I heard that they caught the man that did this about a week ago. He was buying something in a convenience store and pulled out a womens change purse that struck the cashier as odd. Especially since she had heard that Bridgette's was missing. She reported him to the police and the DNA matched. This is all rumor...I am trying to find factual reports of what we had heard this weekend when we were there. They said he was a plumbing contractor hired by the beach house rental company and that he had worked on the rental house she was staying at while she was there. After reading the posting from AAIOU on June 6th that a 72 yr old plumber had gotten burned up in his apartment it makes you think the old guy might have worked with the guy that did this and he may have felt he knew too much and took care of him! I wish I could find a police report backing this information up so that we can know the family has found peace and we can rest easy when we go to the beach!

I knew Bridgette and her daughter and pray everyday they find her killer for the sake of her beautiful little girl. She deserves that much. Having ti grow up without her mother is bad enough, not having the killer brought to justice is worse.

what's the purpose of rape? what's the purpose of murder? what's the purpose of rape and murder together? someone's way of being powerful over another? why do these evil things occur? so, is earth really hell when rapes and murders occur? or any other evil event that takes place? can anyone answer these questions? as a person you never know someone's sorrow until it happens to you then it changes you forever.!
JUST SAW THIS. RAPE IS WHAT YOU SAY, THAT IS GOOS INSIGHT. I AM SURE THERE ARE RAPES THAT ARE SEXUAL, LIKELY THEY ARE FOR EXERCISING THE ULTIMATE POWER OVER PEOPLE. THERE ARE ENOUGH PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WHERE ANYONE CAN FIND SOMEONE TO HAVE SEX WITH, THE RAPIST DOES IT FOR POWER , POWER OVER WOMEN.
TO ME RAPE IS , I HOPE I AM OK SAYING THIS, WORSE THAN MURDER. OF COURSE THE BRUTAL ONES ARE THE MOST TRAGIC. A WOMAN MUST LIVE HER LIFE KNOWING AND RELIVING WHAT HAPPENED TO HER, THE FORCED TAKING OF THAT WHICH IS THE MOST PRIVATE OF PRIVATE, SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL IN OUR SOCIETY.
I WISH SEX OFFENSES SHORT OF THOSE WITH HOMICIDE ALSO CARRIED THE DEATH PENALTY. THEN OUR RAPE VICTIMS COULD AT LEAST KNOW THAT ANIMAL THAT OFFENDED AND STOLE FROM HER WAS DEAD, THAT PART OF THE ACT IS DEAD, HE CAN NO LONGER BE ALIVE RELIVING HIS ACT IN HIS MIND AND ENJOYING IT, NOR CAN HE BRAG TO OTHERS ABOUT THE PERSON , THE HUMAN SO INSIGNIFICANT TO HIM. AND I WISH THE VICTIMS COULD PLAY A PART IN THE CESSATION OF HIS LIFE, AS I FEEL SHOULD HAPPEN IN MANY OFFENSES AGAINST CHILDREN.
I AM GLAD TO SEE THE POSTS I HAVE NOT REVIEWED IN SEVERAL MONTHS, IT IS PLEASING TO KNOW THAT ALL WHO POST HERE HAVE GENUINE FEELINGS ABOUT THESE EVENTS AND ARE TRYING AND WANTING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM, SUCCESSFUL OR NOT.
I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO ASK WITHHELD TO RETURN, MAKE SOME APPEARANCE. HAVE BEEN OUT THERE WHERE WITHHELD MAKES THEIR CLAIMS, LOOKED , IMAGINED WHAT THEY SAID AND RECALLED SOME OTHER CASES VERY NEAR THERE...ALSO FURTHER UP HIGH ISLAND, DEAN CORLL........WITHHELD , WOULD LIKE TO HEAR MORE OF YOUR THOUGHTS.

We will not forget you and your efforts. You have done a great deal in this case. I remain open for your requests, I think you know this.

Bridgette deserves justice, society deserves justice. The next victim needs to be protected. There are some very good people working on this, I feel they are close to something.

Happy holidays Bridgette. I continue to think of you and I did all I could. My help not wanted nor needed anymore. Any info I receive will not be forwarded. Your whispers continue to haunt me. Pray for justice may the God continue to guide you.

My family was there the week of Brigette's death. We were about a mile down from the cabin she was staying in. We were out on the beach daily that week and took many photos but after reviewing them many times over I see nothing that would be of help in this case.

While there on the beach we did see many people who would cruise by in their vehicles...there were many regulars that seemed to be partying all the time. One day...I think it was on Sunday while my Brother in-law was fishing in the surf one of these 'regulars' walked up to him. He began speaking with him about how he was homeless, sleeping where he could and asked for money to get back home. My BIL said he seemed upset at his situation and seemed lost. From what I remember, home was in Dallas. Of course, I am sure this is common for the area in the summer...young adults make their way down the beach to have a good time and for whatever reason don't find their way home right away and soon run out of money. However, since we were suspicious of almost everyone by that point we did wonder about him.
Our family has traveled to stay for a week at a time on Crystal Beach for many years since 1975. It's always been a wonderful setting for our family to gather to spend time together and catch up on our relationships with each other. We were all so upset upon hearing of Bridgette's horrible death because the safe place we once knew didn't seem so safe anymore. We'd walk up and down the beach at night...allowing young adult members of the family to walk down to our beach gathering alone but not anymore. It's so sad that this had to happen. Not to mention the toll hurricane IKE took upon it.

This story has no ending... it was the beach... hundreds or thousands of people from all over, I met a girl from canada there. Its too easy for a killer or drunk to get in ..kill.. and get out. Nothing could have stopped this from happening except for her to never been alone or to have not went. Beaches, resorts, rivers, places like this that will always have people out at night with people from all over will always have murder to deal with. Serial Killers dream. God Bless the famillies of all who loss and will lose...._<=

I can't believe this case is still unsolved! After reading that forensic evidence had not been tested after 3 years, I was outraged! WTF kind of priority system does the State of Texas follow? I was in Oklahoma when this happened dealing with the death of my father-in-law. Never in a million years did I think it would be almost July 2012 and Bridgette's murder has been left in a file box at the Galveston PD collecting dust, mold, etc...

Be careful who you trust. Sometimes people pulling the strings are in places of power. I was researching a story about a child molester in tc and found he knew too many missing girls. I shared the information with an officer and paid dearly.
