Why is this a sudden "HOT" item people are wanting to buy? I've seen this alot on the internet recently. People wanting to buy diabetic test strips. Are people getting high with them in some way? From the Springfield, Mo topix people are wanting to but them. Even in Indiana, and Illinoise. I don't understand this. There is something goin on here.

This is very odd. I mean, I am a diabetic,(Type 1 or Juvenile Diabetes) and if I don't have a prescription, I can't buy syringes I need to stay alive because people use them to shoot up....Now they are going to make it hard to get my test strips?!?! I have to believe that maybe the people wanting to buy the test strips are buying them at a discounted rate and maybe using them on some sort of "trade up" for better, more advanced strips for modern meters...just a thought. Here are some online prices for test strips to be bought on the internet:
Freestyle Lite Blood Glucose Monitoring Strips -$144.99
Precision Xtra™ Blood Glucose Test Strips -$699.91
Precision Xtra ™ Blood Glucose Test Strips -$662.00

Maybe they are just hit hard by the economy and are trying to stay alive, cheaply.

No, this same guy has posted this on several places on the internet. He's not just trying to stay alive. There's more to it than that. I'm curious as to why.

Didn't say HE was, but the post after yours verifies my assumptions. People getting high off diabetic test strips would be like people getting high off post it notes. Keep up the search, though, it's kind of fun to watch.

Hello, this is Todd, and there is nothing odd about saving money, or helping others in need. This may even help you....maybe your hurting financially, and are just wanting to get more information: Well, here it is, read below, and get an instant pay raise, we can all use that! or you may know someone else. Best Wishes to you.
We work with a group of diabetics without health insurance who are faced with the difficult task of finding test strips from other sources because they can’t afford to pay retail prices at pharmacies or large retail stores and they don’t have Medicare or MediCal to depend upon. These struggling diabetics buy test strips at deeply discounted prices on the Internet.
You have to find a diabetic or the family of a former diabetic who has an oversupply of diabetic test strips they don’t need or want. We buy test strips and provide them at below 50% of the retail price to help them out. <quoted text>

you can go to walmart and get a reli-on meter and their strips are like $22-24 for 50 ..the reason all these people on tv as well as hospitialsgive tou these fancy meters is so they can sell you the strips for $2-5 a piece ,,it's a scam!!!if your insurance is paying for it people don't care ...600 bucks for a meter when you can buy one for $20? this is why we can't have universal health care ..GREED!!

Hi, I just found this posting while searching for... discounted test strips. I buy test strips from people that have overstock, women who had gestational diabetes and are no longer pregnant or from people that have had a diabetic family member pass away. My doctor does not write me a prescription for enough strips each month to cover any sick days, low blood sugars etc etc. I have to skimp on everything. On top of that my father was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and his insurance does not cover testing supplies, so I've been giving him some of my supplies, which makes my supplies even lower. If there weren't people on the internet selling their supplies I think I'd probably be dead.

A ton of people. I buy approx. 5,000 boxes a year. I have helped save several lives... what have you done lately, besides sending out negative vibes on your lovely post. I'm not discouraged with negative people, that are jealous. It just reminds me of the old saying, you REAP WHAT YOU SOW! I wished everyone would just work together.
I know topix's isn't a good place to talk to others, because it's a secret message board, where know one knows the other, and you can talk trash behind the computer screen, in your back bedroom, and get some kind of satisfaction. I guess its good for some people that are unhappy, and depressed... try finding something good to say or don't say anything at all.

Todd,

I saw your posting and was curious as to what you charge for a box of One Touch Ultra strips? Or how you go about helping people who need strips. I see a lot of people (not saying you) claiming to buy strips to help the uninsured etc etc. Yet, they turn around and sell the strips. When someone goes to buy strips yes the price is discounted from buying it at a pharmacy, but the seller is still making a HUGE profit. Even if you only made $10 a box, but bought 5000 boxes a year. That's $50K profit. Again, I'm not saying you do it, but I was just wondering how your program works.

You can apply for prescription assistance program. It really helps and pays a lot on your medicines. You have to be low income or no income.
