Well I don't know much about the fire department, but i'd say that they're doing an awful good job. How many men do you hear getting hurt in the line of duty? Or how about thanking those men who risk their lives to run into the burning buildings when everyone else is running out? And what about the volunteer firemen? The ones who are willing to drop their forks from family dinner to go save someones burning house? It takes alot of courage, and bravery, and I thank these men and women for what the do every day! I know myself, and my family will be safe in this community if tragedy were to ever strike here at home! For those who are after Mr. Stoltz, take a look in the mirror? He's a man just like you are. Trying to make a living for his family. Are you really living up to Godly morals badgering this poor man? Cherish the memories you had, and enjoy the rest of your years knowing you served your community.

Exactly my point. But, it seems too difficult for others to understand. You hardly see one firefighter in a vehicle, if that is the case it will probably be the chief's car.

Thats right, I knew it wouldn't be long before my ass obsessed fiend would make a comment on here.

So now you want to bring it to an Obama vs. Bush discussion. Okay. I'll make the thread and see you there.

My brother is on the Madisonville FD and it is a damn good FD...Stop the training? Oh my God are you serious? Sounds like a disgruntled old man who wants revenge and this is not the way to do it....peoples lives are at stake here!! Why not live your life and forgive if you think you were done wrong..is that not the right thing to do? Guess the Cops need to stop going to the academy too..hmm man what a great city we would have...but hey we could save a few bucks..although no one would have jobs to make money because we would have less businesses than we do now...do you think we could get them to come with a inadequate Fd or PD? Sure there are problems but it is people like this that add to them...and by the way Mark why not go by your real name on here instead of Toby?

Well I know that Mark has worked at the Fire Dept. since the early 80's yes he did work for 28 years but he like alot of the other firemen worked two jobs so I know he has been at Legates for alot of years too. He has never talked politics at work & all you people that are trying to start trouble are wasting your time. Because Mr Legate already knows about this & David Jackson does too. Legates is a nice store & Mr. Jackson is a nice man quit trying to cause trouble it won't do any good will probably come back to bite you.

Biller, you obviously are talking above your pay grade here. You will ALLWAYS see police cars, firetrucks, and ambulances out eating and at stores while on duty. Or at least that's how they have been doing it the 20+ years I have been involved in public safety. Like stated earlier you can never tell when a call will come in, and what are they gonna do, run back to the building and get their firetruck? Besides if the fire department wants to take a truck a couple miles up the road to get a sandwitch, I will be happy that my tax dollars paid for that buck or two of fuel. They waste a lot more than that on all of the bull crap calls people call 911 for everyday!

"Stop training to save money"??????? Seriously people, does anyone who posts on this damn forum know what they are talking about, or is it just a lot more fun to make up crap as you go along? MFD has several firemen who are certified trainers by the state. So it is just a matter of the firefighters on shift gathering all in the training room upstairs, and there you go! These guys are already on shift for the day, so how is that costing extra money? Most fire classes are book work, films, and lectures anyway. But they can also go down stairs and train on ladders, hoses, ropes, SCBA, etc. Not to mention training with the firetruck in the parking lot beside the station. Pretty simple stuff.

is that what you thought? they took the firetruck on their rounds because they couldn't fit all the cars in your drive way when they visited your mom and made her slide up and down the firepole. It was a matter of carpooling.

he may be a salesman now , but he also has 28 years experience as a fireman, so you don"t know mark, most of steve stokes experience is a volunteer fireman, and now a chief, i would want a 28 year experience, than a volunteer, buddy you need to wake up.
If you must comment at least know what your saying. Hopkins County has some of the best trained Vol. Firefighters in KY. Steve was a Volunteer and has been on the city dept for 22 years. In my opinion sounds like he does have experience. Our volunteers make up the majority of fire service in our community. Without volunteers in our rural areas we would suffer greatly. Support your local VFD.

If Jackson does become Mayor then we obviously will step back to the "good 'ol boy" ways. If he is promising jobs to his friends wheather qualified or not then he doesn't need to be in office.
