According to an article published by this news site, the top three most aggressive dog breeds are Dachshund, Chihuahua, and Jack Russell. It's a shame that people have not done their research. The dachshund is proven to be the most mentally unstable breed that is prone to violent outbursts. When a Chihuahua bites someone, nobody cares because the damage is limited. The Pit Bull ranks up there with the Golden Retriever in terms of friendliness towards humans. While at times informative, statistics on fatal dog attacks can also be misleading. For example, a number of cases where a Pit Bull, Rottweiler or German Shepherd were counted as causing a human fatality, in reality the direct result was from gross human negligence or criminal intent. And finally, every single pit bull taken from Michael Vick's Bad Newz Kennels, with exception of those who had to be put down due to their injuries, have been rehabilitated by Bad Rap, an organization in the Bay Area. http://www.badrap.org/rescue/
In regards to the little girl and her godmother, I am sorry this horrible dog experience has happened to you. I wish you a successful recovery. |

3 dogs - 1 stray pit mix - 1 lab mut - 1 6mo old lab/bird dog mix. Lab mut had a litter of 6 day old puppies. Mother dog protecting new pups. Please just teach your childern that not all dogs are friendly! With the right kind of provocation any dog and I do mean any dog will bite and in a pack sitting will revirt back to animal instinct.

First off, the dogs were NOT Pit Bulls. The dogs have been euthanized. My niece was simply knocking on the neighbor's door to tell the two children that live there "Thank You" for eltting her play with their toys that weekend. The dogs were in the back yard and heard her knocking on the door. When my niece got back on her bike to ride away, the dogs had escaped the backyard and pulled her off her bike and attacked her. She has taken on sever injuries as well as her godmother. In fact, her godmother has returned to the hospital because her injuries have gotten infected and is making her ill.
Please don't blame or hate the dogs for what has heppened. It is the owner's fault! The dogs were KNOWN to be aggressive and the owner had to put up and electric wire around the backyard to contain the dogs. Also, my niece informed me that the owner of the dogs had rescued them from being strays. The dogs were a Border Collie mix, a Golden Labrador mix and POSSIBLY a Pit Bull mix. People giving these pit bulls a bad reputation is UNFAIR! NOT ALL PITS ARE VICIOUS! It is up to the OWNER to train their dogs well! Pit Bull owners must be aware they have a very strong dog and need to train it well! I have had pit bulls before and all of my dogs were VERY GENTLE! So PLEASE stop with the negative attitude towards Pits! The news reporters are WRONG about the breed of dogs that did this and have been WRONG SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE! Thank you for your time. ~The Girl's Aunt |

You said "you never hear of a Lab...or such attacking people." One of the dogs that attacked my niece WAS a LAB! |
|
I think you should get YOUR story straight! The dogs were not Rotweilers either! The dogs were 1 Border Collie mix, 1 Yellow Labrador mix and 1 POSSIBLE Pit Bull mix! I am upset with the misinformation about the breed of dogs as well! ANY dog can be VICIOUS!!! NO MATTER WHAT BREED! |
|
My niece was NOT WONDERING ALONE in the area. Her godmother was sitting on the porch of her house and my niece rode her bike NEXT DOOR to tell the kids that live there thank you for letting her play with their toys. She wasn't "Wondering". |
|
Yes, and I don't know where this story came from. I have posted the REAL story on here. She was not in a fenced area with the dogs. This just proves that you cannot believe EVERYTHING the news tells you! They have their facts all kinds of screwed up! |
|
Pits and Rots can do far more damage than a lab, poodle, chiauahua, etc. That is primarily why they make the headlines. |

How about quaranteened AND euthanized? I think there should be 2 pieces of legislation passed:
1. Declare certain breeds "lethal weopons", and if the dogs attack someone <unprovoked> charge the owner with "assault with a deadly weopon". 2. Declare a "1-strike" rule. If an animal attacks a person <unprovoked> the animal is euthanized. |

As soon as the police reports are released it will be public knowledge and anyone can get a copy. Mesquite Police Department,$6.00 - just mail the request with a self-address and stamped envelope and payment. Include Date and time location for the occurance. Then we can all talk about what "really" happened. Noone has it right.

What do you mean children? Are you talking about the girl? Dogs are pets NOT children. BOTTOMLINE!! Pits are vicious and should be erraticated from this earth! |

To all you Pit lovers..
These dogs have proven to be dangerous. There are reports of attacks by pits every week. Statistics will tell you that not all of these pit owners are bad owners. Pits are just plan and simple mean aggressive dogs. Please get that through your head...THEY ARE MEAN AND AGGRESSIVE DOGS!!! You may be able to supress them for a while, but they will seige the first opportunity. We need to stop enabling these wild animals. You can domesticate a bear, tiger or lion, but they are still wild animals and still dangerous. That is what you idiots don't realize. You treat them as if they are children, that they know right from wrong, that you can trust them. YOU CANNOT. The owners are not the ones in danger...any other smaller animal is (that includes children). BAN PITS or better yet MAKE THEM EXTINCT! |

An 8-year-old-girl attacked by a pitbull at Ashley Creek Apartments zipcode 75243 in 2006 didn't make the news but this story did. The manager at Ashley Creek when this happened was Delma Beck hired by Noel Property Management which is owned by Ashley-Gould Holding Company. The SPCA was never called. People still own pitbulls there.

No dog ranks as more important than any child. We had a stray that was beautifull (not a pit or rott) wander up when we were little. He showed some aggressive traits and my dad euthanized him. He never tried to find him a home because he felt he would hurt someone. Really the owners knew these dogs were aggressive. Why risk hurting someone? They should have been put down before this ever happened.

From the way that I understand it, the little girl crossed either through a door or over a fence, after being instructed to stay away. The little girls glasses where found just inches from the opening of the dog house where one of the dogs had a litter of puppies that was located inside the fenced in area. For everyone that wants to blame the owners, I think that they had a reasonalbe expectation when they left that day their property and wellbeing were safe. There is noone that lives in that house under the age of 18 and everyone is either at work or school during the day. If you were trying to make since out of it you can't. My niece and nephew are the same age and had been around and played with those same dogs. It is just a truely sad situtation for everyone invovled. My heart goes out to them and I pray that everyone is doing ok. God Bless |
