Newcomer?????? Just take a look at Burson's endorsements, do you really think Burson is going to get rid of Scot Key? Uhm no!!!!!! Do you really think there will be any changes? Uhm no!!!!!

Diana Martwick has my vote!

Scott Key refusing to move on sank Dave Cebillas. It is going to sink Burson also. I liked her radio ad's but Key's and endorsement is the iceberg that will sink her ship.

Her radio ad SOUND great..... Just do a little research on her track record and you'll see she doesn't follow through with actions..... TOOOOOOO many victims being treated with less respect than her defendants .....

Why would you classify Ms. Burson as a"newcomer"? Neither candidate appears to have been a resident much more or less than ten years?
Having seen and heard both candidates, and as a former prosecutor, I can tell you that Ms. Burson is far more qualified than Ms. Martwick. It's too bad this is a partisan race because it gives the least qualified candidate an unfair advantage simply because of party affiliation.
We have repeatedly seen the election of unqualified Republican candidates in Lincoln County simply because of party affiliation.
It takes more than party affiliation to be the best candidate but that seems not to matter to straight party voters, Dems or Repubs.

Couple of things:
Nobody uses "newcomer" around here except as a pejorative and Las Cruces isn't in the 12th Judicial...so what's the interest in OUR local issues???????
Scot Key already has another job offer.

"Newcomer" meaning that the incumbent will not be returning. Has nothing to do with residence.

Linda Burson has far more experience with the criminal justice system than Martwick does, and has served both in the public defenders office and the prosecutors office.

Martwick seems like a more political animal, she might better serve as a state legislator.

Now my interest shifts to the suggestion that Scott Key has another job offer. Who in their right mind would hire him? It would be in Linda Burson's best interest for voter to believe he would be moving on, but is he really? Ms. Martwik is a republican but that would not automatically disqualify her. She lives in Otero County and I don't know what their Republican party is like. If she were to come out of the bowels of the Lincoln County machine that would be a stink on her tantamount to the stink on Burson left by Scott Key. So, the question remains about both candidates. Is Scott Key a part of Burson't team and is Martwick a part of the Lincoln County Republican machine. Anyone know for sure?

Martwick will go into the DA's office not owing anyone, not owned by anyone. Martwick wants the office to be accountable to the public. Diana has the same, if not a bit more, experience as Burson. Diana is not one to be pushed around, you can't tell her what to think or do. Diana will follow the law.

Burson wants hire an animal advocate!!!!! She can even get her "human" advocates to do their job, but lets throw more of the taxpayers money at an animal advocate - much more important than looking to the problems within your own office and fix them.

Animal advocate? What a bunch of hooey. Most humans, if they are humans at all, are animal advocates. My own mother who wouldn't touch most animals would be all over you if you weren't kind to animals. To assume that the other advocates in the office wouldn't step up and defend the mis-treatment or neglect of animals is an insult. People kind enough to care about people are kind enough to care about animals or they shouldn't even have the advocate job. Ms Burson, Not ever habit is a disease and not every fringe group needs to be pandered to.

You are either not what you claim (attorney, that is)or you have a personal problem with Martwick, which interferes with your judgement. It is pretty obvious that Burson does not measure up against Martwick. Burson, the queen of plea bargains! Oh let's not be too hard on the defendant, we don't want to label him! Bursons calling might be as a hairstylist or motel manager, but DA is way above her abilities. Martwick is a top notch trial lawyer, she should make a good DA. You go, girl!

Dear mad A. nikfaR,

Linda is endorsed by Scott Key. Enough said. I know that your criminal defense practice depends on aD.A.' office that chronically looses cases to time or is just to stupid to put up an intelligent prosecution. You know what your up against with Martwick. You are going to have to sharpen up. It will be good for you to have a worthy appoint in the court room. You have been lazy long enough. Haven't seen you in action in about a year. Do you still throw those red faced, foot stomping fits.

P.S. Tell the pretty judge we said Howdy!

qualifications aside i have met both of these women and i feel i would be treated better by Martwick and although i have not see her in action in carrizoz i have seen burson and she does huff and puff and makes judgements aloud in court about prosecuting before the poor guy can defend him or her self. this is not fair to the people. and dont forget about the cops and sherriffs dept. talk about gang bangers with a badge and they were backing burson. hahahahah for them i hope they get what they deserve

From what I have seen and heard of Diana Martwick I think we are going to see a great D.A.
Seems like a person who is going to keep politics out of the picture.
T. Roosevelt said no man was above the law and no man below it.I bet that is how this lady is going to operate, I hope so.

With Martwick in Alamogordo and Spencer in Carrizozo, we are unlikely to bask in the warmth of Dianna's reforms. The machine will be running the Lincoln County Office.

Martwick will do nothing. The Sheriff's for as long as I can remember have been nothing but women chasing, drunks that steal for a hobby.

Virden has been accused of stealing railroad ties and his own employees investigated it. There couldn't be anything wrong with that could there?

Election fraud voting in Carrizozo and taking a tax cut from the ranch. Does anyone even look at the sheriff committing a felony? No.

Spence is working at the DA's office and I read in the paper that she and the sheriff were bulling the publisher of the paper. Did anyone even raise an eyebrow? No.

Martwick has Spencer in her camp. So let's see if Martwick cleans the house or just leaves the dirt. We'll be able to gauge Martwick's ability to stand up to the elected thugs by what she does with Spencer.

Anyone want to take a bet on this one? I will bet she just is another DA that covers the crimes like the rest. We shall see.
