Once again, no one heeds the call in a timely manner. Once again, city administrators worry about perception and bury their heads in the sand.

And once again, I see comments that make me worry more about the response of citizens who are spouting off about things they haven't researched.

I spent 19 years in law enforcement in Grant co. I've investigated gang related crime from stabbings, to shootings, to assaults. None of this in this article is new.

Biggest problems faced with gangs as I have seen are lack of family/parental involvement; tolerance; intolerance; education; lack of hard-core judicial systems; and more. And don't let me forget to mention all the citizenry who "don't want to get involved" but will turn out in droves to lambast the local police at a town-hall meeting.

I've seen several episodes where everyone wants to be on a committee to point a finger of blame but they're all to busy to roll up their sleeves and do any work.

Letting the police do their job and helping by being good witnesses is important. Calling your courts and demanding they enforce laws more strictly is important. Voting for more jails is important. Suffering some increased local taxes is important.

Not sitting back and waiting for government to do something YOU should be doing is important!
