I just got through reading the story on Magtown Rag about the central dispatch controversy. Who is the outside influence that Loe is talking about who kept him from demoting Tommy Wood? Who was the deputy that had to be escorted out of dispatch? Why was he escorted out of dispatch?Did Mayor Vann have his hand in any of this? Did the city ever pay their part of the dispatch bill? I wish when the Bannana News and the Magtown Rag report a story they would get the whole story.

the banner news never reports the whole story. They report one side and just move on to the next story

I would imagine the media reported everything that was said. If more was said, that would have been reported too. And the paper has been writing about the dispatch problem for several months. Perhaps you should try reading those stories, then you might know more about the situation. Just a suggestion.

Actually I was talking about doing a little investigative reporting on their part. I know who the outside influence is and who the deputy is that was thrown out of dispatch but I thought the public might want to know. The outside influence would be Parnell Vann. The deputy was Brian Palmer.
It wouldn't have taken much effort to find that out, yet they just print what their told.

Actually the media can only voice what someone will go on the record saying. When cowards start their conversation with "this is between you and me," or "this is off the record," the "full" story is never heard. Many times the media has the full story, but no one to fall back upon for creditability. City and government officials worry to much about the people who will take things the wrong way, when in fact it is their civic duties to inform the people.

I think we all knew who the outside influence (or interference) was without anyone actually saying the name.

I'm totaly confused now. The radio ran a story this morning saying that the quorum court voted for dispatch to stay at the police department. Now I have read on magtown rag that Parnell Vann says
the Sherrif can have and run it and that the county is having a meeting Thursday to decide where to put it. Does anyone know what our brilliant politicians have decided about the central dispatch????????

I think they decided to put it in a kiosk at Walmart. They could probably run it and make a profit while they were doing it.

Have we settled the central dispatch dispute ? I haven't heard anymore about it? Is it true that the powers to be have discussed letting SAU take it over?

I propose a user fee on each call made to dispatch.
This will reduce police work load & give a nice raise to all city employees.

central needs to have more than one person working it. The police station and county deputy's need their own dispatcher and the firefighters need one as well. The firefighters have a hard time with some of the dispatchers not listening to them, while on the other hand some of the dispatchers do their job well.

I agree, let's make it a 5 cent sales tax, we can hire 10 more dispatchers. i will also double your husbands pay.

I'm still confused after all these days. I just read on Magnoliareporter.com that the Quorum Court has called into question the motives behind Sheriff
Loe's expansion plans at the jail. Lee on the jail committee says the expansion doesn't have anything to do with moving dispatch to the jail. Loe has been previously quoted saying"he will find a place for central dispatch".
Are we or aren't we moving the central dispatch and who is in charge of it? Both the governments need to decide and act upon the decision, before an officer or fireman gets injured. There should be two people on duty in dispatch 24/7 to avoid complaints such as the one from Chief Talley. The dispatchers need training on proper procedures as far as call priority, how to help someone with CPR and lifesaving instructions on the phone while EMS is on the way. I suspect none of the dispatchers have any training in CPR, first aid, domestic violence. Stop the politics and get dispatch working.

They really screwed the pooch on that one. If it hadn't been Chief Talley no one would have ever known what was going on up there.
