This is B.S. and the reason I know is because I just had to pay mine on the 20th last month to avoid a shut off. Not to mention I had to wait until I got off too pay it so it was roughly 4:30 or so. Ofcourse according to the paper if we were a part of the LaRue family we should have nothing to worry about considering they shouldn't have to pay ever...

Does anyone know what the minimum is supposed to be for city water? I know a house that no one is living in, but water is still on for when someone is in the house, & the bill is $40. This doesn't seem right to me as when I had city water my bill wasn't that much.

Maybe if you PAID YOUR BILL instead of complaining on topix then you wouldn't have to worry about it!

A lot of folks think the "water bill" is for water. Its for your water, sewer and garbage service. The sewer portion is about 1/2 or more of it I think. So a $40 bill isn't $40 for water. Its probably something like $14 to $15 for water.

No it is just a water bill. Sewage is not in it as there is a septic tank & garbage is a completely different bill. That would never be included. I was just wondering the minimum.

Mine is water sewer and trash for certain, sewer is like 50% of the bill because almost all the water you use goes into the sewer to be treated. Every city is this way and the trash is most definately included. Maybe your on county water or your in the county on city water, I know city water lines run further out then the city. Don't know if it makes a difference or not.

Sewage is not part of the bill. I know as I have looked at it. This is just a water only bill & like I said, no is living in the house, but the bill is $40 which is ridiculous. I lived down the road from this house before & like I said, my bill was usually under $40 unless we filled a swimming pool or something like that. I think they pull numbers out of a hat & charge whatever they want. This isn't in the city limits either, but it is city water. They also tried to charge this person $1000 at one time.

That could explain a good part of it if the property is outside the city limits. The city charges something like twice the water rate for those is serves outside the city. So a $16 water bill becomes a $32 water bill. I would think if its $40 then there may be a leaky faucet or a commode running.

I went and paid my bill in cash one day and the next day I got a notice saying that my bill was late and I had to pay the late charges and it was also do for disconnect. In rage I called up there and the lady that answered told me that my bill wasn't paid but yet I had the receipt showing proof it was paid. I showed proof of everything and they told me that my payment had not post to my account needless to say by me paying cash for some funny reason it took almost a full day for my payment to post on my account.i believe something else went wrong there lets jus say ill never pay cash again.

Did the city ever get the dead cow out of the river at the water plant? If not, maybe that's why your bill is high.....steak and a drink....
