I'd like to find out more about Bruce and his family before I go to the ballots. Anybody have any input?

What do you need to know? I'm pretty sure he's unopposed.

Bruce is a really good guy and a very good senator. He has done a lot or this area. Do not hold him accountable for his actions of some of his family

I agree with truth. Bruce has done alot for the citizens of this area. He is a person just like everyone else. He faces the same family problems that we all do and he should not be condemed for them. Each and every person that comments on here good or bad has problems in their closet. And if you say you dont then you are a liar. Give him credit where credit is due.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but what exactly has he done for Magnolia/Columbia County in his position in the Legislature? Can you give us some specifics?

He has successfully lobbied for and got large amounts o money and grants to upgrade and add to SAU. If you not think this benefits you thing again. The number of dollars spent in this town by college students alone is huge. The is a much longer list but I want to check the facts before posting them. I want to give credit where credit is due.

I agree with Truth. Bruce secured an additional $1 million for SAU in addition to their regular funding. This is being used on the new Agri Center. He helped increase funding to our cities and counties, senior centers and fire departments. He carried the legislation creating the Higher Education bond program and sponsored legislation promoting economic development. He has passed legislation benefitting the timber industry, oil and gas industry and manufacturers, including Albemarle. He drafted the legislation establishing a Lignite Pilot Program at SAU. He sponsored legislation cutting taxes and expanding the homestead tax credit. He was the budget chairman and helped draft a balanced budget in the worst economy of our lifetime. Bruce was named Legislator of the Year by the Arkansas Realtorís Association, Person of the Year by the Municipal League and one of the Top Ten Legislators by Talk Business Magazine. He volunteers hundreds of hours at community events, serves as auctioneer at charity events and teaches Sunday School each Sunday. Other than that, I donít guess he has done much.

as co-chairman of the Joint Budget Committee he has become one of the most respected and capable legislators in the state. You cannot put a value on how well he represents Magnolia, Columbia County and South Arkansas across this state.
The one you should be asking about is State Representative Lane Jean. It seems he is the most absent representative we have ever had. He is never seen doing anything in the community, the mayors and county judges say they never see him and I have never heard anyone even claim that he has accomplished anything as legislator. I guess he is just biding his time like he did as mayor.
Since he got out of the mayor's office it has been pretty amazing to see what can get done by an active mayor who cares about moving our town forward.

I've heard exactly the same thing from others about Lane Jean. David Fielding touches base with City Hall and the County once a week while the Legislature is in session to let them know what is going on and to find out if there is anything they need him to do for them. He works harder for us than Jean ever thought about doing. Jean did nothing as mayor and has done even less in his new gig. Too bad nobody ran against him.
