Unions have done nothing for this town. First they ran York out and word has it after last union contract vote at GE just a few months ago(where Madisonville GE was one of only two plants in the entire system to not vote for union contract)- GE Madisonville is phasing out and will be closed soon. Thank You Union. I would go south to TX, MS, AL and SC to look for a job which are the only places building factories and hiring. Madisonville will soon be a ghost town with lots of eye sore empty factories. Only thing that will be left are some solid paying mine jobs and once Obama gets cap and trade policies through EPA. Coal will be bye bye and mines in area are currently in the boom cycle like in the 70's and will soon be in the bust cycle like in the 90's due to these EPA policies on power plants that are coming very soon. When this happens (GE moves out due to union and mines in area go into the bust cycle due to EPA policies closing coal fire plants), I would not want to own a business or house in Madisonville. Thus, good luck for these 14 fired employees getting a new job. If they where lazy workers looking for more breaks and union protection - they can just get on a govt. program like so many in today's society do.

Thanks for the hate. Ask Carhartt employee's about the union. Same one as krogers. Seems they all have a job.

That's odd...the ones who took the education incentive or went to Hanson love it.
Only ones I have heard complain were the ones who took unemployment and didn't do anything to get back up.

Doesn't take a genius to see which one replied.

Only at the warehouse and logistics center is carhartt now opperating....they done sent all the sewing to mexico cause they can have it made cheaper there...the union ran out all 11 sewing facilities one at a time. just a matter of time they will have ware house near penjahmo just this side of the us and can bet you the majority will be mexican workers...wait and see.

I went to hanson too and got tired of their bull. co and union both. i didn't take uemp. or the ed. wasn't offered it cause I was one of the older ones who transfered before they shut the sewing down....but i was one that the co./union screwed and because of it they lost a great employee as they have lost many good ones due to their stupid crap. I am now a great employee somewhere else and am a much better person for quitting there a few years back.

We need more strip joints and massage parlors and escort services and honky tonk bars and rock n roll bars and corner taverns and gambling establishments and the town might be fun

It's funny that you are calling someone an idiot. If we could get rid of the unions all of our jobs would be more secure. What's funny is that you were/are so worthless and stupid that the union couldn't even save your job.

If they got rid of the union they would fire you if you sneezed. The union is a great thing. It lacks support from the people that want to sit back and complain.

it aint about unions (saving a job) its about underskilled scab workers who will do anything the company tells them to do for $8 per hr. truth is that most suck asses hate unions , because ass kissing gets them nowhere in a skilled union enviroment, i have worked non union and union both have ass kissers

GE is not a "skilled" union environment. Anybody can work at GE. Just look at some of the people they hired in the last 5 years not to mention the preferential hires. The skilled positions ie toolmakers and maintenance are great jobs but the union allows them to be lazy and not worry the quality of work they do. You like unions because you are lazy and/or uneducated. My guess is you are both.

I'm not sure if this is true or not but this one thing I do know, if the management of Kroger had any backbone at all, they would fire half of the employees at the Madisonville location. Being a business owner myself, it would take much more than the union to save those people's jobs. They have some good employees but most of them are to lazy to whipe their ass, I'm shocked that they're still in business.
