Bicyclists take their lives into their own hands when they drive on the road during busy hours especially. Perhaps they're the ones that need the Light Rail.

It hurts me when people seem to blame the bike rider. This young man was on the shoulder of the road, was wearing a helmet and was hit from behind. It doesn't seem that the murderer even stopped to see what he or she had done.

Comparisons to bike riders in other situations don't really make much sense. But just use patience when you see a biker struggling to stay alive around traffic. It might annoy you, but what are you losing -- a few seconds of your time?

I hope everyone will think and pray, and push for there to be PROTECTED bikeways all around the islands, so that this tragedy is not repeated. God gave Hawaii the most beautiful weather and landscape imaginable. Irresponsibility, negativism, greed and laziness keep our keiki from having safe lanes to ride their bikes in.

Many other places realize the value of this simple, free and healthy method of transit. Billions for rail from Kapolei to Ala Moana will not help anyone there. Where are our priorities?

It sounds like David was a person with a bright mind and a good heart, a hardworking young man and a much loved relative and friend. Again, our condolences.

To all of our friends and family on the island. After spending all day at the local funeral home the arrangements have been made We will be having a viewing at the Schofield Barracks post chapel on Tuesday starting at 6:00 PM the doors are open to all, this includes anyone thatwent to school with, worked or knew David. To my family and friends stateside we will be returning to Jeffersonville Ind with David on July 31. I know that everyone is grieving and most of Davids family has contacted me. As for the rest of us on this forum for their own political agenda or gain, please stop and allow us all to concentrate on the apprehension of the perpetrator

AMEN!!! I can't believe all of the racial crud going on. This was a horrible accident and from all I have read and heard of the bickering would be the last thing David would have wanted or approved of.

david was a happy and energetic person. he was always in a good mood and could always make you smile. he had a way of lifting the stress off of the work place that just made others comfortable. he and i were not close but he was a good kid. many in our work place have been sadened by this tragedy and have been deeply affected by it. to his family i know there is nothing that can be said to comfort you in anyway. and nothing can fix it. and as the mother of two small children myself i cannot imagine the pain you must feel. but here is something i have been told since i was a little girl. when we are given children by god they are not ours to keep he my call them home as he pleases. david touched many people and and will greitly missed even by those of us who did not know him so well. take comfort in the fact that you loved him and did your best to care for him and keep him safe while he was here. and david i know we werent close but i will miss you and the night shift at bk just isnt the same without you. rest in peace.

Crystal, Dave, and Suzanne, all three of you played a major role in raising David and all three of you deserve a lot of credit for raising a young man who was so loved by so many everywhere he had ever lived. God has his reasons for everything and we may not understand but he had a reason for this too. We all hurt so much but we have to beleive that we will all see David again some day and he will still be smiling and waiting for us to come one by one. Remember all the good times and just know that David is in Heaven now and will never suffer. We all have to go on for him and make sure we all do everything possible to see that the person responsible for his death is apprehended. God knows who did this and he will surely judge this person harshly. Our pain will eventually become less and we all just have to rest assured that David is smiling down on us and telling us that we must go on and just keep his memory in our hearts. He was a good boy and will always be with us in some way.
