Has anyone taken the on-line RN courses at MCC?? If so, would you recommend this or stay away from it completely?? I haven't decided if I want to take the classes on-line or at the college. Any info you can give will be greatly appreciated!!

I'm currently a 1st semester student in the RN online program. I live in Paducah and absolutely love the program bc it's a great fit for my life. We usually have to be physically present for class/clinicals twice a week. If you are disciplined and self motivated its great track to becoming a nurse! Would highly reccomend the ADN Online program to anyone :)

I graduate from the online ADN program in May!!! It has been great!! You do have to be self motivated and you have to be completely devoted to your studies. I never had any trouble!!! I wouldn't have had it any other way!! Good luck!

Thank you Blue12 and Sunshine!! I am still undecided as to which track I want to pursue. I love my on-line classes I have now, but I also love being able to get out of the house a few days a week and interact with other adults!

The good thing is if you choose online and do not like it you have the option to switch to traditional lecture and vice versa. But just know which ever you choose you can only switch one time. I would recomend choosing online as your first pick and if it doesn't work out then change to traditional class.

How many total points did you have on your RN application? I can totally understand if you don't want to tell. I'm just getting more and more anxious as the time gets closer

Will any of you current nursing students let us know how many points you had on your nursing application?
wondering

I would just like to know why it is such a secret!! I think there should be a defined cut-off point -- Like if you don't make a cumulative 22-25 on Compass (where they give you the bonus points for each section) and better than an 80% on the A2 then don't bother to apply.

I have both (higher actually), but 3 of my classes I am taking this semester won't count towards my points for admission in the Fall 2013 program so I am feeling like I won't get in then.

They don't tell you how many points you had to have. They have a meeting and decide but they never tell us what the number was.

You can figure up how many points you have on your own

Yea you can figure them up but that doesn't tell you how many points you have to have to get in. Only the nursing faculty knows that. They don't tell the students.

They start accepting them at a certain number.

There is no definite cut off. It depends on the competition. They just take the highest scores. Since every group that applies is different, there is no definite score. A score that gets you admitted one semester might not get you admitted a different semester if there are a lot of high scores.

Where do you find the points scale? The link on the website doesn't work. What is factered into your points? GPA and test scores?

I have heard good and bad. I think as long as you have good self discipline about that kind of stuff you'll do great. Good luck with whichever program you go with. :)

Only issue with starting with online, then switching to traditional is they might now have a spot open in traditional for you when you wanna switch. So you'll have to stay in online. I also looked into this option. I'd only do it if you're totally without a doubt dedicated, because now if you fail out or withdrawal, you cannot get back into the program.

You have to attend a pre admission conference & get an application.
