I live in Nortonville and have for most of my life. Last night when I took my kid trick or treating I noticed that hardly anybody gives candy anymore. When I was a kid I can remember the streets lined with trick or treaters and most every house handing out candy. Now there are more houses not giving out candy than are. Is it like this in most towns? What the heck happened? Does nobody celebrate Halloween anymore or what? It was actually kinda sad taking my kid trick or treating and not seeing hardly anyone out and hardly anybody handing out candy. Halloween is truly a holiday for kids and one that they usually have the most fun with and it's sad to see it come to this. If it continues down this path, I can see a day where kids don't trick or treat at all and that will be truly sad.

thank your local churches and city government for this. Trunk or Treat has taken the place of traditional trick or treating. I live in a very well known part of town and we were bombarded with children every year until about 4 years ago, now we hardly have a dozen show up. it is sad, but with the way the world is today, you can never be to safe when your children are concerned.

Excuse me for asking, but what is Trunk or Treat? Personally, I've never heard of it.

Could be that it's a safety issue, I haven't heard about a kid getting ran over trick or treating lately, bottom line is the kids get their candy and it's coming from mostly church people, so you don’t really have to worry too much about contaminated candy.

Stupid? If your child was raped, murdered, or tortured because they knocked on the wrong persons door, would you still think its a stupid idea?

I think trunk or treating is a great, efficient, and safe way for children to get their Halloween candy. You cannot take any chances with the way our screwed up society is today.

My pea little brain? You moron, do not come on this site trying to insult my, or anyone elses, intellect or morality.

Why do you believe an idea that is as efficient as trunk or treat is stupid? Explain why it is stupid. Give me one good reason, and do not say tradition. Halloween is a non-traditional holiday, things change. It's an AWESOME idea, spend about an hour with a group awesomely accessorized vehicles for the occasion. I even seen a jeep that was made to look like a spider. Also, I guess I do look for efficiency in things too, engineering courses in college...but you know how we people with pea little brains are right?

Now it is nice to be able to let your kid walk around and get candy from people you know by name and trust, trunk or treat does just that. Have you been to a trunk or treat? If not, why are you knocking such an idea.

Its safe, fun, and allows for some good fellowship.

Why should I insult your intelligence when half the time you come on here and talk so much crap that it insult's everyone else's intelligence including your own. I mean, my god, I feel more and more stupid after I read half the crap you write on here. Do you have a degree in "Dumbing People Down" because you seem to be an expert at it.

And Trunk or Treat is a stupid idea for a few reasons. One reason being that obviously not everyone goes to the same Church or even goes to Church for that matter. Another would be the obvious competition aspect that would result from it. So and so Church is better than this other so and so Church because they had a better Trunk or Treat. So who would know which to go to or to take their kids to? And Holidays shouldn't be about competition or which group is better. This holiday should be for the kids, not for the Churches.

Oh and btw, I know everyone around my neighborhood by name and trust them. I don't sit around all day and talk crap behind a keyboard like you. I actually get out and talk to real people face to face. Maybe something you should check into ignoramus.

LOL, what are you talking about, I was sarcastically agreeing with you. Are you seriously that dense to believe that I care about your typo? Give me a break, I have more important shit to do than make sure you're applying the skills learned in your high school English and keyboarding classes. You're human, we all fumble on typing, spelling, life in general.

Sorry, but you're not that important.

i'll throw in for this topic: when I didn't have kids, I didn't give candy because i went over to my parents house. My dogs hated kids, and after about the fifth door bell it was ready to attack, so going to moms house saved her the hassle of getting up. Therefore, my lights were off. Now that I have kids, I go trick or treating with them, so you still don't get candy at my house.
And yes, my church is trying to supplant trick or treating with trunk or treating. Personally, I don't want my child approaching a trunk full of candy. If he thinks it's okay, then maybe he will be snatched off the street, you know what I mean? Anyway, we go to the church trunk or treat, and they try to make us stay for the entire evening...we don't. We get the candy, drive over a couple squishy speed bumps that looked like screaming skeletons (okay, that didn't actually happen--but it could have) and hit the 'hood up before lights out. Because we got such a late start, though, my kids made out like a bandit with people dumping the last of the bowl in their bags and turning off the lights as we left. We'll have candy to give out next year from our haul this year! Score!

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Virgo

Someone is easily angered today, and you'll want to tiptoe around them at every opportunity. They might be on the defensive and imagine that you're getting at them all the time, or they could be quick to point the finger of blame straight at you. It won't be an easy day, but try not to get swept up in the emotional dramas that are swirling around you. They'll only exhaust you.
