these sort of incidents DON'T HAPPEN to responsible gun owners - BUY A GUN, TAKE A SAFETY COURSE, AND PRACTICE WITH IT !!!... then, you won' t have to sit there waiting, for a policeman to show up, just to write a crime report (that's really all they can do, you know, police aren't capable of being everywhere, all of the time)

I bet there is a connection with the victoms and the home invaders. They went in with just bats, why? Is it because they knew there were no guns in the house not to mention they returned a second time again because they knew no gun in the house. You would have to be a complete fool to home invade a home with just a bat not knowing if you are going to get shot. They knew them

"Three Shot in Magalia Home Invasion Robbery" sounds worse...
even if the perps were the ones shot. I don't understand how death is the solution to anything. I'll take renter's insurance over a human life anyday, my stuff and the risk of confrontation just isn't worth it. The stuff can be replaced. We should all have swords instead, look your enemy in the eye like a man. Live to fight another day.

You are not very bright then, or you enjoy being a victim.

Where is the lunacy in preparing to protect yourself, your family, and your property? You sound like a victim.

Is anyone taking odds on the probability that drugs were involved in this?

I agree that we all need to be prepared to defend ourselves, especially when the criminals know that the Butte County sheriff patrol is probably at least 45 minutes away from Magalia at that time of night. If you would rather surrender to the thugs then shoot them, then you obviously have never been the victim of a violent crime. The sense of fear and violation that lingers is terrible. If someone invades a home in the middle of the night they deserve anything that is waiting for them.

Why was their doors locked? There are different means to secure you home. motion lights, dogs, alarm systems and the BEST being insured by Smith & Wesson.

Anyone breaking into a home has something on their mind and it isn't to sit down for dinner! No body will PROTECT you but you yourself!

You sound like a hemorrhoid, very sheltered hiding in your warm hole. You’re the person who has something bad happen to you or your family and your too much of a worm/wimp to defend yourself, then everyone has to listen to you whine on the evening news about why the Sheriff office took to long to help you. You should dig a hole in your yard, and then if something bad happens you can go stick your head in it.

I totally agree with you, my sister and brother in law had a home invasion and the perps held guns on them while they tied them up, came in at 3am, they will never be the same, their whole lifestyle has changed not to mention thinking everyone who looks at you is the "ONE". We recently had a robbery here, no way to replace what they took, it was a couple hundred over what our deductible was so if we claim it, our insurance goes up, if we dont, we are out of what they stole (hunting equiptment, no guns)even if we did claim it, they would only pay a small portion of what they were worth and as far as I am concerned, if you are out there on MY property doing something you shouldnt be then I have a RIGHT to protect my family and property and Im a good shot! We do have protection but this was an isolated incident and they snuck in the back of the garage that isnt connected and also a ways from the house. If someone doesnt take these scumbag, weapon toting thugs out someone else is going to get the same thing if not worse. CATCH THEM AND GIVE THEM TO THE CLAMPERS!!!

Or except in Magalia where the Sheriff is forty minutes away.

How come Tulelake Ca. population 1020 and Lake Shastina Ca. population 2829 each can have a fully staffed police department, but Magalia population 18000 can’t have a deputy twenty four hours.

VERY good question, anyone know the answer to that? Theres no way they are pulling in more revenue than this community is so whats up? Maybe the mayors 180,000 (160+benifits)salary has something to do with it.(check it, you will find that most employees that work in those offices make over 100,000.) In this economy and violent era, one would think that safety would prevail over greed but noooooo......

Magalia does not have a mayor. It's not a town or a city. Just part of the county. What mayor around here makes 180,000 salary? The mayor of Paradise makes about $300 a month.

They should contract with Paradise Police, than there would be 24/7 coverage.
