If this old guy was going to hit anyone on a motorcycle he sure hit the right guy. Darrell Hughes is a bonifide dirt bag. He is a constant fixture at the local bars in town and ALWAYS leaves them either driving or riding under the influence. Lucky for him this happened in the morning while he was on his way to the bar. Its finally nice to see bad things happen to bad people. FYI: this didn't even slow him down he was at the Canteena the same afternoon just look for his 90s white Jeep Cherokee parked out front, that is until he gets another motorcycle. Maybe he can ride towsies with some of his Black Top Butthole buddies until his leg heals up?

Darrell Hughes is a total dirtbag! Darrell's cheated on his first wife and she dumped his sorry ****. As far as being a hardworking business owner: Darrell Hughes has failed at everything he has done in Paradise,(motorcycle shop, reale estate) the county has filed a ficticious business name against him for his business "Harleys" (how original by the way!) He has had domestic violence restraining orders filed against him by a woman who was much younger than him who he was harassing. I hope this slows him down for a while, so if you see a Danny Bonaduce look alike that is now walking with a limp, beware its Darrell Hughes.

He sounds like a real winner!

Regarding traffic on Clark...I have driven westbound on Clark during the last two mornings at about 8:20 a.m.. Each day I've witnessed speeding in excess of 50 m.p.h.. I broke the law as I tried to keep up with one vehicle each day to see how fast they were going. I backed off at 50 as I could not keep up. One vehicle had a mother driving with a child in a car seat! The other looked like a college girl, oblivious to the 35 m.p.h. speed limit. Watch out for the other guy/girl! Paradise P.D., please ticket speeders! The residential streets are just as bad.

regardless, if he's a dirtbag or not, it COULD also have been someone more innocent, that was illegally 'left-turned'... I'm only in my 50's, but I definitely don't have the reflexes I did, just a few years ago, and NO OLD PERSON does, either !... there should be mandatory loss of driver's licenses, at age 70, NO exceptions

I bought a scooter (street legal 150) to save on gas and riding around Paradise is pretty risky.. People just don't seem to see you or pay attention. I have people riding my tail when I am going the speed limit.. I usually pull off because its pretty scary haveing a car/truck following that close and fast. Watch out for the motorcycles people!(and kids on bikes too)

Wow, some of you should be ashamed. The article is reporting that there was an accident and someone got hit by a truck while on their motorcycle, not the character flaws of the person who got hit. God forbid it was one of your family members who got struck by a truck or worse killed by a truck. My my my Paradise Native how judgemental are thee? Sounds like you know this person from the bars because you are there also? Sounds like it. Regardless, you are the dirtbag for speaking so ill of someone who almost got killed by an idiot who wasn't paying attention. What if that had been one of your kids on a bike? Would you come up with all kinds of crap to say about your kid and all the crappy things they do? I hope you didn't breed because we don't want any more classless jerks like yourself in Paradise. To the other idiot, you're just as bad. In fact it sounds like you are the ex wife. There are ALWAYS 2 sides to every story, regardless, this isn't the place to air someone else's dirty laundry. You two are a bunch of losers. Speedy recovery to Darrell even though I don't know him.

Sounds like you are the dirtbag. If you're on a Harley it's because you have a small you know what. Harley's are nothing more than extensions, same as those big big 4x4 trucks. Inadequate people drive oversized and over loud vehicles.

It's the lousy drivers I'm afraid of. There are good driver's and there are bad driver's and it has nothing to do with age. I've driven long enough to figure this one out. People pull out in front of motorcycles regardless of their respective age.

I'm tired of the fad as well. The bikes get louder and louder and law enforcement does nothing about it. They all dress alike, have the same helmets, tattoes, stance and attitude. There's one on Redbud that makes more noise that any other vehicle in the neighborhood. I'm sure he doesn't care as he rides a Harley!

Well I have a Harley,a 4x4,no tattoos and definitely no complaints from the wife. It seems that you have a thing about mens genitals.Maybe you should just stick to your minivan, quilting and living how others tell you how do it.

Mine only gets loud when I'm hard on the throttle. It is usually when trying to get away from the tailgaiting women and the deaf, driving dead old men in this town.Loud pipes do save lives and the sound is temporary.

I would like to be around when you are 70 to see if you still have the same thinking. I am in my 70's, have never had an accident, never received a ticket, I drive the limit, but I drive very defensively. I take a reading test every 4 yrs. pass them, go on my way, defensively. There are 30, 40, 50 yr olds that should not be driving. I will put my record up to yours any day. Are you free of all the above? Bet not. The younger you are the more accidents. Read your papers, the old may have fender benders, but it is the younger that are fatally killed, usually because of speed. All this data was discussed about a yr ago. Why do you think younger have such a high insurance premium? My premium is very low, because of my record. Anyone, regardless of age can be a hazard for accidents if they do not pay attention & keep an intelligent manner to their driving.

Congratulations on your record.Unfortunately you and I are the exceptions to the rule.Oh yes I'm 50,licensed to drive anything with wheels,no tickets or accidents either. You should not take the earlier statements personal if you really have such a record.

I'm a retired longhaul truckdriver, with over 4 million accident-free miles, in a semitruck,(not even counting the 4-wheeler and motorcycle miles accrued)... I seriously think, I could be called a 'driving expert'... and, I repeat,'I can sense the loss of reactions, etc., that have come with my age'... you remind me of a relative, who I used to tell "yeah, maybe you've never had an accident, BUT, your driving CAUSED a 100 accidents !" ... if you're over 70 years old, or otherwise impaired, TURN IN your driver's license ... go take a 'reaction test', at a driving school, you will see where you have slipped ... we all age, and we all have to accept that ...

P.S., Thumper, you will LOSE, if you put your record up against mine ... besides the experience, and no accidents, I haven't had so much as a parking ticket in 20+ years ... try driving fulltime for a living, and having MY record ...

I'm surprised no one has said anything about the epidemic of overly SLOW drivers in this town who are just as dangerous as the fast ones...its gotten pretty ridiculous trying to get anywhere...I think there should be more done about them too.
