I have worked in road maintenance, and these workers earn every dollar. If those administrators in the upper levels would just work one week with these people each year, it would open their eyes to where money is needed most to keep things going, and how things really work in getting equipment and supplies to the big city where they live. After all, food and other goods don't just appear like magic on the store shelves.

Also in the top 10 earners is Las Cruces area maintenance supervisor Antonio "Ray" Martinez, who joined NMDOT in 1975, taking home just over $40 a week.

That's on top of his state retirement. He's double dipping.
