your porches whining like a bunch of girls and I will still be riding my bike loud as hell.

Until you go deaf. And that's going to happen sooner, rather than later. People you ride by do not get the prolonged exposure that you do, but I couldn't possibly expect you to figure that one out, huh?

The police can and do give noise citations on bikes.

And as far as the three and four wheeled adolescent (overage or otherwise) death machines, the law is that they can only be operated legally as long as they are not a nuisance. The police get a complaint, and it's a nuisance. Get a plate number if there is one, or a good description of the bike and driver if there isn't one.

Fat Jake's is the magnet for these untrainables. The Village Police know it, and ignore it. There is NO legal way for ATVs to get to that damned bar. When they gather there and sit in the parking lot, why on earth is the MVPD not ticketing the lot, and arresting the repeat offenders? And then, they break the law, AGAIN driving away, and now they're drunk driving besides. Oh, right! Fat Jake's can DO no wrong. Well, they can (and should) lose their damned liquor license for letting these imbeciles even park on the property. They are creating a public nuisance.

I think that the morons who operate these things in any way that disturbs the peace should get a warning once, and then the offending machinery should be seized. Operate those things on ACREAGE, you podunk redneck imbeciles! That you ride those things in the village means you have nothing, and you know even less. May you all be one short curve at excessive speeds from getting exactly what you deserve.

Bikes should be louder than cars, they say loud pipes save lives! I totally agree! It is much harder to notice a bike than a vehicle. I am assuming that the most of you don't ride. I'd much rather someone hear me coming than run me of the road because they didn't see or hear me!

That's the biggest excuse we always hear. Bull! When you're in a car it's not going to be as loud if you hear a biker coming with loud pipes. This is pure crap and nothing but an excuse for the loud pipes. If you're so afraid of getting hit by a car then get off the damn thing and sell it if it's so dangerous to ride. There's plenty of other bikes out there that aren't Harleys that don't have that racket. Frankly, they all sound exactly like the 2 cyclinder Briggs and Stratton bike that Orange County Choppers built a few years ago on TV. You couldn't tell the difference between the Briggs and a Harley. What about the "elegant" riders; the people that are considerate and real pros with their bikes? They don't need loud pipes to show how much testosterone they have and they don't have anymore accidents than Harley riders to. Your excuse in Bull Shit.
The cops in this town are losers that won't do their damn jobs. We should have voted this village down and gotten rid of the whole lot of them. THey do a lousy job and don't actually enforce any real laws. Places like Fat Jakes get away with murder because a Monette owns it and the guys daughter married a village police sergeant. DUH! I've been by that place and seen cars parked all over hell and back and not one is moved. The cops drive right by.
People shouldn't have to call the cops to do their jobs. They should be observant enough to do it themselves. That's why the majority of the village budget is attributed to them.
They should do their jobs or be shut down - just like any other business would be if it wasn't producing.
The laws are plain. It's against the law to have loud pipes on bike and loud radios in cars. As one poster put it, if he had a loud muffler on his car, he'd be pulled over in a minute and ticketed. Why aren't the loud bikes?

I would advise you move into the woods fa from people because honestly living in town has never been a quiet place. What's next a quiet tractor trailer? Give it up old man or move.

I'm not at all afraid of riding my bike, it's the people who don't pay attention as bikes are not as big as cars, many people don't see them. You seem to be quiet negative about everything! Anyways I'm not going to entertain your negative attitude BUT Loud pipes are fun and those with them should be a little respectful, other than that rock on and ride safely! Oh one more thing - say what- if I knew who you were I would ride by you and let hear the pipes with a big smile!

OK little boy. When are you going to put the baseball cards on the spokes? Does it make you feel manly? Do you feel enhanced in some way to piss people off? Do you have trouble getting it up and this is why you need loud pipes on your bike? You know - inferior? As far as I'm concerned anyone who has to have these on their bike is doing nothing but showing off because they feel inferior to others. When you go the mens room together I'll bet you're all trying to sneak a peak to see who's got the biggest one. Same thing bucko. It's nothing more than a childish way of drawing attention to yourself because this is the only tangible thing you have and you don't have any other means to make your mark in real life.
And by the way... I'm not and old timer - not that it matters you young whipper snapper.

I know why you all do it. So you can be individuals - just like everybody else.
Your excuses are lame and pointless. Loud pipes serve no purpose at all other than to disturb the peace in an area. I could do the same thing with my Lawn Boy Tractor if I wanted to. Does that make me cooler than the next guy? I have an uncle who lives in California and has ridden since the days of Indian bikes and Triumph machines. His bike is elegant and beautiful. He laughs all the time at the younger guys and old guys who have to validate themselves to human kind by making a racket with their bikes. He says the same thing - you can do it with a lawn mower and it sounds the same. I guess for some people it's the only true way they can measure their masculinity. How sad for them. The more there are, the phonier they become. All posers around here.
Ride all you want folks. Enjoy yourselves. But look around. It isn't that well accepted by the Pro riders. It's only done by the wanna be weekend hoods who in regular life are probably just as lame and pussy whipped to boot. Usually they're fat with cholesterol problems, need a shower and a shave (another signal that they're trying to be more "manly") and drink motor oil for breakfast when others are looking.
Pipes or not. A true pro rider will have consideration for others on the roads and in their homes so as to demonstrate a little class. Loud pipe prove nothing to anyone except you guys running them. Get over it gang. You have no argument. Simply put - it's crude, obnoxious, inconsiderate, selfish, loud, and unnecessary. Now why is it good again??
Above all, why should you get away with it but loud car exhausts can't?

Who is anyone kidding? They do it because they feel the need to COMPENSATE for, uh, other areas, in which they have been, um, SHORTCHANGED.

Every time.

Guaranteed!

So, the next time you hear one of these sad little boys sputtering by, have a good laugh.

I know I always do.

People complaining get a quiet bike for yourself and ride for a while and then replace the muffler, and you will see a big difference in close calls! I have! Idiots don't always check who is behind them or in a blind spot and just move on over as they please and have almost rammed my side if it wasn't for me actually paying attention. After of a few times I got sick of people somehow not noticing a big guy on a blue bike with headlights near them. So I chopped of the old exhaust and put a new louder one, whatta you know I haven't had any mishaps like that in 4 months than what i did in about 2 months. Some people may have super obnoxious pipes or lack of them yes, but for the most part bikers really do benefit from them so suck it up and put up witha little bit of noise or gtfo and go to the middle of nowhere!

Wow! How profound of you to come up with this one. I'm impressed! Did you learn that in day care today?
It's insensitive, "I care only about me" people like you who are ruining a decent way of life around here. You're all out there ranting and raving that you go this right and that right and don't give a good crap what anyone else thinks. This is the way our county is going? God help us. It's people like you that get countries like us into war. Gotta shoot you big mouth off, telling the rest of the world to shove or leave. If you really want to be tough go join the Marines big mouth. Then you can fight for real. And when you come back with half a head left and you're told nobody gives a crap what you think about anything you go complain to the rest of the losers on this forum who are mostly just as brainless as you are. People like you make good people sick. It's always "me me me me me me" and nothing else. How about good old common decency or have you ever heard of that or hadn't your parent taught you anything about being a decent human being towards others? Why is it always gotta be your way of the highway? Are you so insignificant that this is the only way you can gain any attention? You're probably some pent up kid who's 100 lbs. overweight, face full of acne, beats off three times a day, quit school in the 7th grade when you were 16, short, can't grow a decent beard, and so fat you can't wipe your own ass. You don't work and have been holding out for a fry cooks job at MacDonalds but because of your personal hygiene they won't hire you.
There's always going to be someone out there who thinks that others should accept every little annoyance they can muster. Well, I don't want to and neither do 90% of the other people around here. Clowns like you are a dime a dozen so don't think you're anything special. For a change I'd like to see people actually give a crap and drop the "all about me" attitude. Before you accuse me of this, stop and think. Do you really think most people like the racket bikes create? No. Only the people on the bikes like it because it reminds them of when they were a kid with cards banging on their spokes on their Schwinns. It's the only claim to "cool" that they've got. Lord knows it ain't their brains.

We moved here a few years ago and I'm surprised how quiet it is. They give tickets out to bike that are continually loud and the same for radios speakers. You get one warning and then after that it's a ticket. That's why they have competitions now for the loudest stereo. I agree with the poster. It's getting out of hand a bit too much.
Over in Vermont when we were there, if they can hear your stereo when you windows are closed, they'll ticket you. And loud bikes are pulled right over. There's no reason for all the noise no matter what anyone says. It's inconsiderate and annoying to everyone but the guilty parties.
Sorry gang. Trash me if you want. I couldn't care less now that I'm not around there anymore and the cops in my city got balls to stand up to the racket.

I used to live in Malone and it was a great little town. I came back for the holidays. How sad it is now. No one shovels their walks anymore - not even businesses downtown, questionable people hanging around doing nothing, seedy looking bar on Main St. gas stations all over, high gas prices, rude, obnoxious people at cash registers and in stores, huge, overweight people all over the place. What in the hell happened around here? It's like the town has gone completely to hell. Nothing downtown for stores unless you want to buy furniture if you can afford it, a Walmart and Kmart full of rude people. It's terrible. My family says it's because there's so much welfare around here now. Great. MORE people not working. They need to roll back the clocks and put people out on the streets to earn their monthly checks like they used to. They need to clean up the streets and shut sleazy looking bars down and put new shops downtown. Welfare did all this? I think it's more like people just let it get this way on its own. No one cares enough anymore. How sad for Malone. I feel sorry for anyone who still truly cares about this little village. It's no wonder people are leaving.
