Updated Forum on retiring in Socorro

Hi. I saw a forum which closed out a couple years ago about retiring to Socorro. I fell for the Southwest over 30 years ago as a student at NMTech, particularly for the small town Socorro that was, way back then. I haven't been back in 30 years, but have always remembered the Town very fondly.
Anyway, I'm in New England, and am thinking about retiring back to Socorro. Any thoughts out there?
Any community involvement opportunities, or community activities. Does anyone have any insight about moving out there after retirement?

the locals have enough on their hands with all the unhappy reformers moving in and spreading the misery all over town.... Try Magdalena they eat it up over there.

Let me guess...Grainola eating, Birginstock wearing Californians, right? I god Woodrow, they're ruining the Rockies from one end to the other. I say resistance is the only thing that will stop these nuts.
