Is there a rule in the board of education policy that does not allow it's employees to have two jobs, both within the county school system?

For example.... Bus driver/school teacher

I have always heard that this was not permitted, they call it double dipping. I know of a bus driver/school teacher who is employed by boone county schools who drives the bus on the morning run, then subs as a teacher at the school during the day, then makes the evening bus run. On the days this employee is called in to sub, they would actually be recieving wages for two jobs in one work day. This has been going on for several years now and I've heard other employees say this was not a legal practice. Anyone know the answer?

Yes it's legal Dummy. Do you think that the BOE would ALLOW double dipping. I work for the BOE and every payday we get it is honestly earned. If you want to know a legal issue hire a lawyer. OOPS, you would have to give your name, RIGHT!!!!

Double dipping is when you are paid for 2 jobs by only working one. if they are driving a bus AND subbing..then they worked 2 different jobs that day and deserve to be paid accordingly.

I don't think it's fair! If I was a sub-teacher I would be pretty ticked off!

Double dipping is when you are recieving 2 sources of income from within one system. Such as working 2 jobs for the BOE in one 8 hour work day.

This employee should either drive the bus or substitute teach, not both... this is knocking either a sub bus driver or a sub teacher out of work for that day, while the employee is recieving pay for 2 jobs on that day. This employee is a full time bus driver and a substitute teacher.

Ever think?
Full time job: Bus driver
Part time job: substitute teacher

Takes a full time job to pay the bills. You have to start as a sub to get a full time job as a teacher. Sounds like somebody took the iniative to get a teaching degree, but needs to work full time. Makes perfect sense.

This person is a full time bus driver, and sub teacher, it does'nt matter if they took the iniative to get a teaching degree or not... A SUB BUS DRIVER or SUB TEACHER is still getting knocked out of a days work when this person is doing both jobs in one day. Yea it does take a full time job to pay the bills, but this person also ownes a business that is open every day. I guess it does make perfect sense to the person who is abusing the system.... just not to the sub that gets overlooked . You say it takes a full time job to pay the bills... isn't a FULL TIME bus driver full time?

Yes, I do think!
Full time job: Bus driver
Part time job: substitute teacher
Business owner: open daily

Full time + Part time + both jobs by same employer in one day = SCREWING A SUB OVER!!!!!!!

Let's see..working more than one job is bad? hmmm...I was taught hard work was a good thing. Subs are not "overlooked" as a matter of fact, most days there are not enough subs to work in all the schools...OR if they are not working it is because they are so picky, they will only work in certain schools for certain teachers...

Let's see... working more that one job is NOT bad!
However, taking someone's job is!!!! There is a sub list that the county goes by, who ever is at the top gets called, if they dont want to work that day, it goes to the next person on the list, and so on. This person has a permanant half time job as a teacher and is a full time bus driver! This is double dipping. Two jobs within the BOE, working everyday in the same 8 hour time period.

just curious...wouldn't this be the same example as police officers working as security guards in malls...wasn't there a few police officers in court recently for working as security guards while on the clock for their police jobs

my2cents seems to really know the ends and outs of the BOE. Maybe my2cents is the one in question....
reguardless of bickering back and forth on this matter, I think if you are a sub bus driver or sub teacher in this county, or if you know of any person that is... they need to be informed of this and find out their rights. If someone has a full time job, they sould'nt be allowed to also have a halftime job within the same system. Someone that does'nt have employment should have this job, period, END OF STORY!!!!!!

You can be a sub for several jobs. What the problem here is this person has a full time job & working as a sub in a long term sub position & getting paid for both! All of this happening from 7:15 until 3:45.

It does knock a sub out of work! Someone who NEEDS a job and only gets to work when called out could really use a long term sub position.

Yes, EVERY DAY! This person is very proud of "double dipping" and talks about their JOBS constantly to fellow employees and students. I dont understand how someone could openly be so cocky about taking a job, but I guess if your getting away with it, you can brag all you want.
