Has anyone else had problems with their diesel engines after buying fuel from the Exxon at FM 1488 and Joseph Rd. My truck started knocking after I filled up there on Sep. 23rd. It got worse and started running rough the last couple days. It's now at the dealer undergoing $1600+ in repairs to the fuel system. A sample pulled from the truck's tank is full of foreign debris of some sort. The guy at the Exxon says nobody else has complained.

My husband is having strange feul issues with his truck. Someone called it "bad diesel". What happens in side the truck when you have bad diesel?? He can only drive @20mph and it's a nightmare. He wants to "drive out " the bad and fill it up with new. Any thoughts?

Logan: This is probably too late to help you, but I tried to do the same thing. Before I was down to half a tank, the engine went from just knocking badly to actually "misfiring". I took it to the dealership and they had to replace one of the injectors, not to mention drain the tank and flush out the entire fuel system. The filter was clogged too, which may be what is keeping yours from going over 20mph. I'm trying to get reimbursed for the repair by the station, but they keep telling me that nobody else has complained about their fuel. That's the reason for my original post. I'm trying to find others who had the same problem with this station.

I put on 97 gallons of bad diesel at Flying J in Pecos, TX Thur. Oct. 30th 08'in my Motor Home. Only made it 70 miles after fill-up. On my third filter now with about 60 gallons left in tank. Flying J has told me every lie in the book at this point, but bottom line is they will not admit fault. The only fuel ever put in the Coach has been Flying J with fill-ups at J's in Sullivan, MO. and Houston, TX earlier in the week. Any station can have a problem but not standing up to it is sad, I will never use Flying J again.

Filled up my 2008 F250 with Diesel at Shell station on Harford Rd Parkville Md. Water filter light came on in 2 min after leaving satation. I drained water out. Light came on next day. Took truck for dealer had tank cleaned out, lines flushed and new filters. Few days passed and truck began to loose poiwer. Back to dealer and payed $1,300 to change filters and new fuel pump. Truck still could not go over 40mph! No turbo boost could not go over 2000rpm. Now looking at $13,000 repair bill!!!! from bad diesel! The pump that sprays 25000psi diesel into engine has broken. 60hs of labor and $6000 in parts. Thank GOD for GEICO Insurance! Truck will be good as new. I cant imagine bad diesel can do this and that FORD (and all others) cant make a filter or some type of safety something to stop bad diesel from doing extreme damage! LOVE MY TRUCK !

Thank all environmental goofballs for the new diesel fuel, higher prices of diesel, all the new high tech stuff on our new diesel engines that will break and give us future problems. The new diesel has an even higher chance of algae growing in the fuel. Try to buy all fuels at busy national name brand stations. It will help but everytime we fill up with diesel it it like a time bomb!!! One never knows if it is bad until its to late!

I started this thread 15 months ago and now find myself going through the same problem all over again. The Exxon station at fault in Sep.'08 finally reimbursed me for the repair after I made a formal complaint with Exxon Corporate. Two days ago I filled up the same truck with 22 gallons of diesel from a different Exxon (FM 1488 & FM 1774 in Magnolia, TX). I got 11 miles down the road and the truck began to run rough. I tried to get back home but the truck got worse and worse, finally dying after about 25 miles of driving. It was towed to the dealer and a sample of the fuel was pulled. It is a bright yellow, much like yellow gatorade, and is much thinner than normal diesel fuel. Again the station is denying any problems with their diesel. I'll complain to Exxon Corporate again tomorrow, and I'm cutting up my Exxon card after spending $600+/month for the last 8 years on it.

Purchased diesel fuel at a Kangaroo Express in Pelham Alabama on January 31, 2010. Pump quit pumping fuel into my truck after 4 gallons. I went across street and purchased $60.00 worth of diesel. Truck starting blowing black smoke and after the tank got down to almost empty, truck quit on me. I have approx $1,000.00 in expenses and The Pantry Co (Kangaroo Express) sent me a 'form' letter, inserted name and address, stating they are denying my claim. Never purchase fuel from them!!!!!!! Did anyone else get bad fuel there?

I filled up my car at the Shell station in Evansville, IN. Two weeks later, with 1/2 tank remaining, my car turned itself off. I found out the cause was bad diesel fuel. The repairs cost $1,144, my insurance company covered $644, I am now taking the Shell station to small claims court to get reimbursed for my $500 deductable. The station said the same thing, nobody else has had any problems..... I'm going to copy and paste this blog to take with me to court. Good luck all!

i bought diesel fuel at elephant butte lake in new mexico at a store called chislom corner got 40 miles down the road and my engine stopped. got a tow and took it to a mehanic bad diesel he said. fuel filter was full of water and a clear jello like substance. entire fuel system lost went to the store and told the clerk. this clerk was rude and hateful would not call his manager or give me a phone number insurance to claim on. this is at 3pm i told him i wasn't leaving till i talk to owner or manager so he called the cops on me after i warned anyother customer and had me barred from the store. thank goodness for insurance. but why should i have to pay a 500 deductible.if you are ever in elephant butte new mexico don't buy fuel at CHISOLM'S CORNER BAD FUEL, AND THE WORST SERVICE EVER.

I was thinking about buying a Dodge 2500 with a Cummmins diesel engine but everybody at work told me not to do it. One co-worker said he had problems with water in the fuel and faulty injectors. He said, "Whatever you do, don't buy a Ford diesel truck." My neighbor told me the same thing about Ford diesels.

I put 13.2 gallons of diesel fuel from Raceway on 15th St in Tuscaloosa Al in my 2012 Volkswagen jetta tdi I bought 3 weeks ago. 10 miles later I'm broken down on the side of the road. I towed it to quality Volkswagen in Ttown and and was told the diesel fuel was bad. Now they want to replace the engine. I bought and paid for a brand new factory car and want a brand new factory car. How should I approach this? If anyone else has had issues with this please email me. Jami.coggins@yahoo.com

Have 2010 jetta tdi. Got bad diesel. Car died on road 24 )rs later. Towed home. Towed to dealer next day. Tank drained. Fuel filter changed. System flushed. Wouldn't start. Bad high pressure fuel pump. They say Vw will probably not let them just replace the pump. Will have to do whole fuel system!$ 6000 a $10000!
Did I mention it only has a tad over 40,000 miles on it. Of course station where I got fuel says no problems. Sell lots of diesel to trucks. 1st time at this place. Got insurance co. Involved. Don't know where this is going. But I'm gonna go back to gas engine soon as able. The higher mileage not worth knowing this could happen really any time. Do Europeans have this problem?

On a business trip in Wichita, KS. I filled up my truck at KD Quick Shop, 10409 W. Maple with diesel. The water light came on immediately and in three miles the truck would hardly run. I now have paid a $14,500 repair bill for new fuel injectors, computer and other ruined parts in my truck. The dealer who did the repairs saved the gas to show it was bad. We are hiring an attorney as the Ag Department sent someone out to the station, SEVEN days later to check the gas pump, and of course it was clean as a whistle. We are paranoid about where we get diesel now. Please get ahold of me if you also obtained bad gas from this station in the month of June. carlcsnider@gmail.com
