Fatal Vehicle Accident On Pennyrile Parkway

NEWS 25 is on the scene of a fatal accident in Hopkins County. The accident is on the Pennyrile Parkway, just south of Madisonville and the western Kentucky parkway, near the Nortonville exit.

We were driving North on the Pennyrile coming home from Nashville and came upon this horrible accident in the southbound lanes, just as it happened. It was the most horrific scene. The semi was on its side, a vehicle was mangled in the median and another vehicle (behind the semi) was totally engulfed in flames. It was hard to even guess what had happened, or how it happened, or what it was like to be behind it watching it unfold. Two police cars were on the scene, and many more were headed to the scene as we continued driving towards Madisonville. I hope I can get this image out of my mind soon - it's awful.
