I am a drug court member at this time. I was recently taken from a bad living environment and placed in a good one. Now im told that I have to go back to the bad living environment. I have been clean for 7 months. I will remain clean but I do not like to be lied too. By giving up the home that i was in I lost the chance to return. So now that the help I was getting is no longer there I dont know what I am going to do.

As usual on topix, many people talking about things they know nothing about. First, Tumbleweed is not a bar, its a restaurant with a bar. Nothing prohibits anyone from going into an establishment that serves food as a main source of income. Second, the funding issue is likely just a mis-communication between local drug court and someone in Frankfort and may be worked out shortly. It is a good program but like anything else has flaws. It is a work in progress but is certainly better than the alternative.

You guys better stop talking about us or were gonna sanction all of you for
Not brushing your teeth at exactly. 6 am evey morning... You're goin to jail.. Weve been watching you and we know what your breath smells like when you come in our office and we know what time you brush your teeth... So you better start brushing your teeth and only use 3 squares of toilet paper when you wipe!! Or you're goin to jail!

I avoid ALL place that promote the sell of alcohol. If I go out to eat its at a restaurant that does not serve alcohol. I do not go to my old people places and things because unlike some I know my addiction and I know my triggers. So when you write WE you must have a mouse in your pocket. Tumbleweed is a bar it has a bartender who makes drinks for people who sit on bar stools. The grant was givin to the drug court program. Bottom line is we are not to be around alcohol. Yet we are being forced too. Because you chance going into places like these doesnt mean others are.I choose to remain sober.
I feel you. I have been clean and sober for over 4 years. I take sobriety very serious after being a addict for 20 years of my life. Alcohol is every where, even at the dollar stores and ideal markets, and groceries. I'm choosing to live mine clean and sober. I quess we agree to disagree because Tumble Weed is a Restuarant that serves food. You can avoid the bar just like you do if you visit an Idea or grocery

I don't gat into this Drug court subject at all,but I got to say that Funding for any program in this County goes straight in one door and out the other.
Where it goes is anyone's guess.
I know where it goes into the pockets of any official that has access to it. There is never anything to show for any money that this county gets you are correct.

The ideal market sells pkg. alcohol that people take home, they dont pop the top right there in your face. Tumbleweed BAR and grill sells alcohol there to drink there therefore there are people consuming alcohol there at the BAR. You really have no right to counsel addicts and alcoholics if you condone alcoholics and addicts being in a bar setting, thats my opinion, just saying.

If you avoid all places that sell alcohol, where do you buy groceries?? All grocery stores sell beer and wine coolers or refrigerated alcoholic beverages....including the dollar store now apparently as it was for sale there just this week. It's the same principal as going to a bar and grill to eat, they sell alcohol, you can chose to purchase or not purchase. Just like the grocery...you can choose to purchase or not purchase. Also, I would think having other people around you at Tumbleweed who will support you and Your sobriety would be a comforting thing. I disagree that you all should be forced to participate if you truly don't wish to...I personally hate eating at Tumbleweed and would be angry that I had to spend my money at a place I chose not to. But there's no way you avoid all places that sell alcohol as you state. You couldn't even go in a gas station in Madisonville.

I know someone who was in drug court. He said it was the best thing that ever happened to him. They fixed his car when it broke down. Paid for him to go to the dentist. Now his teeth are fixed. Pd for his house phone so he could check in. He said if he knew they was gonna help him like that he would have gotten busted along time ago

yea they used too. But they just sent a bunch of people including me to the dentist and then told them Oh were sorry there is a hold on funds. I heard that they dont know if they will get it fixed. They bragged in the courtroom about their big grants and the surplus of money. Now look its a bad deal.

Thats the point they did do all that but what about the others they started things for and didnt finish. If things stayed like they were going itd be great. If the drug court officers werent on a high horse itd be great. If Tara wasnt there itd be great

Let me see if I get this straight. People are on here becuz they got busted for drugs and are complaining becuz they aren't getting free housing, free dental care, and free phones from the court? Am I missing something? Hell, I'm having financial trouble but I made the mistake of trying to work hard to support myself. Guess I been doing it wrong all these years!

As usual some of you have got this all wrong. Yes I have done wrong and I accept my responsibility and I have a job myself I didnt ask for free housing free dental or a free phone. I was offered these things and then when I accepted I was denied after leaving my home behind like they told me to do. As for dental my teeth are fine I dont need it. I dont need a phone either I pay my own bill. Getting into an apartment requires deposits and thats what I was offered other families were offered this as well.

Ive got a JOB and always had one. People change. The world doesnt see it that way once a felon always a felon. Let he has not sinned cast the first stone. we have all done wrong some worse than others. The difference is who accepts responsibility for the wrong theyve done and who doesnt. For those of you that havent done anything wrong, you just havent been caught yet. It is easy to judge others but not so easy to be judged. I wear my shoes nobody else does.
