I also have family in Magnolia. Not sure about the whole town, but their house was badly damaged by a tree. They have no power, but they do have land line phones. No cells, though.

I have a Seniors discussion group on MSN and one of our Members lives with her daughter in Magnolia TX. She posted to one of our group managers, that there were a lot of trees down and plenty of wind damage, no mention of any fatalities. They are out of power and no running water. Our Member said they were very lucky to be spared, and that they took in lots of supplies before Ike rampaged.

Thank you Jen, Barbara and Cathie Sterling. I am desperate for Magnolia news. It sounds bbad, but thank goodness not like Galveston. My aunt is sick and there are no land lines, no cells, no power, no water. I know she must be terribly uncomfortable. I would just feel better if I could hear her voice.

Thnks again to all of you.

I live in Magnolia, but left yesterday to stay with family elsewhere. There are alot of trees down, no electricity, no water, no phone service, and no cell phone service (as far as we experienced). There were a few buildings that I could see that had siding peeled up, but as far as I saw there was no devestating damage. I did see a few homes with trees fallen on them, but it didn't appear to be life threatening. We were very minor in damage compared to Galveston. I hope this helps.

We also live in Magnolia but left Sunday morning to stay with family in San Antonio because there was no power or running water. We stayed through the storm. A few trees were down in the neighborhood. None on our property. Phone service is out. Cell service is spotty at best. All of the people in my neighborhood appeared to be OK. If you have family in Magnolia that you can't reach, chances are that they made it through the storm OK. Biggest problem is going to be surviving without power and water until Centerpoint makes it out there. Hope this helps.

Most of Magnolia got power today. Local city business is opening. My phone service started working tonight. Lots of trees down....we were blessed. Compared to other areas Magnolia did okay. We have beautiful cool weather for those who are still without power.

Thanks to all of you, I heard from my familly and all is well. They have power. No gas, can't get to doctors, but all things considered, all is well.
Thanks again. Hope all your loved ones are back on their feet soon.

The town as a whole is doing ok. Still a lot of us w/o power and hating it, but surviving. I spoke with a MPD officer last Sunday morning and he said that after driving the whole area, they had noticed no real catastrophic damage (except for places like the Trophy Shop) but a TON of minor damage. I am sure any family from the Magnolia area who can't be reached is in the same boat my family is in...no power and sketchy cell service. I'm sure they are fine....just "camping out" like we are..:D
