Do they police in Magnolia do anything but file reports? Do they actually try to apprehend anyone or figure out what happened?

We have the finest police force in Arkansas, our guys have the highest arrest/ticket rate of any city in Ar., I have instructed them to ticket my wife if they catch her breaking the law.
oh please!

Writing tickets doesn't mean they're the "finest police force" it just means they've mastered how to fill in some standard blanks on a form! Magnolia's police officers break the rules they write tickets for such as speeding (and I'm referring to times they're not in pursuit), texting while driving, and no seat belt! I've seen all of these examples with my own 2 eyes! Maybe citizens should be able to ticket the officers who break the laws!

Or maybe the mayor should stop doing favors for individuals who support him and stop "fixing" tickets and make the individual pay the fines, that might help with the lack of revenue for the city. This would also involve having people that have some sort of education or damn sense to run the Police Department, because we sure dont have that with the two idiots that are there now.

I guess that is hard when you have employees coming to work drunk or that leave work to go get liqour or get liquored up! Sounds like a real tight ship there!

Exactly. This is the problem. You think they're "the finest police force in Arkansas" based on the amount of TICKETS they write. How about patrolling to prevent any more people from getting vandalized. There have been numerous car windows and house windows shot out around town lately with a gun. But they don't want to do anything but write a report. I would like to see something done to prevent this rash of vandalization. This town is just ridiculous. Worrying about writing tickets rather than protecting citizens and preventing things like this from happening.

Moron Vann fired Gordon Lemons for giving one of his cronie supporters a ticket. Oboma Vann has surrounded himself with people that stroke his ego by not questioning him. Magnolia has one the youngest, most inexperienced police forces in the state. How can you effectively help the city when your one or two veteran officers are baby sitting fresh recruits?
Gorum ran a tight ship with a group of officers that respected him and were respected by the community. Now you've got Proctor, a Campaign Promise and a bunch of FNG's protecting our city. Pat yourself on the back Purple Villian you've done such a fine job!

Not by any means do I think a speeding ticket is not important, but our "cops" as you call them sit at the station, write some of the dumbest tickets while we have a murder on the loose a 19 year old who took two different police chases to catch cars being vandalized parents who should not have kids and we get tickets for no seat belt running stop signs texting/talking while driving but they dont have the same rules? Their tint can be illegal and ours cant?! I had a cop hit his blue lights behind me and i pulled over just for him to go around me to avoid stopping at a stop sign! HE could have hit someone who did not see him coming and had the right of way but it would be our fault. Maybe we need some better cops I beloeve we are a long ways from the "finest" by any means. Heck they cant get the 911right dispactch crap straight. It took me calling TEN times before anything was done for the loud music at a party across the street from my house where I had a newborn asleep and a husband who had to be up in three hours to go to work and I live in town! Some of our "finest"by are the poorest! Why cant citizens have a say so in our law enforcement? We do in our mayor and so on so why not the people who are to protect and serve us?

I was wondering what kind of new ignorant garbage the whiners would start since the sales tax passed by such a large majority. You can claim it was a low turnout and it was but it was also a STRONG vote of support for Magnolia's leaders by citizens who cared enough to vote. Now it is a drunk city hall employee, a fixed ticket, blah, blah, blah.

Do any of the previous posters really think the second post was from Vann. God Help US.

I like the way a poster on another thread said it and it IS very easy to see some law enforcement agency is making a lot of arrest for some very serious crimes. Of course, this is Topix, the place where facts dont matter and anyone can spout crap 24 hours a day.

All you have to do is read the court docket in the paper or on Magnolia Reporter to know that someone is arresting a large number of criminals. If it is not the police and sheriff's department then who is it. I am sure you won't credit the state or federal government with all those arrest. The courts may not be putting enough of them in jail or getting fines to turn back to the police but they are getting arrested. They may not be getting the worst ones or the minor ones but the court docket looks pretty full to me.
IT WOULD BE HARD FOR ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, NO MATTER WHAT THE PAY TO PUT THEIR HEART INTO THE JOB DAY IN AND DAY OUT KNOWING THERE IS NOT ENOUGH MONEY, TOUGH JUDGES OR JAIL SPACE TO DISCOURAGE CRIMINALS WHEN THEY DO GET ARRESTED.

I don't know about all of the above, but I found it interesting that Assistant Chief Proctor went on radio and told the citizens that if you were walking for exercise that he recommended that you carry pepper spray, a taser, or a gun. My God has Magnolia become so dangerous you can't walk the street withouit a gun?

You don't have to be on the street. Your own home can be a danger zone also. Just ask Glenda Stroman.

So sad but so true. Magnolia is alot safer than alot of places in this country but still subject to random violence. There are people out there that will rob you blind and are willing to snuff out your life in the process instead of getting a job and earning a living like most of us. You guys better be ready to protect yourself if the time comes.

No, they do not. They let killers walk the street then tell us we need guns.

if you whinny pricks think you can do better then i suggest you get off your bitchy ass and apply for the job. Thats what i thought, bunch of hot air. There is a process for everything. There is not a magic button on the dash of the police car that we push when we go on a call that will just like magic tell us who busted a window. Nor do the ones commiting the crime stand out in the road and wait for us to drive by so we can see them. And as far as window tint..Lawenforcement vehicles are exempt from that law.... the library has a law book...check it out.

The bottom line: The Magnolia police force is a joke. No crimes ever get solved here. Almost every store has been held up at gun point and not one person has ever been caught. There is vandalism everywhere, no reports of arrests for them. Drugs are everywhere, but no drug busts. But I will tell you one thing, you better have not have had one beer, because they will bust you for that. You will be hand cuffed and thrown in jail.

Why are police exempt from laws that we aren't? They roll around town talking on cell phones not wearing seat belts. It is pathetic. We have a bunch of Barney Fifes.

the police also love to take photos of themselves while on duty and post them.I seen one photo where the officer was sitting in the police car and took about three or four different shots. I guess they are exempt from the drinking and driving law to. You see the so called Magnolia Finest out at different parties drinking and lord only knows what else they are doing, then get in their cars/trucks or even out on four wheeler rides drunk as hell.

I also know for a fact that they pull people over just to talk to them while they are supposed to be patrolling the streets. It really makes the town safer. Don't worry, I am going to call Maxwell and let him know who they are. I'm tired of all these youngs cops we have now who think they are above the law.

Maxwell is a joke too, his son sells drugs and has been for years!
