Just another liberal lie!!!
In the early 1940s, Byrd recruited 150 of his friends and associates to create a new chapter of the Ku Klux Klan.
According to Byrd, a Klan official told him, "You have a talent for leadership, Bob ... The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation." Byrd later recalled, "suddenly lights flashed in my mind! Someone important had recognized my abilities! I was only 23 or 24 years old, and the thought of a political career had never really hit me. But strike me that night, it did." Byrd held the titles Kleagle (recruiter) and Exalted Cyclops. When it came time to elect the "Exalted Cyclops", the top officer in the local Klan unit, Byrd won unanimously.[9]
In 1944, Byrd wrote to segregationist Mississippi Senator Theodore G. Bilbo:[
“ I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”
— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944,
In 1946 or 1947, Byrd wrote a letter to a Grand Wizard stating, "The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation."
You left off a bit of your wiki quote...

In 1997, Byrd told an interviewer he would encourage young people to become involved in politics but also: "Be sure you avoid the Ku Klux Klan. Don't get that albatross around your neck. Once you've made that mistake, you inhibit your operations in the political arena." In his last autobiography, Byrd explained that he was a KKK member because he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision—a jejune and immature outlook—seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions." Byrd also said, in 2005, "I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened."

You can deny all you wish, but the southern democrats were quite conservative and defected to the republican party and shifted it to the more conservative entity it is today. Many were prompted to jump party with the shift towards civil rights for blacks. Both parties have evolved into groups that don't resemble what they once were. You're clinging to the name when the whole species changed. Shouting "liar" does absolutely nothing to bolster your stance. It simply makes you look like the fool that you are.

Here are the exact words from the APA, notice the quotation marks.
This is what the APA says, since you are trying to deflect from it. They have revised their position.
"There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles...."
Yes moron, I know. That's word for word the same as the link I provided. Jeebus, you get stupider by the minute.
Kirk Cameron wrote:
<quoted text>
That contrasts with the APA's statement in 1998: "There is considerable recent evidence to suggest that biology, including genetic or inborn hormonal factors, play a significant role in a person's sexuality."
It doesn't contrast at all. They simply replaced "genetic or inborn hormonal factors" with the word "nature".

But please, do continue promoting your "contrasting" statements!!!! Still makes my sides ache with laughter everytime!!!!! Your picture has now been added to the word "idiot" in the dictionary.
Kirk Cameron wrote:

Actually, funny person, the APA has been friends to the gay community since 1973.
What they said then and what they said in 2003, has nothing to do with what they said recently.
Actually its pretty much the same. Your lack of comprehension skills isn't my concern.
Kirk Cameron wrote:

Like you gays say, prior to 1980, homosexuality was listed as a mental disorder by the APA.
We gays don't say that.
Kirk Cameron wrote:
<quoted text>
You discount that, well now you get to discount their 2003 statement.
Who's discounting their current statement? Oh, that's right, no one. Because their current statement says pretty much what everyone says. No one knows, but most suspect that nature (you know, genes and biology) plays a role.

You see Kirk dear, "we gays" aren't concerned about what the APA states as it relates to what causes our homosexuality. We don't care. We know we are gay, we accept that we are gay, and we know that we will always be gay. We spend as much time contemplating what made us gay as left handed people spend wondering what made them left handed. Basically we spend about NIL considering it. We all share similar experiences with it, and nothing the APA will ever state will alter our experience or our orientation.

Your believe that you have some sort of weapon against us using statements from the APA merely shows, yet again, what an idiot you are!!!
Kirk Cameron wrote:
<quoted text>
BY the way, I think it funny, because the APA is all that you have.
No, actually we have our shared experiences. WE are all the APA have when it comes to research in this area. You have it backwards, yet again dipshit.

"Is homosexuality a mental disorder:
NO, lesbian, gay, and bisexual orientations are NOT DISORDERS. Research has found no inherent association between any of these sexual orientations and psychopathology. Both heterosexual behavior and HOMOSEXUAL BEHAVIOR ARE NORMAL ASPECTS OF HUMAN SEXUALITY. Both have been documented in many different cultures and historical eras. Despite the persistence of stereotypes that portray lesbian, gay, and bisexual people as disturbed, several decades of research and clinical experience have led all mainstream medical and mental health organizations in this country to CONCLUDE THAT THESE ORIENTATIONS REPRESENT NORMAL FORMS OF HUMAN EXPERIENCE. LESBIAN, GAY, AND BISEXUAL RELATIONSHIP ARE NORMAL forms of human bonding. Therefore, these mainstream organizations long ago abandoned classifications of homosexuality as a mental disorder."

APA revises 'gay gene' theory - admits it's not a psychological disorder
« on: May 14, 2009, 11:42:32 AM »

http://www.onenewsnow.com/Culture/Default.asp...

The attempt to prove that homosexuality is determined biologically has been dealt a knockout punch. An American Psychological Association publication includes an admission that there's no homosexual "gene" -- meaning it's not likely that homosexuals are born that way.

For decades, the APA has not considered homosexuality a psychological disorder, while other professionals in the field consider it to be a "gender-identity" problem. But the new statement, which appears in a brochure called "Answers to Your Questions for a Better Understanding of Sexual Orientation & Homosexuality," states the following:

"There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles...."

That contrasts with the APA's statement in 1998: "There is considerable recent evidence to suggest that biology, including genetic or inborn hormonal factors, play a significant role in a person's sexuality."

"People need to understand that the 'gay gene' theory has been one of the biggest propaganda boons of the homosexual movement over the last 10 [or] 15 years," he points out. "Studies show that if people think that people are born homosexual they're much less likely to resist the gay agenda."

With the new information from the APA, Barber wonders if the organization will admit that homosexuals who want to change can change.

"It's irrefutable from a medical standpoint that people can leave the homosexual lifestyle," he argues. "Homosexuality is defined by behavior. Untold thousands of people have found freedom from that lifestyle through either reparative therapy or through -- frankly, most effectively -- a relationship with Jesus Christ."

Let me help you.

What is PFOX?

Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays (PFOX) is a national non-profit organization that supports families and educates the public on sexual orientation & the ex-gay community. PFOX’s statement of principles is found at www.pathinfo.org

PFOX supports an inclusive environment for the ex-gay community, and works to eliminate negative perceptions and discrimination against former homosexuals. PFOX conducts public education and outreach to further individual self-determination and respect for all Americans, regardless of their sexual orientation. Please join us in our journey for truth, tolerance, and understanding.
Who are PFOX families?

PFOX families love their homosexual child unconditionally. Unlike other organizations which insist that parental love is conditional on affirming homosexual behavior, there are no conditions on our love for our children. We do not have to approve of everything our children do. Blanket approval is not responsible parenting or love. True love is loving in spite of our differences and treating each other with kindness and respect.
Aren’t some people born gay?

We have all heard of individuals who entered homosexuality later in life after marrying and having children with an opposite-sex spouse. No scientific evidence has established a genetic cause for homosexuality or found a “gay gene.” There is no DNA or medical test to determine if a person is homosexual. Sexual orientation is a matter of self-affirmation and public declaration.“Gay” is a self-chosen identity. According to the American Psychiatric Association, there are no replicated scientific studies to support that people can be born “gay” or that homosexuality is innate.

According to the American Psychological Association,“[a]lthough much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors.”[2008]
