The Residents In the county Nursing home who have been there for years and are use to the employees, and they are scared. Continuiy of care and emotional distress are weigh on the elderly. It is traumatic to them. Some of them may not except the change mentally, and emotionally. It may be a good thing for a few of them. It should have been brought up to Residents of these nursing homes before being thrown on the local news and put in the news paper. They are elderly and easily get upset and at times dont fully understand everything and feel threatend of their home. That must be the wost feeling when its not put in words they can understand without explanation. Please take the time to think about this and see the otherside rather than just think its a great thing for all of them..

You are 100% right.
Who ever runs the home should know all about mentally , and emotional stress. Thay should have informed the residents so this did not happen.
This is a big deal.
That is so sad that this happen.
Anyone who works with older people know this.
Its the last little bit of control thay have.

You are so right. We all read it in the newspaper. The administrator was never made aware, she found out when we told her about it Monday morning. SHe held a meeting with staff and residents. All were very sad. Tears were shed. This is heartbreaking. We asked for a meeting with the legislatures to explain to the residents why they were not informed, and this was denied. None of them are getting my vote. I plan on staying to the end. I will not work for ALice Hyde again, too much bs there. Everyone remember this on election day!! They are cowards and liars!!!

OK. And who controls the plan for the new Nursing Home - which is vitally important for our residents!, and who controls the construction of the plan? Is it that boot-licking IDIOT Feeley?

Guess what you'll get. A stupid idea constructed poorly! This isn't Amateur Hour. It's serious business.

And let me point out that two of the hopeful County candidates are Tim LaShomb, who supports the corrupt current managers of Comlinks (Still there!) and also bought Klein and Tinker for the IDA,(A real money maker for the County) and Besser Hannah who controlled the teacher union while the new construction and renovations of the school system were BOTCHED.(And I understand that many of the Trolls out there think it isn't sporting to look at what someone has accomplished with their life, but these are three relevant accomplishments).

Elect reasonable legislators - not self aggrandizing control freaks, and for God's sake get a REAL MANAGER! Pay an educated, experienced person $70,000 more per year than we pay dumb ass Feeley, and save MILLIONS a year.

You are so right!! You know they are all politicians which equals corruption. We are screwed no matter what. ALice Hyde will more than likely have the full say on everything. They already have the blueprints of what the building will look like. All of us employees at the nursing home are dispendable as far as Feeley and the legislatures are concerned. They have no regard for us or the residents that live there. Very very sad. I give my heart and soul there everyday and then some for what...to read in the paper that I loose my job in 2yrs, the residents that we call our family loose their home? Hmmm none of them get my vote!

The taxpayers of Franklin County should not be in the nursing home business no matter what the employees think. It is a costly money losing enterprise that would be better managed by a medical organization.
It has been under consideration for years and in the news for years so the fact that the employees seem surprised tells us that they don't care enough about the community to stay informed.
The taxpayers do not owe aqnyone of you a job.
I wonder how any of those employees even came up with the idea that by building a new home and putting it under new (proffesional) management would not require employees to go along with it?

I find it really hard to beleave that the administrator wasnot informed on this.It would belike the superentenend of school picking up the MET and reading that their going to build a new school next year and not ask for his input. I find it hard to beleave that thay never ask for a wish list to see what thay might want in a new home. Something big like that and not talk to the head person of the nurse home. I DON'T BELEAVE IT .

You call this positive. You must not know the definition. The political aspect is shitty in this area and also do you call 80 residents of franklin county being evicted from their home because their home is shutting down not very positive is it. What if your family member was in there private pay or not and was told that their home was being shut down and the only place thay they could go was Alice hydes nursing home if they were accpted as one of the ones to go and if they werent then who knows where they will be placed. this is a crock and everything has to be so hush hush that its ridiculous. Its all about money, money, money, well money is the route of all evil especially when its political. Well money does not buy happiness and happiness is what these people r having taken away. NOT VERY POSITIVE I THINK!!!! And by the way evn though these people live in the nursing home they r still residents of franklin county and should still have a voice in the matter.

You go dear, i will not vote. Politicians get money and i swear that they turn in to professional liars..They tell u what u want to hear and screw the rest, and when they get in office their head swells as does their pockets. Why does everything have to be about money. Lets see an honest politician do their job for nothing just to be dedicated to their residents of franklin county, ha ha that would never happen.

Well it's the truth, believe it or not, I know the truth. They have not discussed any details or a wish list. WE are not informed of anything. There will be many jobs lost, like anyone on topix really cares. The workers at the nursing home work with their hearts and souls. All the people in laundry will be loosing their jobs, Alice Hydes has a laundry service. And many other jobs will be lost. We are left out in the cold only to speculate about what is too come, and that is the truth!!

And I believe that you are correct. I would be willing to bet that the administrator was informed of this before hand (probably involved in survey talks too) but doesn't want to admit it because the nursing home staff will turn against her if they suspect she is in favor of this plan.

I hope you're not upset I corrected a couple of misspelled words in the quote.

What a pity that some employees would use the residents as an excuse to oppose the concept that a medical organization is better qualified to care for patients than a county.
This is certainly about money. No where in our laws or traditions are people promised that county taxpayers must care for them in their later years. I for one will be much more at ease to know that the hospital and not the county is responsible for the care of the elderly and I question the honor and motivation of nursing home employees who are shedding crocadile tears because of the effect this may have on current patients.

Let me start by saying I am a proud member of the County Nursing Home family. I am a nurse there, along with my wife and many other good hearted people. As far as the administrator knowing in advance, BULL SHIT! She came to the desk that night with a letter in her hand that was delivered via e-mail, tears in her eyes and a look of disbelief on her face! So in her defense, she dind't know it was a done deal that day. Noone in the nursing home, residents or staff, was given an attempt to talk to legislators about this matter. The crooks speak of a HUGE tax break for Franklin County, but let's see the bill from the pointless construction at the court house! Huge picture windows, new stairs with brass handles....of course one of you will claim it was paid for by a grant, that's a damn lie. The nursing home site will give the county the opportunity to place it on the tax map which will ultimately give money back in the hands of the legislators, not the county! I understand the idea to have a health care facility run the nursing home but we have done good for the most part. I also understand that when Feely was appointed a while back he was told to close that nursing home down. Alice Hyde can't guarantee any of us jobs, they are also a private sector which means they can choose to take certain residents and turn away others. This only adds to the huge enterprise that already exists at Alice Hyde. I'm sure they do a good job running things but they will find not too many of us will be going to work for them in a couple years. Many of us have left already looking to secure a better future..I'm gonna lose my state retirement while the politicians that pushed this will have theirs. Those poor people, I can feel the tension in the air everyday when I go to work, try to make them understand, they can't. They feel left in the dark, as do I. I know it may do no good to post on here or speak to our legislators but damnit, WE HAVE A VOICE! I think enough people have been tight lipped for too long. Come on cowards, give us the chance to speak, come to the home that you will soon vacate and speak to the people who live there...they don't care if you build a multi billion dollar facility, they just want to stay in their home. That's all I got to say...need to prepare for another day at work trying to figure out how to make the residents feel SOMEWHAT cared about...atleast they have us!!!

I've read the stories, and haven't seen where Alice Hyde is going to throw any residents onto the streets. They can build a facility big enough to provide a home to all the current residents.

We've all read the stories about Mansion's physical condition and how bad it is for the residents, but now many complain that the residents are about to get moved out of it and into a brand new building. Seems a bit contradictory to me.

Has it occurred to anyone that maybe when Alice yde builds it's new nursing home, it will include Hsome of the services it now subcontracts out (laundry). Because now it will be cost effective to do so.

Has it occurred to anyone that much of what's being written here are people jumping to conclusions without any details or facts? And, yes, this is about money and the fact that the county nursing home is financially disasterous and and physically decrepit.

This plan saves the taxpayers money; will provide the residents a new, modern home; and will need staff.

Where are all the service consolidation people on this-we've eliminated an entire group of administrators who are on the county dole. Isbn't this something that many posters here keep yelling about? But when it happens-----NIMBY

It sounds like you are stoking the fears of the residents, shame on you, if I were your boss you would be fired on the spot. What gave the residents the idea they would become homeless and uncared for if not some criminally negligent staffers?

The courthouse work is about permanence and energy savings and you are too uninformed to make the statements you made.
Lastly, it is not written in any law, our constitution or anywhere else that the receivers of county tax money and services are in charge of how those services are delivered. The taxes in this county are too high and if the residents of the nursing home have been frightened by the staff about their future it still doesn't give them the right to demand that the taxpayers continue to lose millions of dollars a year taking care of them.

To the residents: Do not listen to the staffers who are telling you that you are in danger, the taxpayers of the county and the hospital are going to make sure that you are safe and secure in a new home close to the medical services you need and cared for by an organization that is caring and professional.
