to state the obvious, it's time to get out of the middle east. that place has been nothing but trouble for us. i don't care about ''bringing democracy'' to the middle east. we've gotten over 6,000 american troops killed in iraq and afghanistan over the last 11 years and for what? we don' have any real ''freinds'' in the middle east, and that includes israel. a ''friend'' wouldn't attck your warships like israel did in 1967, killing 34 american sailors, steal your secrets and technology as israel does, and try to drag you into a disatrous war, as israel is currently trying to do. the leaders of our nation should just be honest and say th only real interest we have in the middle east is oil. sadly, those people are backward and don't respect democracy. the whole sept. 11 buisness was because we were over there in their holy places. if we come home and leave then alone, then the terrorism problemwould vanish. the reduction in terrorism is due to the fact that so many have been arrested or killed in drone strikes and special forces operations. think of what happened when ronald reagan sent the marines into lebanon in 1982. terrorists attacked them and killed 241 and reagan withdrew them. that's the common sense thing to do. instead of bloviating about ''resolve'' and ''toughness.'' the middle east is hostile territory for americans. you can't blame the muslims for not wanting ''infidels'' in their midst. the problem is that our government constantly lies about the reasons it meddles in the middle east. some folks have pointed out that the arabs have to sail oil; they can't eat it. i guess our government fear an arab oil boycott like the ones in the '70s. oil is a finite resource and will run out eventually. we should really just get our scientists to create an alternative and forget the crazy middle east. but don't count on that no matter who ends up in the white house. there seems to be a bi-partisan urge to rule the world and interfere in the affairs of every nation on earth. i wouldn't say write your congressperson and complain. the american people don't really have any say in our governent. we're just along for the ride. the government is contemptous of the american people and think we are peasants. it would be good if terrorists targeted us government officials instead of american civilans but government official are too heavily guarded. i have no problem with terorists targeting te us military. that's just legitimate resistance. the military aren't civilians but combatants, so you really can't call it ''terrorism.'' the best logical response to all the violence directed at outr occupation forces is to just leave, but god knows the war hawks will call that ''waekness'' and ''surrender.'' our government should stop lying. they have no interest in bringing ''democracy'' to the unenlightened in the middle east. this is just the old colonial crap. the good news about all the iran aber-ratteling is that a war with iran would be so bad that we won't get into one. our government should give up it's hegomonic delusions and get out pof the volotile middle east, but that'll be the day.
