This is the key. Businesses aren't going to hire people just because they can afford to. If hiring more people isn't going to bring in more business, what's the point? Would you be looking to hire someone who has just spent the past 12 - 18 months on unemployment? Is someone with that sort of initiative really going to help my business? People who are gainfully employed are more likely to stay put.even if other opportunities are out there thus reducing the pool of qualified hires even further. There's simply no incentive for most businesses to hire.

Why hire here when all the cash is in Asia or Saudi Arabia?
